Black Textures

Oh okay, if they were consciously fixed it shouldn't be a problem then, mappers will just have to reposition them in current maps. As you point out, having the origin roughly centered is actually better for us in the long run, in case we write code having to do with those models, since the origin is often the only thing the code has to go on, and it's bad if it's way outside the model.

That would be great! It's extremely hard to see anything smaller than furniture.

Alrighty, I've uploaded the altered models, skins and textures. Let me know if there are any 'problem' models...as I may have missed something, and I'll fix them. :)

I will also have to update the tutorial to reflect the simplified approach to the material files. Why have we been using those uber long, complicated material name paths...when all that is needed is a single word? We could be doing the same for the texture material files as well.

Some paths in there do help to avoid accidental double use of the same simple word. For example, wall01. We should at least do mansion/wall01, crypt/wall01, etc.

Hmmm, we'll see if we run into any problems thus far. I couldn't see anything messing for now...but if there are any problems, I'll come up with something.

Since the material name is transparent to the user, we can always append the name of the author to the model if there are duplicate names. Actually, it shouldn't be a problem if we're using the name of the model, since you can't save two different models of the same name anyway.

With my HD problems I haven't had a chance to check this until now. I just did a brand new checkout of the mod, and both the vase and orchid still show up black for me.

edit: So does crate02 (I see you mentioned that).

font1 and font01 are also still black.

What gives? Do these work on your system NH?

Spar's notestand is also now black.

edit: Fixed...material path needed to be updated.

edit: Managed to fix the orchid and vase as well. The material file was corrupt somehow.

edit: Fixed a typo on one of the painting skins and got font1 working. Deleted font01, since it doesn't work and I'm assuming it's just a copy of font1. That's most of the models working now. Let me know if you find any others.

Somehow I admire the fact that the material from Dune has now been filmed for the third time. Personally, I could never do much with the material, but as a child of the 80s, I of course know the David Lynch movie...and that movie was at least funny!

Hey @nbohr1morehow come the zombies in The Dark Mod don't have a "resurrection" mechanic to it, similar to how Thief has it?
They're quite a weak creature as of right now, it's merely a walking corpse that slashes you, making attacking them to kill them an actual strategy.
Would be better if they had some cool mechanism to it that truly makes them a danger, such as the resurrection idea itself.

Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.
