hmm viruses suck ASS!

So someone was using my computer and I got a virus, a really bad virus. It was from a executable called bl.exe and it infected every...single...executable on my computer. :angry:

So I got a tool to clean my computer, only problem, now most exe's are only like 72kB in size and most programs just crash, so I have to format as it infected all exe's on every partition.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Well, I'd be glad it's only the exe-files. I guess you have plenty of source files lying around for TDM and other stuff and that's always the most valuable data on system... Aside from that windows just needs a reinstall like once every year. =)

Well I reinstalled Service Pack 3 and things seem to be better, but DrWatson is dead, everytime that tries to run it dies. So I guess I can keep from formatting for now thank god.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Well almost anything that wasn't in use by the system got infected so most of my downloads that were self extracting archives (like the wow installer which was like 4 gigs) got nuked they don't work. But for now things look okay.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Take my advice man, reformat and get it over with. Right now you're just patching a leaky boat and it will never run a well as it should. Take notes about everything you will need to reinstall if you have to, but do bite the bullet and reformat.

 

Dude that's over 200 gigs of programs to install not including games. That took me 4 days at 8 hours a day last time.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

From a personal standpoint I understand, but from a professional point of view... I think it's a better choice to reformat. Back when I ran my computer repair business, a lot of people would ask me not to reformat...just get their computer working 'as is'. Well, they had nothing but flaky stability issues after that.

 

That seems like an exceptionally long time to install everything. I have a ton of programs that I use for my work, but I can get everything up and running within 4 or 5 hours.

LOL visual studio itself takes almost 2 hours to install everything including the MSDN database

I'd consider creating a driveimage after a fresh install and store it on an external hdd, if it's so much you need to install every time. Windows is like a timebomb and I reinstall it at least once per year (not using a recoveryimage). It just gets way too slow and 'dirty' over the time. Also many programs can be run without installing and so I have a second partition for programs only, so a fresh windows install with the few other programs is done very quickly.

Yep. Ghost your drive on another hd, then update it every so often with new prog's by hot-swapping. Then all you would need to do is copy over files when Windows neccessitates a failure, or you feel performance has declined.

      I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

      briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
      What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
      I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )
