I disagree, saying it is removal. A person having it suppressed for over 30 years will have it removed. Most people will. People born when no 'bad' opinions are expressed around them their whole lives and no 'bad' information is available on which to form opinion won't have an opinion. People tend to take any current situation as natural and when information of how it was 'before' or how it is 'across the border' is suppressed they don't know any better.

Granted that, but why are you using USSR as an example? There was always enough western influence on that nation to keep ideas in the people's heads no matter how minute or "removed". Otherwise what happened in 1991 exactly?

Well, Canada, Australia, and the UK are practically US states anyway... or at least, their respective leaders want them to be. Free trade for all! (as long as it's one-way)

I have only this to say; Fuck the USA!!

I'm Canadian and damn proud of it. I will never accept US control of this country, although I'm not sure that there is a lot I could do :(

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Ironically the majority of us just want everyone out, but the government turns a deaf ear.

Yes they should abandon the country to civil war (which is happening anyways). But then the world will criticize the US for pulling out.

Hey, right back at ya! <_< Thanks for making the point and lumping every American resident together. I could counter with "Fuck Canada!" but that would stupidly be including several fine persons from this board. So I won't do that, ya see. Because that would be stupid.

I've never understood why people are "proud" of where they're born. It's not like they had any say in it, nor are they the functioning leaders.

hmm, why are people proud of where they're born....? It seems only recently that we had revolutionary and patriotic ideas floating around in western countries, and napoleon ruled. This is a painting from my upcoming fm, the painting is called 'alma parens'. http://fatalbits.com/pictures/a70d6ea126.jpg

edit: corrected the url. In the preview of the post it worked correctly, in the post after seeing the "doesn't work" comment, by some unlikely error, it cut off the 'bi' 2 characters from both the name and the link.

I'm talking about the country and it's leadership, not the citizens. Of course not all of them are bad, just like here we have a lot of idiots too. Sorry I wasn't clearer on the subject.

You could say "Fuck Canada!" for the same reasons Haste pointed out, the leadership not the citizens.

Yesterday federal parlaiment recently passed their Environment Act, which is a complete made-in-Bush's-USA joke. One of the standing MP got ousted and left over it and is considering joining the Green party.

A lot of us Canadians are politically frustrated with our options. From the highly corrupt Liberals, the Bushite Conservatives, self-absorbed seperatists, and the infant Green party, there's not much to happily vote for.

Us Aussies could say the same...

You've got the "Liberals" (who are actually conservative) running the country (badly). The only major opponent is the bumbling Labor party, which despite numerous chances has managed to shoot themselves in the foot repeatedly for the last 3 elections. They appear to be utterly incompetent (whether or not that's actually true, that's the popular perception).

The Democrats used to be a bright spark, but they committed suicide a while back and are no longer a serious player, however much they'd like to think they are.

The only decent political party we have is the Greens, and while their vote is increasing the most they can hope for in an election at the moment is to gain the balance of power.

The One Nation Party was racist to the core, but actually managed to get a significant chunk of the vote in Queensland at one time. Thankfully they're pretty much dead now.

The Family First party is exactly what it sounds - a far-right party whose policies are designed to oppress everyone who doesn't fit into their definition of "family" (white, heterosexual, Christian, two children).

So on the whole, not a lot of options...

The one good thing about the political landscape in Australia is our voting system.

I guess the same could be said for most "traditional" "democractic" countries. In Europe you have a simialr effect. Voting activity drops, and the parties get as small percentages as never before. In Austria it currently happens that voting doesn't mean anymore that the party wins that gets the most votes. Instead the party wins that looses the least amount of votes, because almost all of the are loosing, and the ones that are winning are insignificant.

Well, voting is compulsory in Australia, and the two major parties (Liberal and Labor) do tend to get most of the vote. It just amazes me that people keep voting for them... well, actually it doesn't. <_<

From the highly corrupt Liberals

Someone's been listening to Harper a little too much. I love it that he kept going on about it, and then the report came out saying that there was nothing wrong with the current government yet Harper kept saying the "Martin's Liberals" are corrupt.

I hate politics

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
