  1. @ AliminiumHaste: Oh, right. Swimming wasn't there, didn't think of that. Also there's an issue when you were leaning left or right, when you got back into normal position, you had moved slightly towards the side you leaned to, which could make you fall off a ledge, when you were right on the edge. Happened to me once in the 3 times i played it through i think, so not really a serious issue. And mantling didn't always work in Thief 1 & 2 also, so...
  2. I guess he means the inofficial upgrade. It fixes the thing with loading areas within missions, which is meant with "broken" i guess. Because apart from that, there is nothing broken with the missions really. Nice to see some love for TDS here btw. It often gets an undeserved bashing here and more on TTLG. It's not nearly as shitty as it's made (mostly by people who played it for less than an hour...). Especially the comparison with Deus Ex 2 is funny. Yes, they run the same engine, but Thief 3's levels are way larger, and thw gameplay is way closer to the prequels. Further, there's lots of false stuff claimed, e.g. that the movement is simplified. Where? You can do anything you could in Thief 1 and 2... another thing claimed was that the head movement would be broken. Wrong too, ppl just don't get that the character moves his head first, then the body. Basically as it would be in real life, you don't have your head stationary and move your whole body as in Thief 1 and 2. Lots of false assumptions imo from people who didn't give the game enough time and attention it seems. Oh well, shall they pass on the fun.
  3. I recently moved from Linux Mint/Ubuntu which i used for years on my laptop to Win Vista. Go figure... it really has many problems. I must admit i was after program compatibility too though.
  4. Ok, fair enough. Each to its like, what i consider boring, other people may like. Still interested what people would think of an implementation like the one in the video though. I find it upright great, and also much more skillful than basically "remembering when the sound stopped". Althought it won't happen i would think it would be a great addition to a Thief game, as lockpicking should be one of the basic and main skills of a thief .
  5. IMO the lockpicking system should be improved. As it is now, i find it a bit boring. But that's not just limited to TDM, actually in most games the lockpicking is boring. Best implementation i've seen so far was in Fallout 3, but i'm not sure if something like that is even possible with the TDM engine. A video example of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXGErjv2E_I What do you think of that?
  6. Rinshibuya, i can feel for you. Tears of St Lucia was one of the first missions i tried on TDM, and the guy drove me nuts... as the first time i played it, i also didn't find the way around him. Well, the obvious trick would probably throwing an object to disctract him, as already been proposed. Or killing him with an arrow in the face, if you're not into not killing people on a mission.
  7. Weird. Did you update your 1.0x version, or did you do a new install of 2.0? Because i did upgrade, and there definitely is less performance on my system.
  8. Unfortunately, this mission eats my CPU alive, so i won't be able to play it until i get a new PC. :/ Not that it wouldn't be time to buy a new one. TDM 2.0 in general seems to be more demanding. Edit: Saw in the first post now that it's recommended to adjust the LOD sliders. Will try that then.
  9. Same here. Having TDM on Steam would benefit much to spread the word. Also the ease of installation and auto update process are great things to have.
  10. I can very well understand you if that helps. Big fan of ambient and atmospheric music myself.
  11. Well, i'm neither optmistic nor pessimistic, rather neutral. I won't be able to play the game when it comes out (computer too old and crappy), but i surely will play it at some time. I rather make up my own mind about it then, i don't trust 3rd party opinions much, especially when it comes to certain cult games, there'll always be some kind of fanboyism involved (no offense to anyone, that's just the way it is ). And the game mag reviewers usually tend to go for the mass appeal also, and the gaming scene has changed, so. But judging from the videos i watched, it's not half as bad as it has been made in some places (ttlg forums e.g.). But then, i found Thief 3 wasn't half bad too, actually for me one of the best parts of the series.
  12. I didn't try it yet, but i would think you have to make a step forward after blackjacking, to be able to grab him before he falls down.
  13. Edit: Just saw i commented a 2 year old post.
  14. Hm, that screams for an implementation of an AI reaction on the air draft from the blackjack. Or the sound when it swooshes through the air. Like "Huh! What was that!" "Oh well... just the wind i guess..."
  15. Same here. Actually i even had to move Thief from the Steam folder, in order to apply the TFix/newdark patch, because somehow Steam corrupted some files in the folder, and i had some problems with the ingame menus. Most modern games do have the Steam DRM though, so they have to stay where they are...
  16. Well, if Steam had so many issues, it wouldn't be so popular i guess. I'm sorry it doesn't work for you though, it sure does for me, and obviously for a lot of people also. *shrugs*
  17. There are quite a few gamers in poland btw, at least that was my impression from several online games.
  18. Cool, finally Gamestar gives TDM the deserved attention. I was wondering for some time that they never reviewed it. Did someone send them an email? Translation of the conclusion at the end of the article: Very positive review.
  19. No idea what you're talking about. Logins have nothing to do with DRM. Also, the login system of Steam is there for your own safety, so noone can take over your account. Also, i never had a single problem logging in.
  20. Forgot to add that to my list, great game too.
  21. And i thought it was only me... indeed there are a lot of people on TTLG who say no to everything which is remotely different to Thief 1 & 2... real elitist stuff sometimes. Anyway, on-topic, i can't remember now really... i play it since version 1.0 though (took a long break then), and heard of it before the initial release. I think i read about it on some gaming site, but no idea which one.
