  1. Can the particle emitters be adjusted via LOD so that closer ones emit more particles (etc)?
  2. I'll have to make some noise about this at Rage3d (unless you wanna post there Biker). That should help stir up some vendor interest in the mapping contest
  3. Looking forward to seeing a result shot for the "two spots" image. Has your original swamp map seen any improved performance after the rebuild or will that have to await different models still, etc?
  4. Questions: Since the FM extractor seems to open up the PK4 upon installation, can you include override zzz_stuff.pk4's inside your PK4? Would that even allow you to pack your own custom gamex86.dll inside the override PK4 without interfering with TDM's gamex86.dll system-wide? (I suspect "no" to the second one as there would need some "relinquish control' mechanism to revert back after FM uninstall...)
  5. Fantasy seasons, eh? Asteroid season? Volcano season? Spider season? Season of the Witch!!!! \m/ I think the bulk of the original voters intended the season to be either Winter or Summer. Adding the other seasons was a tweak to add more diversity. Allowing Fantasy seasons would probably burn the last ounce of patience from some voter who wanted "Snow mission contest". If I were a total scumbag, I would get on my soapbox and find a way to steer this contest into a Halloween ( ) contest by belittling every other season's short-comings.
  6. Oh wow. That is missing treasure right there. That's right up there with the resurface the "Raccoon City" mod. I'm sure those assets could be modified and used for a Cyberpunk TDM spin-off... (I will stop daydreaming for a moment until a qualified party chimes in )
  7. I wasn't saying it was easy. (Though... you have "raised the bar" so easy is hard to define... ) I just wasn't sure of 2297's remaining importance... Things keep looking better and better Thanks for all the updates
  8. I wonder if anyone knows where the "Sapphire Scar" (Doom 3 System Shock mod) assets went... HL2 assets can now look appropriate thanks to Sikkpin implementing HL2's ambient cubemap lighting (I even saw an older Doom3world thread where someone made a HL2 style skin shader in ARB shader language...)
  9. Yeah, I have a feeling that 2297 was opened because of your concerns about the dilemma posed by 2593... Now that you've got past that concern 2297 is just a nifty little augmentation...?
  10. Not sure if this is still relevant but: http://bugs.angua.at/view.php?id=543 glReadPixels ??? (edit: It's still listed in the FAQ as a problem... )
  11. Finally added Johannes Burock's WIP mission Updated Killhour's last update...
  12. BTW... Does tracker 2593 fix tracker 2297 ?
  13. All I can say at this point is please keep the conversation going. I have not heard anything from Rage3d yet and I do not want to be inconsiderate and nag Lupine when he already informed me that it may take some time. If Rage3d cannot furbish any feedback about vendor involvement by Monday, I will simply let them know that we are starting now and will welcome their promotion even without any vendor. Keep posting your early confirmations. Thanks.
  14. The "Reviews" tab is for the "mod as a whole". Users could post a review on their own profile but we couldn't properly link it to the "Features" tab unless we created some sort of article that references it... We could just post "Feature Articles" for every mission and let the user comments area take care of "reviews". The actual "Downloads" or "Add-ons" tabs have a "Community Rating" 1-10 scale for each posted item, so that is the place where Moddb intends this to happen.
  15. If I am granted permission to upload all the FM's to Moddb then they could be reviewed there as well
  16. Rebb needs to record a timedemo of a SEED map verses a non-SEED map to get the statistical variation... Or a lucky low-ender needs to get a crack at this
  17. That is why you are a King I will post a new thread with more backbone this time.
  18. We are still hopeful that some of the summer vertical contest entrants will release their missions. So any effort will be appreciated.
  19. WAHOO!!! :D (Somebody has to thank Tels too ...and God... ...)
  20. This is because Fidcal is the kindly King who helped bring the gift of TDM to his subjects. I am the 3rd tier chancellor\bureaucrat who is trying to wrangle the democratic process out of a conflicting public. As long as anyone feels they have just as much legitimate say in how things are run as "the organizer" there will be some noise. But that is the noise of democracy and I think it will work out in the end. Fidcal has been acting as an advisory in this process but it seems that the TDM team in general has been reluctant "lay down the law". (perhaps to avoid internal arguments over silly stuff?). I will again, extend the offer that any of the "Kings of TDM" may intercede and make specific requirements. I kind of wish "Radiator" Yang would pop in and offer some suggestions. His academic take on design ideas would at least lend a somewhat scientific air to anything that is proposed (if only a perceptual one). That kind of "logical" persuasion would likely quell folks holding out for a 3rd re-vote for "Water-slides and moving coal cars mission"... (Gotta make that "The Goonies" themed mission someday... but "The Rift" is enough to tide me over for now )
  21. Let's be realistic. Both "Dark Secret" and "Seasons" are wide-open enough that anything could be the result. There's no reason to have any big antipathy towards either. They are canvases. Thus far the restrictive element is time. I was hoping that size would also be defined. If anybody has a really great restriction to add, I will be all ears. If a Team Member wants to bulldoze the whole enterprise and lay down a really quirky concept, I would be cool with that too. The daylight contest voters may register their objections to the removal of a summer-daylight requirement now
  22. Lets put it this way: I was a pretty good artist in High School to the point that I was bored with drawing pictures as I could implement almost anything I imagined. My kid sister drew a scribble on a page that reminded me of some visual concept. I transformed the scribble into a decent new drawing and was invigorated. The contest theme merely needs to be the scribble that the mapper uses to forge ahead. It can even be a terrible idea because that will inspire mappers to find ways to bend the rules creatively. Both the Seasons idea and the Secret idea are so generic that almost anything could pop-up. At least if we forced mappers to use v1.03 features, or include a triangle building, or have a circular foot patrol, or include a balance beam spanning two buildings, etc... That would constrain the nature of the contest. But those types of specifics seem to be too niche to gain democratic approval. We have a vote winner, unless more folk would come out of the woodwork to say otherwise?
  23. Alright. Jesps is on-board with this contest already. Who will join him?
  24. Well that's two nays. The contest start has not been defined yet so if you need me to delay it, say the word. That would give Lupine more time to seek vendors to sponsor. The theme is primarily an outgrowth for the desire for "Daytime missions" and "Snow" mission (two of the most popular). I agree that a season, of itself, isn't enormously compelling but neither is a theme-less "Christmas Contest" where entrants must enter by said day. I still feel whatever mappers come up with will be varied and excellent.
  25. I have discussed the some general guidelines for this contest and was advised to open a thread to hear some opinions. Here are my preliminary thoughts regarding this contest: Contest length: 3 months All entries must have easily identified "seasonal" characteristics. All "Summer" entries should be daylight maps unless the author can furbish enough proof that their night mission is happening in the Summer (desert locale, skimpy attire on AI?, etc). Some arbitrary size limit? I thought about having a clause for Campaigns: "If authors collaboration with other authors to produce a multi-mission campaign, the best mission from the campaign will be evaluated against the best single maps." (The best compromise to produce "No extra advantages but no penalty for this approach") Lupine from Rage3d has expressed positive interest in being involved but has, understandably, offered his concern that it may take more than a week from his initial notification (last week) to involve any vendors that could offer some prize. This is not an essential feature to the contest but is more of an attempt to entice the Doom 3, Dromed, and "the mapping community in general" to try out this mission creation platform. Please post any thoughts, preferences, things that would make or break this contest for you? (You may also let me know, early, if you already intend to participate.)
