As the title says, I cant load quicksaves.
I press F4 as the controls tell me to, then after doing some stuffs I try to quickload with F9 but an error pops up saying that it cant load the file TDM/maps/training_mission.script, I havent tested it with the other map yet.

And the second problem, whenever I try to get new maps to download, it tells me it cant connect to the server yet I have a working internet connection. Thus making it impossible for me to download anything new.

Hey

When was the last time you tried the mission downloader? We've made a temporary plan with the servers that should allow the game to pull the mission list.

Regarding the quicksave issue, what path did you install Darkmod to? Make sure that you have it in a folder named "darkmod" as there are some limitations with the current filesystem implementation that prevent other directory names from working correctly.

I am the bat. The night is mine.

I fixed the quicksave issue by renaming the path, thanks for that.

About the mission downloader, i'm not sure if there is any other one than the one in-game. But i've used it since I got this game, which was today. Last time when I used it was before I typed this reply, and it still couldnt connect to the servers.

The main server is still swamped with download requests. We're working on getting alternate ones for the mission downloader to connect to, but it will probably be hit or miss for the next day or two. In the meantime, you can download missions directly from the FM forum and put them in your darkmod/fms folder.

How about a fast fix for this path issue?

We can use this workaround for 2.00: Make sure the root folder name is 'darkmod'.

People should be naming it that anyway.

We can allow non-'darkmod' folder names for 2.01.

I think this underestimates how annoying this root folder issue is going to be for new users. When I installed TDM 2.00 on a friend's machine, it flung the files onto the desktop - my mistake, that's where I put the updater. I probably moved the files into a folder called "tdm" on the desktop... then when I torrented my own copy for seeding, I ended up with a path of "tdm/Torrent Name/" (tdm is the folder I made). If I change the paths, I don't think I'll be able to continue seeding. But the real point is, there is no intuitive reason for users to put TDM files in a folder called "darkmod". So hundreds of users might be having path issues soon, and they may never discover the fix. So a patch for at least this issue should be rolled out immediately, maybe without a version number bump.

I'm not a coder, but basic intuition says that immediately rolled out quick fixes are a bad idea, because there might be bugs and new problems might emerge, resulting in a lot of problems: "Okay, we now need a new quick fix to fix the issue in the previous quick fix that came from the first quick fix..."

It is better to do it 'normally' in the next patch and test it thoroughly.

I mean, why can't people even read installation instructions anymore. Sheesh.

Speaking of which, this question just came in from theBlackman:

I a having trouble with the files. I won't post the log,but it says, for example: File C:\Users\Dusty\Desktop\Dark Mod\tdm_update_win\AUTHORS.txt is missing.

File C:\Users\Dusty\Desktop\Dark Mod\tdm_update_win\DoomConfig.cfg is missing.
File C:\Users\Dusty\Desktop\Dark Mod\tdm_update_win\LICENSE.txt is missing.

I told him to rename his root folder to darkmod (no space; is it case sensitive?). I think that's the problem.

Although, to be fair, with our site down, it's likely they got it from somewhere that doesn't post the instructions.
