GUFF Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 I noticed this before but it slipped my mind until I was playing an FM a couple hours ago, but there seems to be no check as to whether an AI can actually see a rope arrow's rope. It seems that even in complete darkness when there's no way they can see a player in the same light level, they'll still see a rope arrow and be alerted. Also, even non-intelligent AIs like zombies and spiders will also see and react to rope arrows like this, even in darkness. Quote

RJFerret Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) I just tried this in a section of my WIP that's unlit. Rope arrows were noticed without any light. (Let's add this feature as an alternative absence_marker!) ;-) r_showlights 2 confirmed no light volumes reached it, and I also made sure the part dangling into lower areas was not lit either. AluminumHaste Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Did the AI bump into the rope? Quote On 9/18/2015 at 12:32 PM, Springheel said: I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.
RJFerret Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 No (I thought of that too, so tested three circumstances, two distinctly had the rope out of the way). GUFF Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 No. They saw it in complete darkness from a distance and went alert and approached it. This also applied to zombies and spiders in similar conditions. I think I first noticed it while playing Knighton Manor, but Solar Escape was the mission I was playing around in when I was reminded of it and thought something was off. RJFerret confirmed it. Quote
grayman Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 I need a test map for this. I can't reproduce the problem, as I noted in the issue. Quote
