  1. Very good, nicely creepy atmosphere without being completely OTT A very minor point
  2. Buying objectives, now that's an interesting idea, looks good too

    Android

I know companies that still use Windows 95, a few years back there was one still using DOS because their payroll was done using Lotus, not sure if they are still operating though
  5. You could add esoteric sensors for just about anything you like, infra red interface modules, bigger batteries, more ram, better cameras, my personal favourite would be a full size slide out keyboard
  6. Out of those I only really use the browser & the default one is pretty basic in my phone, from the quick skim I jut did it looks like I can use the play store so I could always use Firefox instead. Thanks for the info, I think I'll be giving this a hard look.
  7. Don't they run on top of the android system that's already there though ? or do they completely replace the firmware in the phone ? --EDIT-- DUH! this is on the web isn't it, I can go look for myself, sorry
  8. What would be nice would be if we could get this as a kit, with an open source operating system we compile ourselves, so we know exactly what's on it and what it's doing, they can keep their apps I want my phone to do what I want, nothing more and nothing less. I want the ability to completely wipe and restore my phone with a different OS if I want just like I can with my PC. I want the ability to back my phone up just like I can with my PC. In short I want a PC that can make phone calls rather than a phone that runs prepackaged apps. Never going to happen though
  9. There's a raised wall around a flooded bit at the start of the bonehoard, in T1 if you stand on that zombies will throw stuff at you, in T2/newdark they mill about trying to find a way to reach you but can't
  10. One thing you need to be aware of, the AI behaviour is hard coded into the engine and there's different behaviour between the original T1 Darkengine and the T2 Darkengine. Newdark behaves like the T2 Darkengine. It's a minor thing, for example in the original T1 zombies has a ranged attack where they would throw bits of goo at you if you were out of range, in newdark they this is missing, there may be other slight differences but this is one I noticed
  11. Nice, can we get a firefox OS on it ? & a keyboard would be nice - I'm a luddite who hates typing on screen, sue me
  12. Happy Anniversary & many many thanks
  13. Damn straight, don't you dare!
  14. Saw this at the top of the pile and just for a second I had my heart in my mouth. Don't spoil it by rushing, I'd rather wait another couple of years and play a gem
  15. I check every door, regardless of handles. if cant find a way to make it react by either frobbing or a switch I ignore it from then on. In the original thief I would use a blackjack to make sure something wasn't an object by hitting it, if it made a sound it was an object if it didn't it was a texture applied to a brush, I found a lot of secret doors like that. It's part of the fun.
  16. One thing I do if an ad server is becoming particularly annoying is I track down the URL where the ad is coming from and add it to my hosts file Like so ... 127.0.0.1 ad.uk.doubleclick.net 127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net 127.0.0.1 googleads.g.doubleclick.net ... One or two sites will stop working altogether if you do this as the ad site feeds back to them before proceeding, for those I use adblock & privacy badger Takes a little effort but 90% of adverts & tracking cookies never make it to my machine because I don't get to the site they come from. Also if you have spybot you'll probably find a few thousand entries are already in the hosts file
  17. That tree looks like it's been lifted from Avatar
  18. @venus - from memory also there was a problem with the optional loot objective not being optional but I think that was fixed in the last release, if you have an early release make sure you complete the loot objective or you can't exit.
  19. At last we've found a use for internet trolls, they can power industry with their vitriol

    Thief 4

So the more targets revealed the more chance the AI will trigger ? I like the sound of that. 20 targets sounds a lot though, say 2 per limb, 1 per shoulder, 1 for the torso and 1 for the head so 12 targets, maybe a couple more for the hips to encourage people to keep their bum out of sight. So 12 to 14 targets on the player should do. The closer the AI is the fewer targets would need to be visible so from the other end of the street you'd need most of the targets visible to be definitely spotted, if the AI is on top of you you'd only need 1. You'd probably need a speed of movement multiplier on it as well so running has more chance of being spotted than creeping. Below whatever limit on visible targets you've got from distance you roll the dice based on how many are visible say 10% chance of no reaction, 10% chance of a definite alert, 40% gets the AI wandering over for a closer look and 40% gets a "huh ? is there something there", if the AI isn't alerted this is recalculated every couple of seconds or so while the player is in their sight cone. This is me just thinking aloud btw, I don't seriously expect anyone to implement this
  21. Looks like this issue has been identified and is being fixed, I'm rather relieved it wasn't something I'd done. Can I remove the images & files I uploaded or are these still needed for reference?
  22. I recently downloaded all the available missions, Alberic's Curse wasn't in the list of available ones
  23. Okidoki For the new installation, I renamed the original TDM folder as a backup, made a new TDM folder, downloaded tdm_update into the new folder & ran it, then used the in game mission downloader to get the missions. For the original installation, I downloaded the AtomicGamer DarkMod_2.0.zip file (which I hung on to as I'm a pack rat), unpacked it and ran tdm_update, then manually downloaded missions directly from the downloads page however I found this was giving problems with versions not being up to date so I blew the contents of the FM's folder away and used the in game downloader to repopulate, aaaahhhh that may be why the training mission & St Lucia went missing on the original, doesn't really help with the missing tick on the new install though. Original TDM installation TDM folder, FMS folder, missions.tdminfo Newly installed TDM TDM folder, FMS folder, missions.tdminfo
