Well, we will need trees, definitely. I didn't really include them in the mansion pack list because I was mostly thinking about inside things.

But we will need all kinds of trees when we do our "Pagan Pack" or whatever we want to call it. Evergreens, broadleaf, some with leaves and some without, different sizes, etc. Not to mention bushes, small plants, rocks.....

As far as a mansion yard, however, a couple different trees would do, and perhaps a fountain. What about a 'wall kit' like Fingernail's pipekit, that has various wall pieces with those metal spikes on top that FM authors can use to enclose the grounds?

Yeah that makes the most sense. Or expand it just slightly and have a 'nature pack' that includes trees, bushes, flowers, rocks, etc.

I like it, and there is lots of room for different versions. As far as foliage goes, I'm not entirely sure how that's done. It's easy to make some hanging mossy type things falling down off the branches, but bonifide leaves are something else.

Just put the polys that are to be alpha mapped foilage as a cross dissecting the branches (like the feathers on an arrow) That'll mean 2 polys per branch depending on how good we want the trees to look.

Yeah, I agree. And I doubt they are going to want to custom-build every tree. We should provide a few different dead trees and a few different ones with leaves, and let them mix and match. The same models can be used for dead and leafy trees, in most cases. We can probably get all the variety we need with about three models, which can then be stretched in various ways to make different versions.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.
