  1. Thanks for building this package. It would be nice if you can publisch this package to one of the main gentoo repo's if any. Like people did with TDM packages for opensuse and archlinux. To update your packages, where needed, take a look at: Manual installation instructions on the wiki Alberto Salvia Novella -  Linux system wide installer
  2. ok. And what if an automatically chosen mirror, is up but doesnt work good/fast?
  3. Nice work, works great. What I only miss (for now) are some visual things, like: The slashes inside the file-path (and folder selection). In windows they need to be displayed like backslashes, not forward slashes. a method to select other tdm-mirrors. (where is tdm_mirrors.txt?) Textlabels next to the progressbars, during the download. (see example above) (And thanks for adding the additional progressbars) Unhide the empty progressbars, when they have nothing to do. (so the user can see and knows there are some steps are coming) an "100% - Done" textlabel inside the progressbars, when they are done. A final-status progress bar.
  4. > move topic to TDM tech support forum.
  5. How about enabling "vsync" in TDM's video settings? (source)
  6. I love the idea to link files and i know this works great with TDM.. I PM'ed stgatilov suggested this some months ago ====== Freyk - April 10: About that recurring TDM folder permissions problem. And following the Certification requirements for windows apps What you think about placing some data folders and files outside the tdm folder and add locationspath's in the config file? for example, following os standards for windows: the fm folder and darkmod.cfg inside windows appdata folder. For linux: fm folder and darkmod.cfg in hidden folder inside users home folder /home/user/.tdm/ ---------- stgatilov It is all great and cool with standards, but the current layout has major benefits. It can be installed without admin rights. It can be moved or copied and will continue to work (portability). It is much simpler conceptually (one dir = whole game, no googling for where this bastard stores saves). It already works and has worked for ages. So I will be strongly against dropping it. Recently Cabalistic looked into the question of paths and how to support saves/FMs in separate directory. As far as I remember, he concluded that it is hard. And you know, Cabalistic is a very capable developer that we are lucky to have with us. Moreover, maintaining both approaches would be a huge pain both for us and for users (because one of the paths --- and I know which --- will get broken regularly). I guess path system was changed somewhere around TDM 2.00 last time, and I recall still fixing issues with it for 2.06. I hope this gives you the scope of problems which usually arise from changing path conventions. So speaking of TDM, those standards can go to hell, and I don't care. By the way, I guess I already said that most games are installed with steam, which also does not care about Program Files. Aside from that, I plan a few changes to tdm_updater for the next beta. The most important one is to display warning on start if user has admin rights (more precisely, if the process integrity level is high or above), encouraging the user to restart it as normal user. Also some better handling of file writing error in a few places. The error messages would suggest installing TDM somewhere where user can normally create files, e.g. C:\games\TheDarkMod, and explicitly discourage from Program Files. I hope this would help to shift players into the right mindset. ============
  7. nice to have. Next to the old and new tdm installer, repo packages, etc. i have not read your code yet. Does this installer follow the installation instructions from wiki article: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Installer_and_Manual_Installation
  8. how about checking if you have all the needed files for TDM, by running the updater. are there any messages about this in the tdm console? i can vaguely remember that i have read a D3 topic about this, that is has something to do with a videocard driver.
  9. please set your folder permissions. for more information, the techsupport forum and read wiki article: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Installer_and_Manual_Installation and see also your own topic:
  10. i believe that we can recreate it. And i have seen missions like it. the cradle is, is to me, for a new player, a combination of a unknown mission, the building, assests and a great looping background "music". To me, T3 has other missions like it. The second mission of thief 1 has the same things.
  11. I say option 2. In my experiences with the TDM mirrors, the some mirrors are slow and some disconnects the download session. (dont know which ones) At the user side, you can restart the updater to use another mirror or comment out mirrors you dont want to use, by editing file tdm_mirrors.txt. Or you download the files from another location, like nbohr1more mentioned.
  12. I Imagined the combination of the environment in this phobos episode 1 walktrough video from 4:17 to end, with TDM mechaniscs. And instead of the humans > knights and zombies.
  13. i followed the status of this missionpack, to use this for my cyberpunk mod.
  14. i love those translations. it can also be used with songs. see several of these type of songs in jimmy fallons shows:
  15. Or upload the sourcefile to us?

  17. thats venture. https://www.moddb.com/mods/venture garret in d3
  18. has anyone tested the following as a workaround: a wired ps4 controller using steam (in bigpicture mode) and tdm 2.07 as non steamgame? in this mode you can select/create a profile for the controller. -edit- changed version to 2.07. There are currently visual problems using 2.08 and steam overlay. See more info about this in topic:

  21. i agree with the mentioned games above. Also how about, assassins creed- & watch dogs series. And a bit of shadow of mordor and outcast second contact.
  22. See those ducks in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGQh1fl8zGg (tip: disable your sound for some minutes, because there are people who dont like this type of music) (tip: enable subtitles)
  23. If this to fill in your free time, why not. Others created concept art, 3d printed things, etc. I tried to make a DVD. (front-cover, back-cover)
  24. the commands getviewpos (and condump) and setviewpos works perfectly, for Damjan. So people can now give Damjan their favourite places. For example, one of them is just the start of the trainingsmap, position "333.11 -1872.76 220.25 4.9 88.0 0.0" onliner: .\TheDarkModx64.exe +map training_mission.map +setviewpos 333.11 -1872.76 220.25 4.9 88.0 0.0 it would be nice to automate this by giving someone a startup onliner, like above. But the take doesnt take the setviewpos command.
  25. I took a look at installer, build 28th july Window size is still to big and please add a winforms switch-feature for windows version. (Linux users are used to it to see large windows) I Dont like the filebrowser now, because i miss buttons to navigate and to create a new folder. (after closing the filebrowser, the "restart" button gives an error and the "next" button grays out) Maybe temporarily hide the advanced settings menu. Show these settings only when checkbox is checked. And hide, when its unchecked. Hide the version selector, after when the custom version is not ticked. Because If i click on the "next"-button on the startscreen (without ticking custom version), i see the version selector. If i was a beginner, i should be confused ("because there are more versions?") As i mentioned earlier, as a beginner, i would be afraid, when i see "removed size". (show these sizes, only when updating or change version) Thanks for adding more progressbars. But i miss a total progress bar. I would design the download-window something like this: (see also attached winforms sketch) === The darkmod <version> is being installed right now. This download procedure consists of the following steps: Total bar: <total bar> --- Step 1: downloading files: <download progress bar> Step 2: verify: <verify progress bar> Step 3: repacking files: <verify progress bar> Step 4: finalisation of files: <finalize progress bar> --- Status log <textbox with logging> <save log button> Finished successfully <button delete darkmod.cfg> <button create shortcut in startmenu> <button create shortcut in desktop> <close button> ===== (or just less: During download, only total progressbar and status log textbox)
