  4. Hi, I know that I've posted a few technical help questions on this forum about this before, but I really need some help. My doom3 copy is very "bugged". My Doom 3 is THE CORRECT 1.3.1 (BTW). Firstly. There is a doom 3 bug where corpses which are gibbed dissapear (as normal ). Then Reappear for a few seconds headless then dissapear. Secondly, Using most mods causes the crosshair to be positioned incorrectly. The bullet always hits the lower right of the crosshair. I use an ATI mobility 5730 card windows 7 x64 bit, for references. ATI CCC 10.7 Is this due to my faulty doom 3 CD? I've heard some people have this issue on the steam forums too. Thanks.

  7. [update] Spoke to Marcus @AMD UK on the phone and as it turns out a number of complaints have been made against "Spyre". My AMD forum account has been unbarred and my Ip address unblocked!!! Bought a new gfx card for xmas, been having issues with mainly the driver So I though a good place to look for support and polity vent etc - or so I thought My second post got flamed by some smart arse fanboy and then promptly locked, to which I reported the posted asking why it had been locked.. and then my account on there got deleted and my Ip blocked (untill the isp dhcp refreshed etc) so I cant login even with a different account name. I have emailed AMD directly about this as I did nothing wrong according the t&c's and I got no warning Pm or email from the forum mods. Now I've been over at the nVidia forums a long while back when I had the 8800GTX when I was equally frustrated when posting about the driver issue with thief etc, but at no point did a thread get locked or worse my account deleted. I don't have loyalty to AMD or nVidia but depending on the answer I get from AMD next week this card maybe going back and AMD will be added to the list of manufactures I will never buy anything from again.   9. When playing TDM, even at constant 60 fps, the game always somehow didn't run smoothly for me. There were small Micro-Lags, that made it all look more like 20 fps instead of 60. Today I incidentally stumbled over a solution to the problem, that worked out so great, that I thought I'd share it with you taffers. So here's the secret: Enable triple buffering and vertical synchronization in your driver settings! And that's already it. It's really unbelievable how much one can gain in graphical quality by simply changing driver settings. "I wonder how RttC plays with this..." - says he, running off to start TDM
  10. Well, I've made some hacks on Doom3.exe in order to "convince" it to support 3Dc format (ATI1/BC4 and ATI2/BC5). Of course, all other texture formats still should work as well. I must admit that I haven't try these hacked Doom 3 executables with 3Dc normals, but I've ran both Doom 3 and TDM with these hacked executables, and everything seems was ok. Does anyone want to try? If yes, please notice that my archive consists of two executables: Doom3_LATC.exe and Doom3_RGTC.exe. Jean Michiel Paul van Waveren, id Software, and Ignacio Castaño, nVidia, think that LATC is more convenient than RGTC in some cases, so I provide both versions: LATC and RGTC. I must warn you: there is no warranty that my executables will work as it should, so use it on your own risk.
  11. Hi guys, seems one of my Doom 3 mods screwed up the AI's pathfinding in the maps. The best advice I've got is to run runAAS for the map(s). When this didn't work, I did a complete dmap for the map I was on, and the pathfinding was fixed. However, using the dmap command I could only dmap one map at a time. Is there any way to dmap all maps at one?
  12. Today there are people talking about scary games and some other mod but can some of you name some good d3 mods that are less action type games and more exploratory or adventurous? Somethings like that one for Halflife2 called Dear Ester I think. Also if there are some good ones would I be able to play them without messing up TDM?

I just replaced my old laptop and my new one is giving me troubles when I try to run Doom3 (gotta have that working before I can install darkmod right) I appologize for asking this here but I don't like Doom and I am not part of the doom community (I bought doom3 so I could play TDM). before we get too far here are my system specs: Toshiba qosmio X505 Intel Core i5 CPU m450 @ 2.4 GHz 4 GB RAM Windows 7 64-bit NVIDIA GTS 360M 1GB video card not too sure about the sound card I see something called connexant HD and NVIDIA Hi definition sound but I don't know if that means it's an integrated card or discrete. hopefully sound isn't the issue. . . any way I installed doom3 to C:\Program Files (x86)\DOOM3 I took out the space doom likes to put between "doom" and "3" because I remember reading a while ago that the space there could cause issues with TDM. I have been reading more of the history of this Mod at ttlg lately (boy... those folks can be really contentious...) and have been living vicariously through their feelings of wonder and discovery for every old milestone for the Mod. It so much more rich of an experience than occasionally checking Moddb or Filefront (etc) for the latest Doom 3 mods. Even Doom3world doesn't have this wild and wooley type of community. I'd like to see who out there is like me and came into this mod primarily via Doom 3. I suspect that it may be 2 to 3 members (but I think rich_is_bored is from the Doom 3 camp so I may be in good company ???)

  17. Just returned from a 7 day holiday, opened up this forum, had at least 4 pages of "new content". Made it past page 2 (to about June 03), and then had to take care of a few things here. When I came back, the forum had logged me out (timeout?), and when you log out, it forgets all "new content". So you log in, and it says "there is nothing new for you". Great, now I never know what I missed between May 30th and June 03.... grrrrrrrrr With email, you would still have all unread messages *sigh* Is there a way to change this behaviour? It has annoyed me in the past, but not as much as this time.. Edit: It's even worse, there is "no new content", but when I go f.i. into the "off topic" sub-forum, it still shows me threads as unread that I definitely already did read an hour ago. So I can't even just look at all the "unread" threads. Oh boy...

Shortly after Doom 3 was released, one of the best Demo coders out there, Humus, found evidence that part of Doom 3's lighting interaction was originally planned to be done via shader math instead of via texture lookup. Humus re-enabled this method and modified the way it worked so that ATI hardware gained significant performance. This change has been incorporated into ATI's driver since then and I suspect that this inclusion is the reason why Catalyst AI causes so much havok for things the the Parallax Mapping mod and JC Denton's HDR work... I have occasionally corresponded with Humus over the years but would not really consider myself "connected"... nevertheless I have sent an appeal to him to look into this ongoing work and provide is ATI specific OpenGL expertise... All modules load correctly, but then it crashes to desktop right after selecting the game path.   21. Sorry if this has been posted before, I know some of you are already aware of this but I couldn't see a thread dedicated to it. I've only just come across this project called Thievious thanks to a post by clearing at TTLG. Although I was doubtful at first (inspired by TDS??) I was suitably impressed at the in-game videos and the potential that this could have, although the title of the mod sounds a little silly so I've suggested 'Thieves' would make a better name for a co-op Thief game. Now, I know that the TDM team aren't considering any multiplayer development, and most TDM fans (myself included) are primarily interested in a single player experience, but co-op would be a worthwhile addition to TDM gameplay since thieves would often (in the real world and in this universe) collaborate and are not always the lone wolf characters that most of us associate with Thief. I would hate to see this co-op project fail to progress because it's just a one man tech demo at the moment with no real support, and at the same time, it would be disappointing if it were to be completed, only to have one or two playable maps. My question then is, does the team agree that it would be mutually beneficial for Thievious and TDM if this project were taken under your wing, so to speak, so that if it were eventually completed it could benefit from being able to play TDM missions (some of which would presumably need to be modified for co-op support)? Ideally, what would be great is if at some point in the future, you could launch TDM missions from within the launcher in co-op mode, which would use the multiplayer work demonstrated in the Thievious project videos. More than anything, the reason I suggest this is that I hate seeing resources duplicated in different projects, when sharing those resources could speed up the development of both. I imagine that if Nightblade had been undertaken in Doom III it might still be around because they could have shared some of the resource and development work that went into TDM.
  22. Hey guys, I've been trying to solve this problem on my own forever now, and I realize that google isn't getting me anywhere. Ok, so I installed doom 3, play it while TDM downloads, and then install the dark mod, and then I get a runtime error on startup for TDM. I google, and I realized I need to be patched, so I download that latest patch, then the updater tells me that it doesn't know which version of Doom 3 i have, but somehow I can still choose a filepath for the updater, so I choose it, update it, and then doom 3 starts up after the updater closes. So now I do a fresh install of everything, and I even change file paths, like that would matter. And I mess around a while and mess with different fixes, and nothing changes. So I visit the forums, check out the FAQ, and I read where I need to have version 1.3.1.1304. So I make a fresh install of Doom 3 again, and I check out the version number in-game (Doom 3 works until I patch it) and it is 1.3.1.1302. So before I patch it, I try a fresh install of TDM AGAIN. and now it runs vanilla Doom 3. like the application was just doom 3 with a different icon and filename. I patch the game. and now I get the same exact console thing again.. the Wrong game DLL API Version one. So I guess my main question here is, what do I do to get this game to patch? pre-patch : Doom 3 runs fine, TDM gets a runtime error Post-patch : Doom 3 crashes and I get an error log or something, and TDM starts up Doom 3, which crashes as well. It loads up fine, and right when the initial loading is done (right before the main menu) bam. crash. I hate to have my first post be a problem, but I don't know where else to go.   24. I'm not having any luck whatsoever trying to solve what is wrong, but maybe someone here may have an idea. Generally, I'll play through Doom 3 and within a minute to 30 minutes, the game will randomly crash and only the sound plays in the background. I've reinstalled Doom 3 twice and the problem persists, (if it helps, I have the 3 CD Retail version and the game worked fine in '05) I even tried running with a single core because I ran out of options, but the game was just unplayable. Doom 3 is patched to the correct version as stated by the TDM Wiki, and I tried running TDM as a gamble and play through the training mission. It works really well but there is a SPECIFIC spot the game crashes in a similar fashion. It has done this three times; It's the object-room and Doom3.exe crashes when I'm looking into this room; Otherwise, TDM (training mission) works fine except that area. I'd love a solution to stop these crashes. I think it might be a Doom 3 resource specific problem, but I have no idea since I reinstalled plenty of times. Here's my PC specs either way; Windows XP Pro Radeon Sapphire HD2600 XT Pentium CPU D 3.40GHZ (Dual Core) Ram: 2.00gb Appreciate any help, thanks.
  25. My doomkey works fine with D3, but is not working with The Dark Mod after updating to the latest version. I also used it fine with the "old" version of the Dark Mod with "Saint Lucia" & "Thief's Den", but is now asking me to put the key in TWO (2) different boxes. I've tried taking the last 3 characters (where only 3 will fit in the last box), but that doesn't work either. PLEASE HELP...
