  1. Cryostasis is a great niche game. I suspect it will gather a cult following--somewhat like Sanitarium from 1998--slowly over time. I don't truly understand the plot but the atmosphere--those ice effects--was second to none. It'll chill your bones; if you don't like the cold, might wanna skip. Otherwise, seek it out. It might just change your life
  2. I think we all want to see you get started, implementing your game idea...
  3. Sounds like a good idea. Great mission, btw! Nothing beats a grand adventure underground. Do you hope to make this into a full campaign?
  4. I don't know if it was just me, but it seemed even a well-placed arrow to the head wasn't good enough to take them down; I'd usually need a second shot, by which time the stealth score went way up. (I ended up with an embarrassing score.) Maybe my aim was a little off, or the ratmen were already on alert?
  5. You're saying there's another objective besides getting Bellero back to the city!? (I also got the loot objective after grabbing enough booty)
  6. That may well be. Even so, I can't think of any other forum I've been that would tolerate posts like that, again and again. Allowing these kinds of comments continually, is nearly akin to condoning them, if I may be blunt.
  7. I agree in principle. I wish I could just "not care"... just peak in and remove hat for a second, realize it's not worth the bother, and put the hat back on as I glide through the door. Alas, I cannot. The Outlooker is just begging for punishment (and yes, I am the Law... ) I'm not sure we've done enough, and therein lies the rub. This guy needs to know these dissertations of "social truth" as he sees it are not acceptable, not even in an anonymous forum where he can hide himself--just like your standard coward. Who does he think he is? Can you imagine players new to the Dark Mod coming here and seeing these methodical, hate-filled treatises? Not that it's going to have a real impact but I think the forum is better off without it, at very least.
  8. Outlooker, forget about this social status, money, resources nonsense. It's not going to pay off for you, anyway; not even if you're resume is 3 pages long and you fit your own definition of an "elite." You're a hateful person with profound derision for, well, anyone besides yourself. I think maybe some cats wouldn't notice your heart of stone; human beings, on the other hand--including "high quality mates"--can see it on your sleeve.
  9. I was actually able to finish the game. Thankfully after getting a little help for Day 1, I was able to figure out the major game mechanics, and got through the rest of the game with minimal use of walkthrough. But it's a long slog for several reasons. Still, an amazing game, overall. Will give more impressions of it later on
  10. I am suspicious. While he appears to know a few things about TDM, he claims never to have played it and unable to install it. And yet, he was able to sign up for this forum. That, along with some other things, makes me wonder about troll. Could this be a disgraced ex-member, back to haunt the forum?
  11. I'm utterly absorbed in Pathologic HD these days, and I only peruse one game at a time... but will get to Volta 2 eventually. Could this be the best TDM mission ever? It sounds like it could be. The first one was great... pretty much a top 5 mission, at least.
  12. Keep it clean, guys. That has no place on TDM forums.
  13. Good idea. Please do install The Dark Mod, you have no idea what you've been missing. Don't worry about any updates or things like that, for now.
  14. Yikes, that quite makes me speechless. And makes my comment look all the more stupid, petty, etc. My apologies, it's a "foot in the mouth" moment... a good example of how envy and insecurity distorts the mind. I don't think Abusimplea is being a selfish fool with his suggestion, necessarily... I think the idea being it might be a good way to get his mind off some terrible circumstances.
  15. Was the game based on a stage play?
  16. I like how you're able to recycle parts from other mods, arrange them to fit your vision, and essentially come up with something new. I'd call it "sampling" and it's a real art. It's also probably one of the fastest ways to get started.
  17. (removed my stupid insensitive comment) It's a rather cynical thought to think that the only way toward the heart of a lass, for boffins like me, is to offer up a fat resume with a fat income, to prove worthiness. Pray tell, why is it an awkward geek is not good enough by himself minus the materialist trappings?
  18. I was already playing with The Bachelor... the game is still hard for me, it's slow, it's hard to understand, it doesn't often tell you *clearly* what to do. I had to use the walkthrough and even watch a video to figure out what I was doing wrong in Day 1. At least I'm not the only one, just looking around there are a lot of folks who had trouble figuring it out; a lot of players who gave up quickly. Keep in mind though, I definitely don't hate the game, and I'm not giving up! I think it's fascinating and possibly even genius, if you look past the rough edges. It's just "over my head" a bit, given not just my ADD (trouble paying attention) but the mild autism for me, makes it hard to read between the lines, understand subtext, etc. This game is full of symbolic language and other things, that I can't process the meaning. Autism interferes with language processing, you see.. it's a comprehension problem, among other things.
  19. Yes, it should be version 1.6. I just used the in-game mission downloader like usual, several days ago, to get the mission. It says 1.6 version. The newspaper thing is not a big deal but I felt I'd bring it up anyway. The other thing, where I thought there was a glitch because I didn't start with the blackjack and sword... I guess that one is solved, since the level was designed that way. I even had the armory key and for some reason didn't put 2 and 2 together. Yep, I'm a dim bulb, alright..
  20. I'm a sucker for unique, macabre games (or uniquely macabre and so this game fits the bill. However, even on Day 1, I can barely understand most of what the game is talking about. It doesn't make sense! The game also doesn't give many specifics on what to do, or how to proceed. If you don't figure it out before the day ends, you lose. It's not fair, man. I need guidance and the game just doesn't care. I need to be told what to do and where to find things, and yet, this game is like an iron curtain. Maybe I'm just too much wimp?
  21. Ah, my fault, then. I got the armory key but must have missed that room. Then I checked a Let's Play video recently where the player *started* the level with the sword and blackjack, and was thrown off, thinking mine was glitched. Maybe that was an earlier version of the mission, in the video?
