  1. Well, I did some messing about. I slaughtered my way back into the room I mentioned above... It appears that this all has to do with manipulating objects. Let's say there is a lamp (or candle, but the lamp is easier as it doesn't need an external flame to re-light -- so a lamp)... 1. Pick it up (frob). 2. Turn it on (use). 3. Turn it off (use)... fail! (sound like that of failing to drop a body...) 4. Manipulate it away from you (roll mouse wheel, in effect extending your arm, the arm that hold the lamp). 5. Try again to turn it off (use). The lamp 'centers' itself from all of your manipulation... aha... pulling back in to medium distance... still failing to turn off. 6. Try again to turn it off (use)... success! 7. Repeat steps 3-6 only with the point being to turn the lamp back 'on' in this instance rather than 'off'. 8. LatherRinseRepeat steps 3-6 for consistency (to demonstrate a consistent pattern). So, there it is if anyone wants a clearer picture of this semi-buggy behavior. If not, then that's that and I'm glad BikerDude brought up the sound thing.
  2. Well, I did experience... I think that relates to the aas thing, right? I'm XPx86. I'll figure out how to turn on the console pre-load and then load it up and look for the aas thing... brb...
  3. Not sure if this is new to 1.01 or not but I hadn't come across it before (either because I never did it this way before or didn't remember to 'notice')... Anyway, something that happened twice in the new mission, "Builders Influence" (the only mission I've really played under 1.01 {I did do a quick run-thru of "Living Expenses" as a test of the update}), is that when I extinguished and then re-lit a candle I was unable to put it out again until I put it down and then picked it back up... not a big deal under the circumstances I was in but might be some day. Who knows? I honestly and absolutely do mean that this isn't a big deal and, hell it may be by design, but I thought I'd mention it as it might be a hint as to the solution to some other glitch.
  4. This is pure evil. AND Are you kidding me that this is nothing to do with Fidcal's upcoming goodness!? I have this AND that to look forward to? Wow... Pure Golgothan, Evil, Barchettaian, Colorized, Young-Turkish Sweetness! While I too would welcome a (further) beautification (those towers, I will be checking them and the rest out further just moments from now), I'm glad you are going to stay focused on getting these primary elements taken care of and 'published'... it looks awesome, it sounds awesome and I hope to play it soon...
  5. Gorgeous! Especially so, I would think, if you can get some un-oxidized copper blended about.
  6. I shall wipe that place out... with ~discriminance~
  7. Yeah it has been an hour... And after all, you've "been trying to solve this problem on my own forever now" I wonder though, how you've been trying to solve this forever and yet "I have never even owned Doom 3 before today." Also? I wonder if the "%20DOOM%203%20%28Extract%20and%20Play&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a"]...Downloads\[PC Game] DOOM 3 (Extract and Play)..." part of your messages has a hint as to why things are going awry?
  8. There should be a huge flashing neon sign at the top of any and all TDM help forums, faqs, wikis, groups, websites, irc channels... Saying: Catalyst AI? Off ETA:This editor keeps adding spaces... and reverting font choices after I change them... and generally irritating the eff out me. Which maybe I deserve for utilizing the irritating feature of bold, loud, colored, oversized fonts anyway...
  9. ...anticipation* overwhelms again... Weren't there meant to be a couple or a few missions ready to go and just waiting on the release of TDM 1.01? ;)If I can get my hands on them I can report back on how well the upgrade went and goes;) *may indeed prove to be anxious imaginings
  10. Well... I say... it's well beyond well worth it.
  11. I wish they'd give us some assurance that they are going to pay attention to what is important to us the players that being the core aspects of the original games because the core of the game is where you'll find what matters most for those of us who loved the game at its core where the essential and integral thing was the thing that defined the game that being its core aspects, down in the core, where the core is and all the aspects that lie at the core of the game don't necessarily, say, 'rise to the surface' (being of cores... er of course, core aspects) but are still at the very core of what matters... I just think it'd be agood idea if they could hit upon these core issues about respecting and retaining the core aspects when they speak to us about what to expect as far as the anxiety many of us may have about them possibly not paying attention to what was it that made, at the heart or some may say "core" of the originals, so damned great. I know I'd feel better. Is the game that far along that they'd be able to do this? I really don't know but I didn't think so. I thought they were a ways off, which means a long ways off... I like the trailer because it gives me some idea what the plot may be; and while I cannot be sure, I do see that the political message may be one I won't be sickened by. I'll still be surprised if I'm not eventually sickened by it, but from just the bits and pieces there? I indeed could be pleasantly surprised!
  12. 'Tis Here! Thanks and Congrats!
  13. I'm sorry I thought this indicated some sort of something to that effect: They do look excellent. Really excellent. And I am very glad that they are up coming! ::The Ums Ups, Miley:: ... PS (actually: 'pssst') Are there perhaps any proto-shots of scanning-monitor-cam type things as well?
  14. Baddcog, I hope what you've said can be reflected on. It reminds me of the discussion on creating a "backstory" for TDM. There is a thread somewhere here about this idea. I said there that it wasn't a bad idea as far as it goes, but that it wasn't something I figured anyone should expect to be considered the laying of a foundation (or to use the currently trendy phrase "canon building")... TDM, from what the creators themselves have stated, and from what I happily hope and perceive it to be, is a platform for creation. A platform for the creation and realization of, praise be the builders, many ideas. The lantern bots above look great to me and I would feel it a shame to not have them developed because there is some ultimately futile politicking or applied orthodoxyficationismisticalness going on somewhere. Bring me them bots!
  15. Impressive as always. I keep experiencing impatience; but I also try and keep from voicing it because it's pretty clear that great things are being done behind the scenes... ...* *reserving and retaining the right to continue to be voiciferously(?), anticipatorially(?) impatient from time to time.
  16. While these kind of things are being discussed... If y'all are going to maybe tweak the forums a bit, can you make the icon to jump-to-first-unread-post a little larger? And put the link pathway thing (eg. The Dark Mod Forums > Public Forums > Off-Topic) at the bottom of each page too? Thanks
  17. Well... "~Acrobatic fight scenes and tight sexy leather outfits~" are okay by me, if I'm going to be watching a vampire flick, but I get your point if you are an aficionado of the sub-genre. But to join you in complaining about particulars... as for me, what I hate about sci-fi is that it is usually the most unscientific stuff you're likely to find. It's kind of walks hand-in-hand with the way a lot of backward-"thinking" new-age/drop-out/hedonistic/anarchist muppets seem to have convinced themselves (and others) that they are leftists. No. Yer Not. [/stepping down from soapbox] PS. Requiem was unenjoyable, pointedly pointless, and just exhaustively overwrought, IMNHO. PPS. Thanks for the recommend on Let The RightOne In; I'll give it a go if I can find it.
  18. There's a "trick" that may help you solve both of those problems. It's actually a nice new feature: You can either drag the bodies of the slain or "shoulder" them (pick them up as in Thief, for faster and more manageable moving). You first grab them - which by the way is how you would simply nudge or drag them about - by pressing your "frob" key when they are frobbable; then once you have them like this (they will generally shake a bit) you then press your "use" key. This will pick them up completely, or "shoulder" them. Then you can move them about long distances quicker and/or drop them to effectively check their bodies for keys and loot bags and such -- every time you drop them and then pick them back up and drop them again they "flip" over.... Hope that helps. As I say, I think it is the "key" to both of your problems.
  19. Again, I come late to the voting as I'm late to the playing. But I liked it and even did it on expert with the (progressively more and more) dreaded (for me no knockout, no kill, "ghost it") stipulations; occasionally I can give all that a go, and this was one of those occasions where I was in the mood and trusted that a short mission would suit the occasion. Had some actual full-on freeze-ups in this one... For the first time in TDM: Twice this happened, there, doing that. Had to alt-tab and then kill DOOM3.
  20. No. First of all, bearings on a power supply? So get a new fan for the PS, if that's all it is. Secondly, if feel you can still trust a guy who recommends a new (and under spec) PS for what was simply the need for a new fan... a don't get a "cheap" anything to do with a PS. Or an under spec'd PS either. But, IMO, this sounds like a bunch of nonsense. Get a quality, up-to-spec PS; Get a quality CPU; don't overclock the CPU (there are no "negligible" problems with a CPU - it's the CPU (!). Get a quality "guy" not someone who recommends "cheap" but this-and-that that he might just as easily (and less expensively) upgraded a part of...
