Dungeon Keeper 3

Didn't Notch basically renege on funding Psychonauts 2? Or at least threw out misleading information?

“Dungeon Keeper 3 would be fun, but that’s so stuck in licensing hell that that’s not going to happen, ever. But that would be fun,” admitted the Minecraft maker to Eurogamer.

In other news, don't listen to Notch.

A sort-of friend of mine worked on DK2. I knew he worked for a game company, and he had the box on his desk so I asked him about it and I was pretty impressed when he said he worked on it.

I don't know what to say about DK3. The whole game is a fun idea and seeing it with updated graphics and UI wouldn't be unwelcome... Of course lately I've also been more open to appreciating old games for what they were. We don't really have to update old games *every* decade just because systems get better, as long as we can always play the originals.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

It's not quite the same, but a guy on SCIIMapster has been creating a DK inspired SC2 mod, Hive Keeper. Bunch of the stuff is missing right now, so it's not very playable, but you can load it up and attempt to survive some waves. So far it looks promising.

You can try playing "Dungeons" which is sort of a Dungeon Keeper mixed with Theme Park aspects. It is more about redirecting the enemy heroes than care about the own creatures. It's a matter of taste.

I played Dungeons and it's a nice approach but found it simply wasn't DK. Would like to see an updated DK though. Keeping the good stuff and adding something new and fresh to it would be excellent!

Hey @nbohr1morehow come the zombies in The Dark Mod don't have a "resurrection" mechanic to it, similar to how Thief has it?
They're quite a weak creature as of right now, it's merely a walking corpse that slashes you, making attacking them to kill them an actual strategy.
Would be better if they had some cool mechanism to it that truly makes them a danger, such as the resurrection idea itself.

Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.
