  1. I like you guys and I tend to post things here before they're properly annotated, described and scheduled so often I figured I would make my own thread for it. Feel free to delete this if it breaks any rules or clutters things, mods! And feel free to give feedback so that I can annotate and describe more effectively. Edit: These videos have been published, removing for redundancy.
  2. I feel like this is one of the better office levels I've played, to say the least.
  3. After sneaking past generators and thunderstorms where the AI could hear my footsteps just as well as they could in an indoor, quiet environment I think it's safe to say we need more attention given to having AI that hears worse or better depending on the noise generated by the environment. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is a great example of a game that had this down beautifully, can provide examples if need be for both levels that could use this touch in the Dark Mod and levels in games that handle this wonderfully.
  4. Definitely holds up, I'm curious how this ties into A Step Too Far, if at all. Recommendation I have to make, it basically ends up being impossible to read the book in the navigator's room unless I fire off a noisemaker, and this is to say the least a dangerous proposition with very little in terms of predictability (mostly due to how claustrophobic the environment is and how close other NPC's are), so I'd recommend adding loot the room to give the player a reward other than a redundant readable (a telescope wouldn't be too surprising), make the AI walk over to the map and study it for a moment every once in a while, or something to ensure my strategy isn't "fire noisemaker, rush to the light to turn it off, read in a hurry, look in chest with nothing in it and wait while anywhere between 1-8 AI cool down and become permanently more cautious just so I can read a book he wrote." Feel like I might be admitting to too much of a meta here, but still, as it stands there's a high risk room for no reward off the beaten path. Other than that, I can safely say this is a near perfect level.
  5. Maybe a repost, but I know you guys will enjoy this; a guy rigged his phone to find it's (inevitable) thief.
  6. Does the mission have the most up to date version of the map in the mission selector yet?
  7. Sands of Time is the best game in that list, and that's coming from someone with at least half a hundred hours in SC 1. Blood Dragon is proof the formula could work, but only if you keep it simple. They won't. Sometimes I wish Blood Dragon was the only Far Cry game released after 2, because it really is just great.
  8. I figured a thread for what I consider the best WRPG of the last 15 years was in order. What faction do you guys prefer over all the others? Preferred builds? Favorite, memorable moments? And for the record I know the game has terrible stealth, but I think any game with pacifist options this much is worth noting here.
  9. I think the idea of a precious mineral is perfect, but not for the main city. It's a perfect excuse for an entire second setting, an explosion of economic bubble and a good reason for mining aesthetic I don't see too terribly much of. Also, potentially bright for difficulty?
  10. Saw it, really hoping it's solid, as I don't think Commandos style gets enough attention. Lord knows we lost our only shot at it in 3D when Death to Spies 3 was tightened into Alekhine's Gun.
  11. Tight hallways and walkways when shit is really crowded. I know this falls under "assume the worst in AI pathing" but it holds true even for the best, it may look pretty but that doesn't mean a damned thing when I see two (or more) AI wrestling for a spot.
  12. If we're doing patches still, I think there needs to be a change. I'll be direct; the metal floor and the overly bright lights are too much, especially when the "shorter" route is through the brightly lit storage area. Too crowded, too bright, too loud surfaces, needs some form of relief, even with maximum noisemakers and moss arrows I can't budget for the last encounter well enough. I'm not about to make suggestions, but I genuinely think if you want this to be something the player can stealth score 0, all loot and read all the notes, the bottom level needs work.
  13. Agreed. This level I can safely say puts a lot of content I've paid for to shame. You guys really outdid yourself.
  14. So, this may or may not be related to the discussion but I figure I'd say something, enlightened, retarded or otherwise. I think after seeing just how divisive this entire election and post election period has been I'm just going to avoid the topic of politics with you guys specifically because I like all of you too much and don't want to lose any of you, especially since most of you seem actually quite reasonable. Not risking these bridges, not when it would be something I have such limited control over regardless. Hit me up on Twitter or in private, but I'm not making this a public forum issue in light of the fact that you're all cool people.
  15. I think any thread on this forum talking about Dark Mod owes it to have this video posted at some point. The one common thread tying Thief and Deus Ex on a deeper level outside of stealth is the focus on immersion, and what that can do on a deeper level.
  16. It'll be on max, and you'll see it when the video is out (although admittedly it may be a while, I am juggling way too many projects right now).
  17. I'm wondering, rather self-centered in fashion I must admit, that if I were to stealth score 0, all loot A Score to Settle and a Reputation to Uphold would I be allowed a custom title beneath my avatar? Something like "Perfectionist Taffer", or the like? Love you guys, feeling more at home every day, and whatever answer you give don't stop making amazing levels, I'll be covering them as long as I can either way.
  18. This. Unbind save and load if you want, and let your results speak for themselves. Iron Thief on classic Thief levels is a challenge without the option, it can be here too.
  19. A decade later and Windows 7 is still your best bet for an operating system for playing new and old games. Wow, did Microsoft screw the pooch.
  20. Next video: Neon Struct

  21. This is why I hold to the mindset that this is an absolute waste of taxpayer money. Agreed. Proving my above point. All this does is further open legitimate and legal citizens to inconvenience as esme has pointed out while doing absolutely nothing to stop anybody even remotely intelligent interested in illegal activities. This is just going to chill communication on the internet, which is getting to be quite old.
  22. I think we need to start including Doom wad style disclaimers that emphasize that this level's "normal" is most other level's "difficult", because I can't help but feel like the names aren't very indicative compared to playing the game itself or reading author descriptions. Mother Rose and this, for example, simply do not merit difficulty comparison, for a potential case.
  23. I told you this in private, Dragofer, but I think it should be public that the solution in the dining room on the boat is genius, but not signposted enough when every other level doesn't let you get into the bunks. Otherwise I can safely say this is one of the best missions I've ever played, and I'm excited to cover part 2.
  24. I usually agree on some level, but I find it just makes me create a save beforehand and do a prayer to RNJesus.
