  1. Hey Malex, I'd be willing to help out. I have a bit of experience with coding and stuff, but nothing really major (I mainly use it to solve mathematical problems).
  2. Only halfway? I don't get like that until 10+ beers. I think, because usually I don't remember a whole lot about those nights.
  3. I'm with you, PranQster. This mission has been sitting in my Dark Mod for almost two weeks now, but I haven't gotten far into it because I'm busy doing other stuff. Having a lot fun though.
  4. Up higher than down. Is this real life? Here's mine: This is on peak trafic time (18:20). It goes up to maybe 8.5/0.85 in the calmer hours. Upgrading next week or so.
  5. Actually, ctrl+Q is pretty standard in closing applications in general. In fact, on Mac computers, the sure-fire shortcut to close an application is Cmd+Q. It certainly makes a lot more sense than alt+f4.
  6. Stumpy, it is very much possible to record the gameplay footage from the Xbox or Playstation to your computer, so you don't need the pc version. Soul, extra material has to be downloaded to the hard drive. It is not present on the disk at release.
  7. That has got to be the best thing I've read all week!
  8. It's Ubisoft, what did you expect. They fucked up the Assassin's Creed franchise as well.
  9. Finally finished all three missions, and it pains me to say that every single one of them had a moment where I just got fed up with the mission and had to go do something else. Mostly because 90% of the doors were unpickable, and this just bummed me out as I tried to find a way in through the roof and failed. I wanted to play as a thief, but what I got instead was a traceur. Now I don't really mind verticality, not at all, but I don't think you should force anything on the player. Unpickable doors were WAY overused. I liked the first mission the best, except for The second mission I didn't like that much, because I choked really hard at The third mission was kinda enjoyable, but In between the frustrating moments, the missions were fun to play though.
  10. This should not be a concern, because anything that is beyond those 400 results can be found with a different search phrase because it's that irrelevant. Searching on the internet is an interactive process; you might want to research the syberian tiger, so you type in "Syberian Tiger" on Google. This gives you a couple of pages with information, which leads you to pursue new avenues of research such as "Syberian Tiger Reproduction". Digging through more than 400 results is a horribly ineffective strategy for finding the information you want. Basically, Google trusts their users to have at least some semblance of Google-fu. And, in fact, Google very likely has the capacity to find 5 800 000 results. This is part mathematics and a clever algorithm, but they also have massive (ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE) datacenters.
  11. You go to the big editor, then below the text box is a place where you can upload files. Then there will be a button that says "add to post". Also, I gave it another readover; corrected a few grammatical mistakes, translated a sentence I overlooked, corrected whip/handkerchief, shortened captain's report book dialog to make it read like it's just short notes. dutch.lang.txt
  12. I thought I got whip wrong! Heer does indeed mean Lord. We use the word "meneer" as you use the word "Herr".
  13. Hey, I saw this thread and figured I'd give translating to Dutch a shot. I did this in like 30 minutes so there's probably some issues here and there. Also, you're most likely going to have to realign the text since the phrasing I used is sometimes quite different so as to make reading it a bit more natural. I've attached the file to this post. What do you mean when you say "wipe"? Is it like a handkerchief (German Taschentuch)? Or is it like a whip? dutch.lang.txt
  14. Yeah, I forgot to read Sykes' journal because You could do something alike with Grindel (people going the "wrong" way). Throw around some notes that mention keeping an eye on Grindel, with a description or map of the road to his home. And then maybe replace Grindel's map of the area with a map of the hideout in specific. Anyhow, that's not really something you'd change in an already released mission, but it's something to think about.
  15. Well, fuck. Looks like I'm going to stick with 1.08 until it's time for a new computer.
  16. Do you need OSX testers as well? I'd be happy to help if needed.
  17. Actually new post because I got it working. Turns out the Pak00*.pk4 files in ~/Library/Application Support/Doom 3/base were required. The fix is really easy. Here's an instruction. "How to get TDM 1.08 working on Mac OSX in 10 easy steps." 1. Buy Doom 3 from the App Store and allow it to install. 2. Check version number. Open up Doom 3, hit Escape to skip the ID software cutscene, then hit ctrl+alt+~ to bring up the console. It should say 1.3.1.1304. 3. If the version number is not correct, I have uploaded the patch here (if that's not okay, please let me know and I'll remove it). Alternatively, get it here. 4. Get Malex' 1.08 build. I have uploaded it here so it doesn't require a login. (again, if it's not okay I'll remove it) Alternatively, get it from Malex' drive at http://www.mydrive.ch (login: "darkmod@malex984", Password: "darkmod"). Just navigate to the site and login with those credentials. 5. Unpack the file you downloaded to ~/LIbrary/Application Support/Doom 3/. 6. Open up Terminal, navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Doom 3/darkmod. The following command will do the trick: cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Doom\ 3/darkmod 7. Next, run tdm_update.macosx with the following command (don't just go ctrl+click and run the script with Terminal, because the files it downloads will end up in your home folder): exec ~/Library/Application\ Support/Doom\ 3/darkmod/tdm_update.macosx 8. Copy over TDM.app and tdm_game03.pk4 from /darkmod/release Now for the fix. 9. Go to your Doom app, ctrl+click (or right click), select "Show Package Contents" and navigate to /Contents/Assets/base 10. Select everything that has "Pak" in it's name, and copy those files to ~/Library/Application Support/Doom 3/base Done! Can somebody please update at least the links everywhere, since this process took me 3 days to figure out.
  18. Okay, so I have this issue as well. My computer is a 2011 iMac with OSX 10.6.8. I downloaded Doom 3 from the App Store, installed Malex' version of TDM and went to play. I used the TDM icon to start the game. However, there is no dynamic lighting and instead of smoke there's black boxes. When I try to launch TDM from inside Doom 3, the application just quits, not even an error message. When I launch TDM from the icon and quit, it gives an error message that Doom 3 suddenly stopped working. I already tried reinstalling TDM and reinstalling Doom 3. Neither of those worked. Here's the error log: http://pastebin.com/eu5g3XYE What it looks like is that it can't find a bunch of assets (I'm guessing these are contained within Doom 3). My Doom 3 was installed into the main applications folder rather than my personal folder, maybe that's a problem? Any help is appreciated, this looks like an absolutely fantastic mod! EDIT: So I looked at it again, and I didn't patch the game. When trying to patch, it said the game was installed incorrectly, with the following error message: The installation of Doom 3 (located at ~/Library/Application Support/Doom 3/darkmod) is not valid. Install Doom 3 again to fix this problem. Also, in console the version number is like 5636. I currently have tried to completely remove Doom 3 (both the Application Support folder and the actual App), and am now trying to reinstall it. EDIT2: Okay, so I reinstalled Doom. The version number is 1.3.1.1304, so it ought to be the right version. I'm now going to reinstall TDM following Malex' instructions to a T and see if that magically solves my problem.
