  1. Looking at the material file wiki page: Frob Highlight Stage isn't needed anymore since 2.11 right? I thought I understood that there might still be a reason to use it sometime. If not, I'll update that wiki page. Edit: The info is actually already there, but in a confusing way.
  2. Ok thanks. I simply didn't understand how materials work I guess. I have to revisit the wiki.
  3. Btw. https://www.thiefguild.com/ has outdated links for mission downloads (Sneak and Destroy got outdated with this update, for example). I think all missions there should link to the mission page here https://www.thedarkmod.com/missions/ for the download.
  4. Because the mission got an update (subtitles) the download link on The Thief's Guild doesn't work anymore. Sorry! Could you, instead of listing one download, link to this page for the download: https://www.thedarkmod.com/missiondetails/?internalName=sneak_destroy The download links there are automatically updated with every release and there are more of them.
  5. I actually had a situation in Tears of St Lucia where I set notarget in the console, moved behind the guard standing in the tunnel leading to the church and then I blackjacked him on the legs constantly until he died. He didn't do anything about it, apart from making sounds.
  6. Maybe you can pm me when you're done. Then I will update the posts. I'll message you when I'm done play(testing) ws5.
  7. Could you test the same when using a sword? Same behaviour? I think the guard should have specific reactions to his colleage making those pain screams.
  8. I love the looks, atmosphere and layout of this mission and the map is beautiful drawn. I just found it took too long to find a clue about Deacon. It's all in one building and most other places feel very empty. There's a sound file in the sound\sfx folder called message_smythe.ogg . It's from an audiograph, I think, but I never found the audiograph. I found only 3 music audiographs. Is it actually included somewhere in the mission and if, where can I find it? message_smythe.ogg No, I knocked out the killer and (ironically) left him in a room together with one of his victims. I later returned and then he was gone. So I had to search him. Luckely this wasn't too hard in this case. We'll never find out what he would do about it..
  9. Btw. is there a way to reload subtitles without restarting tdm? So let's say I test a subtitle and then I edit the subtitle while the game is running. If I load a save I don't get the edited subtitle it seems.
  10. Just something I found when browsing games on Steam. Looks familiar? Apparently made by one guy.
  11. Unity is laying off 25 percent of its staff, I read.
  12. In the first post of the other topic Geep proposed: Then Stgatilov's answer: But I think applying subtitles in different languages shouldn't be too hard I would think, but I don't know how the current translation system works. The engine should apply the correct subtitles based on the applied language setting, this doesn't need a whole new language system I think. Not sure who's going to write those subtitles though. I can only do Dutch and English and nobody needs Dutch I think. I suggest further discussion of this to take place in topic https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21741-subtitles-possibilities-beyond-211/
  13. Btw. A lot of talk about this is in the beginning of this topic.
  14. Does this guarantee that the same (maximum) amount of characters fit in that subtitle box at any time?
  15. Subtitle Edit ( https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit ) now has support for subtitle extraction via Whisper. See https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit/help#audio_to_text . This works well on Windows. In the extraction window you can download all the needed extra dependencies the first time you use it. After the generation of the srt files, you can use the editor to tweak the files, or move to a seperate editor of your choice (including texteditors). Aperantly it also works under Linux: https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit/help#linux If it doesn't, see info above to use the commandline in Linux. Kdenlive ( https://kdenlive.org ) now also has Whisper subtitle extraction build in. This works well in Windows, but I couldn't get it working in Linux. You have to go to Settings > Configure Kdenlive. Then go to section Speech to text. On top of the window you select option Whisper. Then you have to install some stuff by clicking on an install button (this doesn't work in Linux currently). The extraction via cpu is considered slow, but I thought it's not so bad using an 8th generation i3 processor during a test with a large speech file. You can afaik only do this one by one, so it's not as fast.
  16. Question: What are the requirements for adding subtitles to missions? It seems that the subtitles that are not included in the mission as an update are also never downloaded. You can see the number of downloads in the post. It could also be that nobody cares about subtitles, but maybe I shouldn't go that far. If subtitles are not tested by anyone but me and the mission author doesn't care or isn't around, can they still be included without them checking it out? I think it's an addition, not a modification. I guess I should ask for permission prior and if I don't get a satisfactory answer don't do it?
  17. Maybe something to consider for 2.13 dev.
  18. I make it a habit to derail topics (where most has been said already) in off-topic section, while I think it's bad to do that elsewhere.
  19. Yeah I played it. Makes the game a lot more playable. Thanks. I might boot it up sometime to see if it's still worth it. I find the Diablo 2 interface too outdated and I think the official Diablo II: Resurrected doesn't fix that. It seems some Diablo 2 mods implement DGengine: https://www.moddb.com/mods/dreamaker-mod I remember a glide wrapper also improved the graphics, but is probably not needed anymore with DGengine.
  20. So I thought this is normal TDM behaviour. But then I found it's not happening on Windows. Also, when I alt-tab to desktop, the mouse is still gone, keyboard navigation is possible. Why is this happening on mission load? What is the purpose?
