Full-bright lightgem everywhere in the map

The lighting in the map looks proper, but my lightgem is fully illuminated. I thought I might have a second ambient light in the map, but found none but the original in the entity list. I tried replacing it to no avail. I thought it was too close to an vis-portal and moved it (origin).

Hmm... (thinking about this as I'm posting)... All I did was move the origin, but the ambient light center is always at 0 0 0 isn't it? I'll have to check that.

This was a problem I ran into while making the original siegeshop. Unfortunately I can't get to my posts from that long ago.

The world_ambient doesn't have to be a 0,0,0, it can be anywhere as long as it encompasses the whole map.

LOL, actually, I had no weapons when I was testing, but I picked up some broadheads, then selected empty hands. I had recently replaced some textures outdoors, mostly rock and grass. Could the rock texture be reflecting the ambient light, causing it to add to itself and penetrating the whole map?

No.

I wonder if it has something to do with your other graphical glitches?

Can't be. The other glitches have been happening since 1.08. This problem is only in Siegeshop, which I am currently working on. It happened once before, when I was making the original build of Siegeshop, but I can't get to those old posts to see what was the solution..

I had changed properties on many lights throughout the map the other night. I think I will delete the current lights, room-by-room, until the problem hopefully goes away. Then I'll just make new lights.

Fixed the brightness. It turned out to be an issue with having post processing effects disabled and the game running in a window. In the process of fixing it I discovered that running the game in a window with post-processing turned on creates a very psychedelic-looking effect. Especially with bloom turned up.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Trying to be productive on my down-time before Capcom releases Akuma and my son is constantly on my PC playing Street Fighter...

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )
