As much as I hate to say it, I kinda have to agree here. I played Q2 only once, because I thought the graphics was ridiculous even when the game was fresh out. Remember the explosions? Orange translucent balls FTW! Also, I found the story to be quite lame. That being said, the "story" of Q1 was not worth mentioning, too. Still, I still know each and every Q1 map by heart. I hated Q3, while I absolutely love Q4 (and still can't understand why it failed). I thought it to be better than D3, which I rate as okay-ish (I hate out-of-the-blue spawning monsters). My main beef with Rage is that when you buy the German version, you only get to play it in German. There is no fall-back to English, as most other games offer. Also, the bugs (texture-streaming, anyone?) are so severe that I have no idea how this game could ever pass the QC department (if there actually is one).

Do you play with AA enabled? I'm just wondering how much reserve you have. I bought my HD6950/2GB specifically to have more headroom, as in many missions my HD5770/1GB had as little as 20 fps or less (of course, I only play with 4xSS-AA).

SH probably played a pirated copy, as the Russian underground market is among the first world-wide to receive new software. I wouldn't be surprised if his version were pre-beta or something like that. *If* he's actually telling the truth.

If I may add, all of the mappers I approached gladly allowed to have their FMs translated. I have a hard time imagining a TDM mapper who will not gladly have his work brought to a wider audience, especially if it doesn't mean additional work for him. However, should a mapper refuse to grant his permission, we as translators should respect that and not try to translate his work without his consent. All this talk of hosting stuff in Russia gets us nothing and will potentially only spoil the mood in the forum. After all, if a mapper finds an "illegally" translated version of his work, he might be so pissed off that he flat-out refuses to create any more maps. That would be a loss for everybody. My 2 cents.

On the other hand, it might help to import the LANG file to Excel (or any other spreadsheet application) and have a separate column for EN and PL. I found that this helped a lot for the German translation. Just import the file and have Excel interpret the tab stops as dividers for the column. Then again, maybe you don't need that at all.

But how would you swing the hook with the rope? If you are saying "point the hook to the place it should attach to", you already have that - as the rope arrow. Otherwise I cannot imagine how the player would operate such a hook without it being a huge burden.

Some of which you mentioned is partly mended by buying a smartphone with an alternative OS, like Bada from Samsung. To my knowledge, Bada has no remote access for the OS vendor. I'm currently using a Samsung Jét and plan on buying a Samsung Wave 3 for exactly these reasons: I'm just not comfortable with the thought that Apple, Microsoft and Google have full access to my phone and can locate me anytime and anywhere. Of course, everyone has to make this decision for him-/herself, but whenever I get the chance I make the effort of pointing out the downside to those "cool" flashy Android/i-devices. Many people have never heard of the remote access capabilities, and it might change their buying decision if they know. So it's up to us "technical people" to propagate this knowledge.

This is supported by the findings of various hardware sites who tested graphics cards under different PCIe bandwidth. Turns out that benchmark runs with PCIe 8x are just 1 % slower than with x16. Even PCIe 4x is just around 5-10 % slower than 8x, especially since most graphics cards have 512 MB graphics RAM or more onboard.

@BD: I fully agree. Modern Warfare 2 was a downright insult, with a single-player campaign lasting 5-6 hours play-time (according to reviews). The other end was Morrowind with its 300+ hours, which is just massive.

I wouldn't want FB to know when I visited the site, so in case you really add a Facebook button to the TDM site, please use the privacy friendly version provided by the German Heise Verlag. The explanation is written in German, so maybe one of the German team members can do the programming.
