  1. @SP Thanks, man! I just looked over some thumbnails, might try some pagan monster doodles or some more undead, they are fun to draw!
  2. My deleted post was a burst of exasperation on just that point - because I already raised that idea and his response was: Urgh... Then go and join the endless line of unfinished mods with a dozen weapon renders in the images section of ModDB.
  3. Arrrgh. Deleted due to nerd rage.
  4. @Durad OK, I can see you're driven with this idea and you have some people you know who want to help out and have mod experience. Please consider though - that you're kind of... making problems for yourself by wanting to recreate a game... If you spent 3 or 4 years on it, do you think it would be worth it, in the end? If you spent that time and energy on The Dark Mod as it now stands, you could have created a brand new campaign... Not bound by Garrett and the Trickster and the Keepers. You could make your own character, have him plundering new tombs and strange, Pagan horrors, scaling Necromancers' towers and picking his way through the ruins of the Plague Quarter... We've all played Return to the Haunted Cathedral a dozen times... Wouldn't you like to be making something from your own imagination rather than living in the past? Think of all the mods like Arx: End of Sun that could really use some help as well... TDM gives you the freedom to make your own characters, factions, enemies and locations, even your own history and mythology in the Empire... Just want you and your guys to think about that. =-/
  5. Anything that involves owls gets a thumbs up from me. :-X
  6. I'm gonna bump this as I've been doodling. Trying to get into a general air of productivity, glueing some Warhammer 40k mdoels. I generally get more pleasure from drawing them, however!
  7. Couldn't have put it better, myself. I've tried reinstalling and playing games on my new computer with maxed graphics and texture packs but it still "isn't the same". There are approaching 50 TDM missions, and more than a handful of them are equivalent to old Thief missions - and Lord there must be hundreds of DromEd FMs out there, seems kind of crazy to want to replay the game yet again. x-D In addition, it's not simply a matter of "porting" - it's rebuilding, with LOADS of missing assets... Think about the Burricks, Steam Beasts, Fire Elementals, Frog Beasts, Tree Monsters, Pagan Monsters - everything which doesn't have a model or texturing. If anyone had the will to be making stuff like that - I'd hope it would be for new and unique enemies in Bridgeport, rather than for a game I could play in my sleep. x-D
  8. A "Lost City" map to start off with? Suggestions of pagans? Wow, yet more FMs to get excited about. =-3
  9. Holy carp, this sounds brilliant - I thought they'd just be like T2 ones - ie, not hugely distinctive from rope arrows - this feels like a bit more of revelation! Great work, guys. =3
  10. Glad to see more tombs in an FM, Sir Taffsalot! That looks very nice and moody, Xcen. =3
  11. Failed mod projects and mappers usually don't share their resources - what incentive is there for whistleblowers to go digging if they know a corporate or law anvil is gonna drop on their heads? =-/
  12. This is exciting! Is Cleighmoor really that close to completion? I wait in anticipation =3
  13. @SH That's interesting! I was wondering how you managed to create such a large outdoor area in Winter Harvest.
  14. I think I'm playing this back to front - but I just want to say how impressive this level is - the slum feels maze like and intimidating!
  15. I just saw http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/07/01/brain-bending-torsion/ and it made me think of this topic!
  16. Speaking as someone who would occasionally help to feed my cousin's horse - damned if I could tell you the difference at a glance between one kind of dried grass and another - I woudln't worry about that - the more texture options around for mappers, the better. =-3
  17. Hey Biker - right by the graveyard there's some floating bits of masonry up there in the sky - thought I'd take a screenie to show you!
  18. @Demagogue: Oh yes, it's all fun and games until you start drinking with a Finnish family at a wedding... :-X
  19. "an abortion in every supermarket!" Man that is a pretty unique selling point! When my Dad goes on business trips to Finland, all he ever comes back with from the supermarkets is Bear Soup and that rancid salt liquorice. =-P (Though Fazer chocolate isn't bad!)
  20. @Serpentine: Hrrm, looking at my list now it seems to be only Flakebridge Monastery and Rake-Off... I thought it was more!
  21. Photoshop is very, VERY RAM hungry... You might want to check is CS2 actually supports multi core before upgrading the CPUs otherwise you might end up getting the less optimal one.
  22. @Sotha I think BD is asking because it looks like these are levels he is working on - and some nice textures - and perhaps he hopes to try and get him to share such things on the forum himself.
  23. Really stellar! When I joined the forum people seemed to be a bit doom and gloom about FMs being released this year - this past month has made up for a slower start. =3
  24. @Badcog You've pretty much summed up all of my thinking in your posts, thank you! x-D Having a key ring would stop you from having to wheel past "footlocker key" "John's footlocker key" "Master footlocker key" things you have unlocked, you KNOW have one purpose and you already picked the lock in the first place, you don't need to relock them BUT you can't drop them. As Springheel explained, letting people drop keys willy nilly isn't an option, so absorbing them into a key ring you have to select to open a door makes a lot more sense than having a key with an incredibly narrow and obsolete purpose take up the same "room" or "space" as the single unique key you need to finish a mission for an unpickable lock. =-P
