  1. Actually, is this like a circle in the center of the screen, or red glow on the edges? Because right now, if you get hit, there already is red glow on the edges, only it's all-around rather than just in the direction of the attack. I think the latter option would be okay to have. Don't think it's necessary, but, hey, if it's there...
  2. Are you implying there will be more detail passes for that scene?
  3. Okay, so I couldn't run the game in fullscreen mode: it would just reset the r_fullscreen to 0 every time it loaded. Turns out it was an arg on a file inside the package: contents/MacOS/Doom 3 automatically sets r_fullscreen to 0, which is annoying if you want to play the game in full screen. Looks stable otherwise. I'll go test some missions now.
  4. I mean that people who want content with depth will cluster together and form a market. This is precisely what is happening here at TDM. It's not like there won't be any in-depth content ever, it's just more of a niche thing.
  5. I thought Woah was being rather glum. At least that's how I interpreted it. By saying "we'll fix it", I mean we can make something work. It's a figure of speech I tend to use in daily communication, but that is in Dutch (and also probably very regional), so it probably doesn't translate that way to English.
  6. Worked for me just fine, though I haven't done extensive testing.
  7. I have a strong sense that this, in the end, will turn out alright. There will always be people devoted to content with some depth to it, and you are most certainly not alone. The internet makes it possible to find these like-minded individuals and build something worth sharing. Don't be so glum, we'll fix it!
  8. Here's a quick guide to installing, so you can see if you missed any steps: 1. Download the 2.0 binaries from Malex' mydrive: mydrive.ch with username darkmod@malex984 and password darkmod 2. Download the full 2.0 pack. This torrent works. 3. Put the full 2.0 pack in ~/Library/Application Support/Doom 3/darkmod 4. Extract and copy over the binaries from Malex, overwriting any conflicts. 5. TDM should now work. If it doesn't, run gdb.sh using the terminal (just type in ~/Library/Application\ Support/Doom\ 3/darkmod/gdb.sh and it should work) and post your output here. Did you check it was in the /application support/doom 3/darkmod folder?
  9. Man, that sucks ass. Leave it to Microsoft to screw their customers over.
  10. Hey Malex, sorry for taking such a long-ass time to get to work, it's been a busy two weeks. Downloading 2.0 as we speak, will report back if I encounter any problems. EDIT: Okay, so I'm having trouble getting the program to run. I tried downloading the torrent texmex posted, copying over the binaries I got from mydrive.ch and just running the app. It says "Doom 3 quit unexpectedly". Then I ran it in gdb.sh (from inside the darkmod folder) where it just got stuck in a non-responsive state after which I force quit the program. You can find the output here: http://pastebin.com/t0gv9jMs I also tried running gdb.sh from my home folder, which produced a much shorter output: http://pastebin.com/wRELAUDG Am I missing something in the install process?
  11. Well the idTech engine is quite an old piece of software. It's being worked on, I believe.
  12. Can we, like, stop with the run-on sentence and the big words now? They make my head hurt.
  13. Yeah, the item group hotkeys are what I use for navigating my inventory too.
  14. Anyway, my near-OCD determination to go skybox-walking aside: well done again! Excellent first-time map which may even stir me into trying to go through the tutorial. Dammit, I knew I didn't check thoroughly enough. You managed to get up on the chimney (which has a bit of player clip) and from there onto the roof of the barn?
  15. Yeah, I read about that earlier. Clever. Really though, the alarm bells should've gone off when the institute of standards just put forth an elliptic curve with no explanation as to where it came from.
  16. I knew copper cable was super easy due to tempest, but glass fiber would be much more technical because of having to split the cable and such. Impressive and worrying. NSA has been doing illicit stuff since the beginning of the organisation. Did you know that they pushed IBM (I think it was IBM) to use a 56-bit key for their DES standard rather than a 64-bit key? This was in the early 1970's!
  17. It takes a while to first load a level, especially on slower PCs.
  18. I'd say the best of both worlds would be a series of, say, 3 short missions. That way you can develop the story while still allowing for breaks.
  19. Can't you just use hashfunctions which are built into the OS? Also, please don't use MD5.
  20. Well, I've never tested before, but I am decently good at finding all sorts of shenanigans in videogames. So if you'll have me, I'll help you test.
  21. The idea is not to force the player to use anything. The idea is to encourage the player to experiment and play around. In the process the player could use flashbombs should they choose to. You could do a big room at the end, but I'd say you're better off with rooms in between smaller sections. After learning how to blackjack is an excellent place to host a room to play with the basics. Then after learning about arrows and flashbombs another room.
  22. I'll get back to replaying this; I think this will be a lot more fun second time around. Is the 2.0 version compatible with TDM 1.08? I'm on a Mac so I don't have access to TDM 2.00.
