Broken forum accounts

My housemate had said that when he created an account on the forums it would not let him view the forum. Typical me, I forget about this and he reminds me a few months later, not believing it I log in on a random PC in the house and it does the same thing... it doesn't allow me to view the forum.

 

"[#1000] You are not allowed to visit this forum."

 

Both of these accounts, once logged in will not let you view any forum related page, not even allowing you to log out (tho you can always clear cookies for the page using the browser)

Googling around has a few results, but mostly just saying that a forum was updated lately.

And that, but it doesn't seem to be relevant as the accounts are in the Member group.

 

I created a new account on my box, which works perfectly.

Perhaps the forum software prevents multiple accounts from the same url to avoid spamming. Or maybe it just gets confused with two cookies at the same place. You might try one of the accounts on a different web browser if you have two installed, eg, one on Internet Explorer and one on Firefox so the cookies are handled separately. Even if that works it doesn't mean one should have to - it might still be a fault. Or, as I say, it might be intended.

Tried all of that already, it seems to actually be the accounts which have the issue.

Using a US IP (not proxied), using different browser, using a different pc (which runs a different OS).

 

Even if I log in with his account it does the same thing, it's really quite odd - I just hope it doesnt hit other people that are registering.

maybe the accounts were never verified or not verified within the 24 hour period, not verifiying an account makes it unusable, or verifiying outside the set time period for it.

 

Or maybe the account names actually get flagged somewhere as looking like accounts created by search spiders.

Hi, this is the housemate in question. When I originally created the account, I didn't receive an Activation email, and when I logged into the account I got the error that wouldn't let me see anything. So I figured that I must have mistyped the email address (I tend to copy the email address and paste instead of retyping it in the confirm address field) and created another account (taaaaki) and made 100% sure that the email address was correct. Still no account verification email and same error when signing into the account. 

 

Would it be possible get the accounts deleted (taaaki and taaaaki) or at least have taaaki reset/unlocked (taaaaki can be deleted)? I'd rather not use this test account created by Serpentine.

Digging around IP.Board docs/google seems to indicate that I just need the account manually activated by an admin or have the activation email resent (there don't appear to be any links that allow me to ask for the email to be resent by myself).

So, do I get this right, you want to use "taaaki" (3 a's) and the accounts taaaaki (4 a's) and takinator should be deleted?

I unbanned the taaaki account. Is that account working now for you? If yes, I'm going to delete the takinator one.
