some mirrors are just slow. the workaroudn is to first let tdm_update update itself thus downloading the initial files just before it makes you start the 2GB download

 

after that exit, open (better with notepad++ so you get a proper newline) tdm_mirrors.txt and comment out the slow mirrors. In my case it was:

 

#[Mirror fidcal.com]
#url = [url="http://www.fidcal.com/darkuser/"]http://www.fidcal.com/darkuser/[/url]
#weight = 6

 

after that start the tdm updater again but this time select the "Dont search for new mirrors from thedarkmod.com (--keep-mirrors)" option so the tdm_mirrors.txt wont get overwritten

 

I've got decent 500-900 kbps from the other mirrors that way. :)

Why cant tdm guys just upload zip file with 2.0?

I'm currently uploading a zip archive of my darkmod game directory, freshly downloaded, to google drive. Should get lots of good speed from that. Almost done uploading, about another hour or two.

It's currently at 82%, and it's been going for the last 6 hours, ugh, 80 KB/s upload rate at my house. I was going to do it at work where I have 100 mbit uplink, but ran out of time.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Thanks for doing that torrent Eldorel, the issue with the PB though is its blocked at browser level by a lot of ISP's. Can I be cheeky and ask you to seed it to some other trackers as well..?

The torrent isn't actually being tracked via TPB, i'm just hosting the .torrent file there.

 

I've got it tracked through peer exchange, DHT, openbittorrent.com, and publicbt.com. If you can suggest anywhere else, I can add them.

 

I can also send you a copy of the .torrent file directly if you want to post it here.

I am now seeding at 2.5 Mb/s - considering i'm supposed to be able to upload at 15Mb/s i'm not impressed.......and so far I've uploaded 16Gb.

You crazy Taffers have pulled over 60+ GB from me the hour I have been seeding.

 

I'll keep seeding for a few weeks until things are more stable with your site and downloads / updater.

You uploaded 60GB? In an hour?? I've been seeding 11hrs and only uploaded 3.25GB so far. :P (Still, that's one-and-a-third taffers supplied.)

Heh. That torrent has been keeping both of my offices 20Mb/s connections capped out for 24 hours straight.

 

I've pushed over 400GB at this point.

 

Still jealous of HaVoK's upload speed though....

Yup, the updater/installer is finally happy and people are able to get it from the usual (and hopefully quick) servers. That said, we did a pretty great job seeding before then, well done to all those who helped! :)

      I'm back! Happy new years, TDM folks!
      I brought with me a quick update for my first FM that fixes up a lot of small issues that didn't get caught in beta testing. I didn't exactly expect it to take me nearly 9 months to release a patch, but it's been a wild year to say the least. Teaching, finishing up my Master's of Education, and all manner of other events forced me to drop out of the anniversary FM contest and ate up all my time, but I'm back again in a comfortable position to start catching up on all the new FMs. I may even start work on another spooky project of greater length and difficulty in the coming year.
