  1. First of, hello again Tdm forum. if you would like an explanation to why i have been gone for the last 3 years, i'd gladly take the discussion in a pm. Hopefully you have'nt missed me to much Now on to the matter at hand. I am close to completion at a map and suddenly theese errors appear, my english is to limited for me to explain in words, so i recorded a video showing of the first error. http://www.4shared.c...L/TDM_bug.html? it appears that everytime i look at this one specific area (visportals), all lights except ambient dissapear. The only changes made in this room (since it worked), is add monsterclip brush and changed values in a light source. second error is this TDM_bug.png: Offtopic im having problems setting up pathnodes, im trying to set up a dynamic path for a particular ai. So there is one path that he follows regularly and sometimes he strolls of on an optional path 25% chance. He completely ignores the optional path. Any map i could look into so i could get an idea of how this would work? the wiki on pathnodes does'nt clear things up for me. /thesnopp

  3. Yes, you are still viewing The Dark Mod Forums I've just finished the upgrade of our IPB Board Forums to the latest release. Packed with new features, rewritten code and all that. Have a look around. The skin is currently the default one, but will sooner or later be converted to a darker skin, to fit the Dark Mod universe. Also note that the forums have been moved from http://modetwo.net/darkmod to it's own sub-domain: http://forums.thedarkmod.com - all forum links will still work tho, thanks to Apache's rewrite-plugin. Please report any bugs, requests and comments in this thread. PS: The forums will run a bit slow the first hours as the cache is being rebuilt.

  8. Hi there taffers! I start this topic because I recently began to work on a mission and don't want to stuck every time I don't know how to do things. I would like to ask you a big favor. If I'm stuck with something, I tell you here and we together find the solutions to the difficulties. Here is the first one: I need a trigger or some kind of area effect which is able to sense the presense of different kind of entities like the player. When for example the player or a zombie is within this area, a light turns on, when he leaves it turns off. Just like in Thief 1 - The Lost City. The light fades on and off when Garrett arrives or leaves.
  9. wanted to start a thread esp for this problems... and the beginner is this one (this are my first steps in this area of mapping...so maybe it is very simple: i have two movers, both fly along a nurbs kurve...with this script: void movewisp1() [and a second one "movewisp2"...] { $mover_irrwisch1.time(49); $mover_irrwisch1.decelTime(1); $mover_irrwisch1.accelTime(1); $mover_irrwisch1.startSpline($path_irrwisch_1_1); sys.wait(49); } both should fly simultaneously, and this is the problem... if i throw this two things in this one: void main() { movewisp1(); movewisp2(); } first the "1" fly and after that the second one... i also tested to "call" both scripts with a trigger but with a trigger you can only call one script (right?). and to use one trigger to trigger 2 other trigger which "call" the one and the other is possible but unaesthetic for 10 movers... so, how can i handle this problem in an easy way?

  13. Looks like somebody added hardware eating components in TDM 1.04. I've tested some of the old missions. They're running slowly or crash. The main menu looks blurry, too. Display resolutions were TDM 1.04 @ 640x480 and TDM 1.04 @ 1280x720. It's running smoothly with TDM 1.03 @ 1024x768. System Configuration: AMD Athlon X2 2.8 GHz Dual-Core, 2 GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 3200, 22" (1920 x 1080), Win XP Pro with SP3. Any ideas how to solve this problem ?
  14. hi im new with dark mod. i played the thief games and i loved them. i bought doom 3 just to play the dark mod (didnt start doom 3 even once ) now i downloaded and installed everything so far and i got 2 problems though. first thing it seems i cant set my display resolution at max. whenever i choose 1920x1080 it looks still like 1024x768. even after restart and using admin setting. is there any other way to change the resolution as i wich, like a config file? second problem: my charakter seems always to walk to the right whenever i wanna walk straight. i walk with "W" but he always seems to walk not straight ahead but drifting to the side so i always need to correct with "a" yeah thats for all first would be glad if someone could help
  15. ladro_DoomConfig_diff.pdf Hello guys ;-) The problem: I'm trying to use the default DoomConfig.cfg, so i unistalled the last mission from the game, renamed the old DoomConfig.cfg, as posted in the Wiki. Relaunch the tdmlauncher.linux, and the game run with sounds, but with no menu, only the mouse arrow pointer, and all is dark, like he missed all the graphics stuff. If i re-use the old DoomConfig.cfg the game start normally. So i compared the 2 files, but i cannot understand *what* exactly do the magic. I would like to have DoomConfig.cfg from scratch beacuse i messed a lot with old one with personal settings, so i need a new one. Any suggestion ? Edit: I uploaded the diff between the old DoomConfig.cfg and the new one, in pdf. Edit2: Nevermind, I solved by deleting all the *.cfg in the root and updating more times with other repository The DoomConfig.cfg now works! I dislike installing in default places, or only being limited to the linux version (i use ubuntu), so i resolved to use some script and symbolic link magic - for the linux version, i made a symbolic link for the doom3 files and the darkmod files. This worked in doom3, but, of course, gave problems in the darkmod (the symbolic link resolves to the path as it would in windows ie: game/darkmod instead of game/doom3linux/darkmod So the launcher can't find the linux doom3 executable. Examining the output it seems one of the fallback methods is the argument given to the launcher, so i just gave the correct one in my script, and it started. However i am immediatly dumped to console. But this time it doesn't appear to my fault. There is a warning because the executable or game path contains "uppercase characters" and how that is "not portable". This is absolute bullshit to me, but whatever. However i'd like a portable installation, and i usually unzip my portable games to the Desktop (yes upper case), so if this warning could be silenced i think it would be good. Pressing 'ESC' skips enables the mod to start.
  18. [update] Spoke to Marcus @AMD UK on the phone and as it turns out a number of complaints have been made against "Spyre". My AMD forum account has been unbarred and my Ip address unblocked!!! Bought a new gfx card for xmas, been having issues with mainly the driver So I though a good place to look for support and polity vent etc - or so I thought My second post got flamed by some smart arse fanboy and then promptly locked, to which I reported the posted asking why it had been locked.. and then my account on there got deleted and my Ip blocked (untill the isp dhcp refreshed etc) so I cant login even with a different account name. I have emailed AMD directly about this as I did nothing wrong according the t&c's and I got no warning Pm or email from the forum mods. Now I've been over at the nVidia forums a long while back when I had the 8800GTX when I was equally frustrated when posting about the driver issue with thief etc, but at no point did a thread get locked or worse my account deleted. I don't have loyalty to AMD or nVidia but depending on the answer I get from AMD next week this card maybe going back and AMD will be added to the list of manufactures I will never buy anything from again. Hello I`ve just downloaded your mod, which has a very unique and cool style, i like it, but the problem is im messing around with the graphic settings for a few hours and the problem is TDM won`t change the settings, i can`t switch to window mode, can`t turn of music or change the resolution in the game or even when i restart, i`ve the same problems with doom3 too, i don`t know what im doing wrong, the mod itself works fine. Some details: OS Windows 7 Doom3 patched to v.1.3.1 TDM newest version Would be cool if someone could help

  23. I am trying to achive a very faint fog-over-water effect, but I can't seem to get it working. When I set the fog start just over the water surface, the terrain (which is underwater as well as sticking out to create islands) creates ugly jagged bright triangles where it clips into the fog: Changing the texture from "basic_fog" to something else doesn't seem to make a difference. The only "solution" seems to be to drag down the fog volume until it is below the deepest underwater terrain point. However, this also means the fog is underwater, making both the underwater look whitish from above, and also makes the view from underwater very foggy. That is not what I want. So I tried to make just local foglights that just cover the water area and do not cross into the terrain, but when viewed from outside, the fog edges are very white and visible, showing that the entire fog is just a "block". Ugh. So, does anybody have a solution for this or ideas? Maybe I need to create a few "layers" out of patches and texture them with a whitish additive blend texture? But they wouldn't look "3D", unless I bent them in creative ways?

But I don't have doom 3 installed on my computer yet so I just been downloading the mod in a make shift folder for the time being then planning to cut the files and paste them into where they are meant to go when I install doom 3. Will this work or do I have to download the files into the the doom 3 folder for it to work?
  25. Ok I'm at the library using up their bandwidth to download this mod. I am using tdm_updater to download the mod and so far only 4 out of 62 files have downloaded. I am getting a little hungry and I would like to get something to eat... Would I be able to close the download and resume it later on or would it start all over again? Don't suggest using bit torrent since it won't work in the library, thanks in advance!
