    Thief 4

Yeah... there is always a strong possibility of that. But (you know me) I am ever an optimist -- sweet, smiling, sanguine...

    Thief 4

This might be a good sign in that there is to be a lot of DLC? ...which might translate to a very workable editor...
  3. TDM is superior to T2 in every way. It is not like Rugby and Football. There are only more mappers working in that broken-down old gem... who would be making much better, more playable, more beautiful, more exciting things if they would move on up. It is commendable to praise the work of those still working in the old system, but it does not translate, really, that there is anything but lost opportunity in continuing to mess with that old system. The praise is nice, but the only encouragement these people should be getting is to come work in DR. ... ETA: Oh and Fidcal, I too can say you've got nothing to balk at. Rather your desire to become even better is only a good thing. I'd hope you'd just enjoy the campaign, soak up the fun and play. Soak up the other stuff too -- the mission building notices, but do it without an iota of anxiety. ...And for Pete's (Pete=me and the rest of us waiting for your next) sake... don't revise all you've got into the current WIP! Apply the new inspirations & gleamings going forward, yes, surely... but I implore, I beg, I beseech, I am being hyperbolic! and I am slightly tongue-in-cheek with a subtext of seriousness... please do not get caught in an eddy of revisementationness!

  5. Oh, well... I thought I was having an easy time of it. I just thought that first door was locked (or otherwise blocked); maybe I'll go back and take a look in there...
  6. I don't know but that's a great looking chest. Errrr... nice rack? No. But seriously, I like it; I meant that first bit... and then just got childish. (I gotta stop looking around even more, I'm trying to cut back on threads like this because I'd rather come across these things in-game!)
  7. !? That's a bit like asking "when did you stop beating your wife?" I thought you were kidding when I read that... are you not? How in the hell did I/we/they miss the fact that Catalyst is running?
  8. I'm ruined for the nifticity of this game by TDM. Okay, the manipulation of the doors was cool, but bet that can be managed in TDM (Fidcal or one of the other DRists is already at work, I'll betcha). I want to mantle and lean forward and hunkerdown and move quickly at the same time and... pull out my bow. ... Also I'm just about completely tired of horror-this survival-that. Meaning I am actually way beyond completely tired of it (sick of it) as I never much liked it to begin with but only enjoyed a few of the better ones anyway... Plus? As was just mentioned? I am not about to start embracing and even kindling the light.
  9. A torrent would... After running a fast but complete hash check... On each discreet chunk... Of... The whole file set... All with a client... That's portable... Infinitely more versatile... Pretty... And only 1/25th the size of... tdm_update...

  11. Consider me having colored you unsurprised; suitably jaded; appropriately cynical; highly, yet not overly, skeptical; positively negative; and shall we just say... less than enthusiastic.
  12. Nuh-uh... this is not over. No way. WTF is with that table? Please attach (here, not on mediafire, cuz those links are already dead...) a copy of the room with that table still in... Thanks. ETA: Forget it; I see there is another thread now wherein texture culprits and such suches are being narrowed down. I shall follow along there...
  13. Really fucked that one up. 3 was meant to be Chrissie... I am despondent.
  14. Fidcal, always with the nice solutions that make a difference from more than one angle.
  15. Yeah, like when Jesus comes back and everything goes sunshine-y and goodfolk get to curl up at his feet... purrs and happy sighs, frolics and frisbee-golf, circus-peanuts for breakfast, hazard-proof sparklers, cartwheels and caterpillars... Then, after a few hours or days or millennia, what?
  16. If you personally don't care, I certainly don't either. So, carry on. I am pleased however that you vote to "let" me make a shot... Carry on.
  17. Also continue to use the "v" argument/parameter/switch/option/flag for verbosity... ETA: And also also... First thing you should type in the console is... This will create a running console dump in darkmod called qconsole.log...
  18. And who'd be the ones with the problem there?
  19. You'd need to create a new torrent, yes. Which, btw, would absolutely reduce the chance that anyone confused it with the older version. All the rest of your worries and BANGS! are not anything you'd not have to do with more trouble by not using torrents. Certainly you realize this? Do you think if you create a new revision of any mission it'll magically distribute itself to the users? Using torrents, every user who downloads it becomes a potential (and while downloading a DEFACTO) server for that file. It's got a built in hashing system so all copies however so named are not to be confused, ever. Your torrent listing can explain exactly what the content is and can be listed in any forum as easy and as elaborately as any posting... I know it's a little bit like (I said this somewhere else recently, maybe here about this?) a pothead thinking just about everyone smokes pot... but really torrents are a HUGE part of the internet. Millions of people use them... and not just occasionally either.
  20. That is almost certainly what causes it. Now to find out what this "SysQueue" is; and why the "Events" are stacked so high... I'll see if I can find reference in the sourcecode. Maybe a Google or two if that doesn't work... ETA: Well, I'm having fun, but who knows if I'm anywhere near the source of the source?? I'm off in game_network.cpp... Looking at things like: /* ================ idGameLocal::SaveEntityNetworkEvent ================ */ void idGameLocal::SaveEntityNetworkEvent( const idEntity *ent, int eventId, const idBitMsg *msg ) { entityNetEvent_t *event; event = savedEventQueue.Alloc(); event->spawnId = GetSpawnId( ent ); event->event = eventId; event->time = time; if ( msg ) { event->paramsSize = msg->GetSize(); memcpy( event->paramsBuf, msg->GetData(), msg->GetSize() ); } else { event->paramsSize = 0; } savedEventQueue.Enqueue( event, idEventQueue::OUTOFORDER_IGNORE ); } So, yeah... I've gone off on a tangent. Quite.
  21. Oh, I guess it wasn't clear. Those are arguments you can put on the dmap command line. I just thought that the verbose ones would be helpful and then maybe the others... eg the No T Junctions since that is where your screenshot appears to show the crash occurs?
  22. Sure. I too abhor the very idea of not being able to input manipulations without having actual numerical control. The fact that you built a whole mission with only the graphical manips is impressive. Me, I can't even begin to begin, but I'd certainly never have had the fortitude to do that! I think there was something pretty ~fundemental~ Biker (it might have been someone else) said he'd only learned after all of his great work too... I put it down to Biker because I think I was so impressed hearing this was after his Cathedral reworking! I obviously don't recall exactly but these are the kinds of efforts that are both inspiring and daunting.
  23. No problem at all. Takes but a moment. If you are looking to argue, I won't. I've told you specifically about openbittorrent and publicbt. The where to upload the torrent "thing" is also something I know you know better about... the torrents themselves are small little files that will attach anywhere; they are attached to thousands of posts in hundreds of forums every day... I know that torrents are a great way for a community to distribute files without having to worry about mixed up mirrors, improper hashes, web-based blocks, giant clients. You asked me to create a torrent for all the FMs and then proceeded to continue to play about how useless it would be. There is something seriously wrong with the distribution of the FMs and TDM itself. And people are looking for repositories and shifting files from one upload site to another around here. IF everyone downloaded utorrent a tiny, portable client/server; if this technology, which is HUGELY dominant across the internet, was adopted by this community it would benefit this community. And the best thing about it is that it only relies on the community -- not schemingfilehost.com or takelookatthisadfirst.net or tellusaboutyourself.org.
