64 Bit Windows 7

Does the Dark Mod work with the 64 bit version of Win 7... The patched Doom 3 works beautifully. I just can't get TDM to work at all. I read on some post that 64 bit Linux needs some kind of 32 bit libraries. Where would I find those for Win7 ? Or what do I have to do?

I see a lot of new TDM missions these days... I wanna play too ;)

(Not on my machine, In Europé, but it works excellent )

Are there any error messages, or does it just crash? Can you run the tdm_updater on it?

I that patch 1.3.1 1304 ?

Or.. is that something to do with region specific issues?

@acolyte6:

Also, for pre-emptive reasons, is your video card and AMD\ATI brand?

If so, are Catalyst AI or "Surface Format Optimizations" disabled in your driver settings?

Nah, always had trouble with ATI back in the day with Thief. My desktop has nVidia and my new laptop (MSI-S6000) has an Intel HD graphics card.

Nope, that patch don't work either. When I run TDM Launcher as Administrator absolutely nothing happens. No crashes, no nothing :(

I ran the updater and the version is now 1.06, yet notta :(

Did you try installing newer graphic drivers for you Intel GPU?

What directory is darkmod installed to (full path)?

Have you tried disabling Anti-Virus software?

Have you tried disabling Aero?

What Service Pack of Win 7 is installed?

Mmm.

Try this:

When you have clicked on tdmlauncher, click it again. sisi.gif

p.s. if you have the rundll32 process after you click the first time, then this is sure the "cure". :D

Yes to Driver, latest installed.

Path = "D:\RealmsOfThief\DOOM 3\DarkMod\tdm_update_win\tdmlauncher.exe"

I have no antivirus, hate all of them! I know what goes in and out for the last 10 years :)

Aero? What is that? Nvr mind, found it. Now disabled

That's weird. Shouldn't tdmlauncher.exe be inside the Darkmod folder...what you posted looks like there is a separate tdm_update_win folder with the launcher inside it.

That's what I was thinking, but all the files are in the win_update folder. That folder and fms are in the DarkMod folder. Nothing else. Should I move all the other files to the DarkMod folder? Since I'm not home I can't check to see how the desktop folders are set up so I have nothing to compare with :(

Thanks Bikerdude :wub: ya!! LoL

Got the Training mission to work, now I'm gonna try some new smaller FM's to see if they will run. I also changed the resolution to 1366 x 780 (the laptop's default). That may have helped.

      Hey @nbohr1morehow come the zombies in The Dark Mod don't have a "resurrection" mechanic to it, similar to how Thief has it?
      They're quite a weak creature as of right now, it's merely a walking corpse that slashes you, making attacking them to kill them an actual strategy.
      Would be better if they had some cool mechanism to it that truly makes them a danger, such as the resurrection idea itself.

      Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.

      Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

      I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

      briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
      What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
      I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.
