  1. I say! I say, keep cutting halves to halves, buoys and growls. Corner the bug. And crush its head. 'Tis headway you make.
  2. I too been to MV Sky(box)scrapers? Structural Struts & Such...
  3. Top 10 ANSI 8-bit characters 1. § 2. ç 3. ¤ 4. » & « 6. ¿ 7. æ 8. þ 9. ³ 10. ±
  4. Hmmmm... well you say that the console isn't giving you any more info than what you've listed here and the crashes don't say much either... All I can recommend now is to delete all of your current TDM install (just TDM) and run tdm_update with just the bloodgate mirror as the uncommented one? I believe that is the primary one? Someone correct me?
  5. Man, I wonder if that has a good story. I mean I know the gameplay mechanics would be a miserable trip down limited lane... And the graphics are dreadfully dated... And you'd have to twiddle the fuck out of the game it's meant to run upon just to make it run on a modern computer... But I wonder if it has a good story and some otherwise interesting gameplay?
  6. Backup the server? Yes. Very important.
  7. Caduceus, Caduceus, Caduceus... Quite an interesting "controversy" about this symbol. Read the discussion at Wiki... some people get quite wound up about it -- on both sides. Another interestingly, multiply coincidental bit is at the top of the wiki about its "Later Antiquity" symbolism -- "the caduceus provided the basis for the astrological symbol representing the planet Mercury and in Roman iconography was often depicted being carried in the left hand of Mercury, the messenger of the gods, guide of the dead and protector of merchants, shepherds, gamblers, liars and thieves.
  8. Bandied a Seed Witch.
  9. Sexiest? Anyway, if you are Windows, and you know where the "Run" dialog is (Start->Run), then you can put this in and the press Enter (yes include the quote marks just in case) : "D:\Games\Doom 3\darkmod\tdm_update" --keep-mirrors (again replacing the head of that path to darkmod with your actual path, which you seem to understand)... Look for an update that results in some downloaded files... and please take note of which mirror you had uncommented at the time, then try to run The Rift and if it works remember the mirror...
  10. I'm thinking you probably have one of the semi-mixed-up TDM installs; it seems some mirrors are hosting imperfect replicas... I believe you can find a file called "tdm_mirrors.txt" in your darkmod folder, and then comment-out (put a "#" at the front of each line) whatever mirros might be suspect. Problem is, which are suspect? I don't know. But maybe you could be the one to discover/verify which is the bestestest!: Comment-out all but 1 and see what happens. I'd start by leaving the lowest "weighted" one uncommented-out and then on and on until maybe something works? Also when you run tdm_update add "--keep-mirrors" to the command line. Hope that too is clear, relevant and doable...? IF you are successful it may be of great use for many.
  11. But... that is a clue towards a solution for at least one of the crashes. Hopefully someone will be along to assist with degenerate triangles, Shaz. Sorry about the "he" assuming.
  12. It's them goddamned degenerate pinheads! Just like all of them gathered up in Washington listening to Glenn Beck.
  13. But he does need the maps folder...
  14. Ah, and too... some fireplaces are brand new... and some people that drink expensive wine from a golden cup can afford scrubberfolk (chamber-men and chamber-maids) to keep the soot to a minimum. And some mages burn magic fires that soot not. And some mappers build in phases that leave out the muckity muck until basic geometry is accompli. And some mechanists have mechanical firesims that are really just lights shay-ped like logs and flames. And usedta be some fireplaces have little switchy-switches that open secret secreting secrets but none have I seen yet under TDM, btw...
  15. You have the strangest sig. There, I said it.
  16. You need to put the map in a folder called maps. On mine it's actually got be under "D:\Games\Doom 3\darkmod\maps" if I'm running TDM to dmap it... so I suspect the same for you (with your path at the head of that one)... I also usually isolate the map in its own folder beneath that (eg "D:\Games\Doom 3\darkmod\maps\rift\rift.map") and then say "dmap \rift\rift"... ETA: I hope that's clear; and I also hope that I'm not misremembering that either type of slash will work because even though I could have saved some time by just going back and editing my post rather than typing this long drawn out sentence about slashes being interchangeable under the D3/D3mod console dmapping system I'd really rather not now that I've started this sentence, but upon reflection maybe I should have because now it has certainly gotten out of control so I'd better shut down now.
  17. I wanna "learn" SAG member Jessica Alba.
  18. Yeah, that's what I was afraid of... It's like when you are a pothead... you think everyone smokes pot... For me, all of the above questions you raise are: yes one-click for me, my client/server is always running; make a torrent for each FM, simple; if the community was as torrent savvy and receptive as I'd hope (but somehow feel might not be) I'd happily open a thread here exclusively for torrents tracked on those (and a few other open) trackers; and etc etc; and torrents are great for everyone! get with it! what sucks are these repositories with ads, wait times, limits, multiple-clicks ups and downs...
  19. Okay, now that makes perfect sense (the pp compiler thing ...not the Python thing ) As I say, you may never hear back from me on this but I do appreciate the info.
  20. I was going to ask "maybe you should take a poll on how many are set up for torrenting"... but rather try how many are not. (That way you make, as they should, those "not"s feel out of the loop, again as they should... The FMs should be torrented here. And tracked on: http://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce http://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce I could keep a heap of them going on that box in there that is folding proteins and curing cancer and such... but I do wonder sometimes if the user community is maybe so out of step with things that torrent-readiness really may be a rarity?
  21. Well, that just proves how lost I am already I thought it'd be in some C; I also thought perl was an interpreted script language; yet tdm_update is an exe complied linked and executable... I pretty far removed obviously. But I've still grabbed what you attached there and will at least get a chance to figure some of my confusion out. So thanks.
  22. Looks really cool to me! And a Rondel series would be funking funky.
  23. I have downloaded the TDM sources... where is the tdm_update source? I'm afraid I've been out of the loop too long and more than that I'm just unreliable these days, but I might give it a looksee because I think this is causing a lot of problems and it would be a less intense thing than jumping in to the DR or TDM code... No promises, not even really a suggestion of a glimmer of hope that I would be able to contribute... but... who knows...
  24. I almost opened a whole thread but (exactly) thought that it would be better here where it might give us all a chance to "mitigate" and appreciate a bit (plus it It wouldn't come off as quite so kiss ass as opening a whole thread). BTW, funnily enough, Sneaksie, I think it was the other day I was going to try and (counterpoint) say something in defense of the right to complain and nudge and noodge a bit as well... I'd seen your(?) statement about ~"alls we hear are bitchingses and whingingses and, what's more, no offers of assistances"~ but didn't get to it quick enough... because then came the "change the entire voice set for character #3" thing. Which made me laugh. And, also, I was disarmed.
