  1. I thought about doing a poll. But... i couldn't nearly cover all games people could consider their favorite game of all times. Dishonored was great too.
  2. Just thought i'd start one of those fancy survey thingie. Mine would be Deus Ex, for sure. Never played anything like it anymore. Really pretty perfect in all regards. Followed by Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition with all addons, System Shock 2, and the Thief's. Also, every GTA part since part 3 has been pretty great.
  3. Thanks nbohr1more, that fixed the underwater issue.
  4. Hmm... so, if i get it right, i can use any of the workarounds listed? Also, where and how do i "set r_useFBO 1"?
  5. I had it on 8x first, but, i lowered it to 4x. Or, do you mean in the Nvidia driver settings?
  6. Just updated with the tdm_updater. The update worked fine. I started the Training Mission then, and activated soft shadows, and the multicore option, but then realized that the soft shadows have quite a severe performance impact. I tried to lower some settings then, anti-aliasing level and anisotropy, which led to a white screen, when i went back in the mission. I restarted TDM then, and reloaded the quicksave i made with the white screen, but, the white screen didn't show up again. Instead, i had a weird bug when i took a dive: If it is not apparent: The screen somehow got divided in 4 parts, when i went under water. When i emerged again, the picture was fine again, but, every time i went under water, it divided the screen into 4 parts again, with one part in the lower left showing the actual game picture, while the others seemed to show fragments of the screen before i went under water. Also, the multicore option didn't seem to have an effect here, or, at least not apparently. I didn't think soft shadows were so CPU taxing, a bit disappointed that it really cuts into the framerate here. I don't have the newest computer, i posted the specs here: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/9970-post-your-system-configuration-here/?p=342668 Still thought it'd be good enough to run with soft shadows.
  7. Wow, that looks great indeed.
  8. That reminds me of the TDS mission with the Abysmal Gale. Nice.
  9. Yeah, the pictures are a bit small, even on the site which opens. What's the difference between the current shadows and soft shadows? Higher resolution, and smoother edges on soft shadows? Looks quite smoother on the pics, but, can't compare to how it is now.
  10. And people claim that there are so many more bugs in games nowadays.
  11. Not exactly medieval, but... i had an idea for a bank mission some time ago, and spotted a suiting building in a Columbo movie, which i have taken screenshots of: Just thought that'd be a very cool and fitting building.
  12. GTA Online felt like a MMORPG to me (yep, including those always repeating tasks), and, i really hate those. Loved the single player though.
  13. It's an audience thing, i guess. Typical nowadays players get bored when they have to search 10 seconds for something. I guess that's why games like Assassins Creed are so popular. It almost plays itself.
  14. Thanks. Believe it or not, i never played Unreal. It's not available on Steam somehow, in Germany, so, i had to grab it from GOG.
  15. Nice nice. Actually, i think both the city hub, and the contracts add a LOT to the mission. If Looking Glass Studio still existed, and they'd make a Thief now, i would really hope they make it semi-open world (city hub), and add a lot of side quests/contracts. I'm actually sure they would do, it's something which has become popular in games (one of the good things about games nowadays).
  16. Alright, makes sense.
  17. Do you mean this one? http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/19241-i-made-a-darkmod-gamepad-layout-for-xpadder/?hl=gamepad
  18. Just thought i'd mention that i actually like it when guards notice missing loot. It's just that that particular guard which patrolled 3 floors was quite a menace, because he was alerted almost throughout the whole mission. BTW, this is amazing for a speed build. Doesn't feel like it at all.
  19. I always imagined everything in the TDM universe would be pretty unique, not resembling anything in the real world.
  20. Just finished this mission. I really liked it. Good, classic mansion mission.
  21. Ok, as the context is to show off your skill in the break in, i do get the objective in this mission, specifically. Normally, i find it an artificial restriction, which prevents players from playing the way they wish to play.
  22. I just finished this mission. Was fun to play. So, gameplay wise, there were a few flaws for me. I enjoyed the rest of the mission though, it was really well done.
  23. I don't care much about the technical side of TDM. The missions look gorgeous, with the lighting, and the tech which is possible with the ID tech engine. In general, i believe that, nowadays, people bother too much with the visuals. For me, it's definitely the content, and atmosphere which makes a good game, not the great graphics, or bombastic sound fx. E.g., some weeks ago, i played through Thief Gold and Thief 2, and they're still in a class of their own, in terms of gameplay. The graphics are functional. Nowadays, you often get confused about what you can operate and what you can't, in the game world, because there's so many details that you need a magical vision, to show the objects you can interact with… i found earlier games to be much more "streamlined", and to the point in that regard. Shiny is not always positive.
  24. Yep. I set up Steam Link on my Samsung Smart TV (all it needs is a free app for your TV), and played a couple of Steam, and non-Steam games. Works fine. TDM won't work with a gamepad though? Think i'll give it a try later.
  25. You rated Bus Simulator higher than The Dark Mod?
