Lock Picking Bug?

Well, I decided to give Fuchards another run tonight.

 

Earlier today I realized I had not even updated to 1.07. Still using 1.06. 80

 

Anyway, so I'm up to date. I did instal the starter map again today to check out water.

So I'm playing Fuchard's and I climb into top room, go to pick the cabinet in the architectures room. Neither pick works, OK, gotta find a key...

Try to pick same style cabinet in Fuchard's room. Picks don't work. Find chest, picks don't work.

Melan, you are EVIL, where's are thye damn keys... lol

 

So I look at the thread, and there's no clue but a vid. Which someone picks that first table with the snake pick. OK, so I'll try again.

 

When I pick, they don't light up red or green, they just say click NO.

 

I've tried to keep my game install as clean as possible, and I've never messed with the picks in any weird way. Modding them OR for a map.

 

Re update and TDM says it's up to date.

 

What am I missing?

The only thing that comes to mind is that lockpicks have a different distance to frob so you need to move closer. I can't remember off-hand what happens to the highlight. And of course, its the use key not frob. Sorry to be stating the obvious but just in case - I've done it myself occasionally. I can't think what else could affect this unless there really is a bug in the map that was introduced later.

Well, OK. I admit I haven't played for awhile.

 

Using the Use key does work, but that seems really foriegn to me, I'm sure I used to use the mouse button. Did something change in the last update or two?

 

Also, there is no menu button choice for that, should there be?

      The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
