  1. Or just let them sleep. After all it's the desired state.
  2. @ Sotha: I maybe quickload 3 or 4 times in a mission, not exactly spamming the button. That's my way of playing and enkoying the game, bit perfectionistic. I get your point about the stealth rating though, it's true. But for me, it's frustrating if i have messed up the whole levelby alerting a lot of guards, call it impatience. Interesting to see though how different the approached are though. I guess the magic for mappers will be to serve most of them.
  3. It would be more acceptable, if the scenario would go along with it, say the mission would be laid out for a "Don't be seen, don't be heard" approach. But in a normal mission, i don't understand a mission objective like "Don't KO or kill anyone". I mean, why? They don't see your face anyway when you blackjack them...
  4. Well, of course it's down to preference, but a sword fight? Can't imagine a thief sneaking into some mansion, moving from shadow to shadow, only to get into a sword fight the next moment. The moment i have to use the sword, is the moment i will quick load, because for me, it ruins the whole mission when i get caught or seen.
  5. I don't. Some missions are freaking hardcore, especially the ones in which the map designer forces me to ghost on expert difficulty (which is a major design flaw imo, why not let the player decide how he wants to play...).
  6. Yep, always the same with the mobile stuff, always misses some essential features. Nice to have it anyway though. Btw, are there plans for supporting Tapatalk? Would be awesome.
  7. +1 In fact it's was so nice, that i decided to play the whole mission again. Really great for beginners now to get into the game. 2 issues i noticed though: In the alert mission, when you get back out of the room where you hid the first body (after picking up blackjack, and moss arrows, the room which got added), the light from the corridor with the noisy floor, where you blackjacked the guard, shines through the wall. I noticed that in another area too, just can't remember where. Also i found that the breath, visibilty and health display is a bit too milky when under water, so it is difficult to read. Also i found the performance quite poor when under water, but that could be because i activaed bloom now, i guess that's taking a bit of performance. I liked that some parts are much brighter now, they were too dark. Also the lighting seems to have been improved.
  8. I'm happy this is still being discussed. IMO it would bring a lot of attention on TDM, both from players and mappers (i often read this mod is short on mappers). As has been said, Steam doesn't have to be mandatory, but another way of distribution, and, more importantly, hyping.
  9. Well, it corresponds with something i read about it some time ago. Can't find the article now, but anyway. What i'm trying to say is, that Steam, as Microsoft with their game stuff, strives for the monopole, as any other company does, which is quite natural for business stuff. They don't propagize Linux, because it's better suited or whatever (how, with the driver situation, and the whole system not optimized for game performance), but because it suits Steam better. And that's the only reason.
  10. Looks like it had to do with the Xbox Live integration mostly: http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/culture/2012/07/valve-panics-windows-8-prepares-drink-steams-milkshake
  11. Actually there was a problem Valve had with Windows 8, something not supported they wished it was supported or so, thus Steam propagizes Linux now. To hype it is a decision for the companies (Valve's) sake, nothing else.
  12. I always take some refreshments in the missions.
  13. I've only just seen this, awesome trailer. I especially like the introduction, made me smile , and the showcasing of what's possible with object manipulating. Now imagine this trailer on Steam, who would want to play Thief 4, if you can have this for free...
  14. I'm playing through Thief Gold atm (totally awesome). Took a long time for me to figure out that the burricks react very sensitive on blackjack knocks from behind...
  15. How about a new gadget, something like Splinter Cell's optic cable: http://splintercell.wikia.com/wiki/Optic_Cable from the inventor guild. Not sure if that's possible anyway though.
  16. They hype it for the sake of their own business atm.
  17. It probably depends on the model really. Never had a problem regarding drivers with my X-Fi Extreme Music...
  18. Hm, i wasn't aware of that. Just started Thief Gold, and indeed it supports EAX with OpenAL even on my card (with the TFix patch). Nice!
  19. I have an Asus Xonar DS, and while being quite happy with it, it has drivers issues too, which never got fixed. I have a front panel, to plug in my headphones, and in 9 out of 10 cases, it doesn't change the sound output to the headphones, but instead leaves it on the rear output, so i have to switch that manually every time. The 2nd big let down is the lack of EAX. It has some "fake EAX" stuff afaik, but in most games, i can't enable EAX. Which Creative sound card did you have? I had a Creative X-Fi Extreme Music before this card, but unfortunately it broke. I was really happy with it... great sound, EAX in every game, and very low latency when i did audio stuff. Edit: Oh, and onboard sound cards on modern, nowadays mainboards are really much, much better than they used to be. I don't think you can expect crackles, fewer sounds, and stuff like that with the newer onboard cards.
  20. Very nice ideas, would love to have those in TDM. Not from Dishonored, but it would be nice to have the "back against the wall" leaning thing from TDS in TDM. I always felt kind of weird when kneeling, and a guard passes close before me, when i could back off further by just standing up and having my back against the wall. Would be more realistic too.
  21. For example the default used wireless driver for my netbook's wireless device couldn't connect me to my router. I had to install another driver to make it work. Do i even have to explain that linux' grahpics card drivers are often bad, because they don't support all hardware capabilities? For example that they're optimised for the hardware, support all stuff the hardware is capable of, are mostly performance optimized and and and... loads of stuff which most linux open source drivers aren't, because someone is working in his spare time on them, and has to do a lot of reverse engineering to make them work. @ zergrush: Please reply to my post as a whole, because it is a whole. Ripping it apart and bashing on single points doesn't do it justice, thanks.
