I have updated The Accountant 1: Thieves and Heirs to version 1.1, this update is now live in the ingame menu downloader. The main change is that now it requires 2.06 or newer and I've upgraded the briefing video from ROQ to MP4, there are some minor bug fixes too. A full list of bug fixes can be found below, but there are some spoilers in there so I recommend only viewing them if you've finished the mission.

Yes that assumption is correct, I am currently in the process of updating all of my FMs, I am going through and doing bug fixes and updating the briefing videos from ROQ to MP4 too. However I wasn't planning to reveal anything about that until the project was finished. I haven't had enough time to tweak or setup anything yet though, so i'm probably not the best source of information or example at the moment.

Congratulations on releasing your first mission!

DarkRadiant 2.6.0 released
Goldwell replied to greebo's topic in DarkRadiant Feedback and Development
Congrats and thank you! -
Not so much as a bug but rather a funny coincidence. I knocked out a guard in my WIP and he landed like this, gave me a good chuckle seeing him stuck in in the exorcist pose

Grimwood really shows off the forest and mountainous parts of Northdale

One last showcase of screenshots from Shadows of Northdale Act 2, it's getting so close to being finished now. This mission has grown into a much larger project than originally anticipated, after the accountant 2 I vowed to never make a large mission again.. and here I am with a mission even larger than that! My original goal was to have this released in May however due to my free time becoming less and less nowadays, that more than likely will be pushed back to a June/July release window. It all depends on when I can get free time to work on this and limiting doing too much to avoid burnout, because currently I am really feeling burnt out on TDM. But needless to say the wait should not be too long until you can all continue your journeys in Northdale. I'll be back to post the briefing video once the project enters beta as is tradition for me, until then here is the final screenshots i'll be posting from act 2

Staring a "Beginner's Questions" board in Editing and Design?
Goldwell replied to Rooz's topic in The Dark Mod
Welcome to the forum Rooz! In terms of your original idea, I have felt too that the newbie questions thread is a bit of a mess, just a clump of thoughts and ideas over the years however I handle most enquires to what I don't know by either googling "site:forum.thedarkmod.com query" or attempting to use the boards search engine (which isn't all that great tbh). Another idea as destined suggested to create your own mapping thread, most people here peruse the forums at some time or another and the overall vibe of the community is very helpful and nice so don't be afraid to ask something, we were all beginner mappers at some point. Good luck with your mapping! -
I get that people are going to do whatever they want, and really there is no way to stop someone from doing that unofficially. But officially I do not think we should condone or support that behavior. Especially since it only happens by one person usually. All Im asking is that we enforce a little common sense and decency and respect towards authors who offer up their work for us all to enjoy. The free sharing nature of this mod is great, and in my personal experience I have shared assets with those who have asked and vice versa. But we shouldnt be allowing someone to make modifications to released missions without the authors permission. If they give it then cool all the power to that person, but if they dont then this person needs to find somewhere else that will take them. Im not saying lock everything down or anything like that, just please dont support or offer ways to support this bad behavior.

I think it’s common courtesy and basic respect for another author to ask them for permission to use their maps and assets. If you just go into another authors work and start making drastic changes and then release it as a new version that is really not cool unless they give you permission and you abide by their rules. But really I don’t understand the point of that, we are a very small community and nearly 6 months into the year we have only had four missions released with one of them being a test arena so not really a traditional mission. I think it is much better to spend the time and energy working on new content to keep the community alive and active. Unfortunately due to the behavior you’re trying to condone, we have lost authors and upset the ones who remain. It’s best to not mess with others work unless you receive permission. If we all can’t agree on such a simple and obvious premise then there is no hope for mappers who want just a little bit of respect towards their work and their original vision. We all donate our fan missions by using our free time, hard work and effort and the only reward we receive is entertainment from others and credit for their work. Let’s not try to take away the latter of those two. So please stop defending behavior that is actively hurting the part of the community that create the missions we all play, on the surface you might think it’s a force for good but behind the scenes, authors are not happy. Why don’t you see more authors publicly speaking? Either they’re in the minority who don’t mind or they deal with such issues in private.

DarkRadiant 2.6.0 pre-release testing
Goldwell replied to greebo's topic in DarkRadiant Feedback and Development
I just downloaded it and opened it and no crash here. I'm on windows 10, using the x64 portable version in a fresh folder of course. -
Bikerdude, I mean this sincerely. But you need help buddy. You’re currently lashing out with a revised version of events of what actually happened. Dragging a lot of names through the mud, I’m sorry that you feel so negatively towards me and others. But what you are stating simply isn’t true, and most discussions behind the scene are aware of that. I did not want to post here because I don’t have anything to do with your latest problem with Melan but I do feel like I should correct the record a bit here, especially with the claims you're making. But you and I and many others have been down that path before. There have been long talks with various members about your behavior over the years. So, shouldn't the fact that you’ve encountered so many issues with various people indicate that perhaps the problem is not external but rather internal? You can be a very helpful guy to new and upcoming mappers and to people who get stuck, but judging by the fact that you’ve had clashes between many different members on the dark mod, doesn’t that suggest that maybe people don’t enjoy the way you conduct yourself? I hope you don’t take it personally, but please get some help to deal with whatever demons you are facing. And if you do decide to come back then maybe just focus on your own missions because I and many others really enjoy playing your missions. And if you focus on you, I think you’ll have a much better time here. Good luck with it all man.

Feature Request Favorite Folders

Yes! btw is it possible to squeeze this into 2.6.0 ? it's just such a usable feature that it would be fantastic to have it available on release. -
Feature Request Favorite Folders
Goldwell replied to Goldwell's topic in DarkRadiant Feedback and Development
It looks and feels pretty good, one small change though. Could you please add the ability to favorite entire folders? with the current setup it's only letting me do individual textures. One problem I noticed as well is that we can't multi select textures, now that decision makes sense because otherwise we could multi select textures and then try to apply that to a brush/face which wouldn't work. Maybe one work around for that is if there are multiple textures selected we can only have an option to add/remove from favorites? like all of the other items in the context menu disappear. That way we can't accidentally try to apply multiple textures to the same brush. But if a single item is selected then we get the full menu when we right click on the entry. -

Did you get a chance to check out this suggested feature yet? http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/19397-feature-request-favorite-folders/ -
Yes I too would be interested in knowing that, dmapping does feel a lot smoother in 2.06 but that could just be a placebo effect.

That second shot is incredible! I remember seeing another angle of that same scene years back, it was this one: Which has always been my favorite visual scene in any tdm mission. It's so good to have you back and working on things again!
