sup ppl! o took the liberty to give it a try.. more as a test firts. since normal maps on max simply wasnt working, i've figured that zbrush could be an interesting aproach, since you model and automatically becomes a normal map :D

i'm gonna need to rebuild everything, (zbrush strangely messed up with the arm) but thats ok, i was more interested in developing some techniques and learn the software.. flow

btw, anyone knows something about mirrored textures? or knows where to read? some cases, like the burricks, mirrored textures are a better solution.

One of the things we discussed about the original concept art was that the legs needed an extra joint if the thing was going to be able to walk.

I'm pretty much aware of what has been done in the AI category...Diego said this was just for practice though.

Although Diego, if you're looking to develop some new skills, skinning would be a good one to add to the list. I'd love to see your thug model with a texture so we could get him in-game.

i'm pretty happy with modeling, the major problem is.. model to the darkmod lol

what i mean is no matter how many models i make, I just cant make normal maps for them... (that works ingame) all models are here, sitting =P I wasted to much time trying to make normal maps and bring them ingame, so i'll just keep modeling, if anyone wants to take them and do it, great :D i'll spend my time better by modeling only.

wich brings me to zbrush! :D was an oportunity to solve those problems and make it independant of others to actually finish a model directly into the game

The problem is, we don't have a lack of modelers, we have a lack of skinners. So if you create just more models without a skin, that doesn't help us at all, because we already have a huge backlog of unskinned models, and adding to that list, will not bring us one step further in the mod.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Trying to be productive on my down-time before Capcom releases Akuma and my son is constantly on my PC playing Street Fighter...

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )
