  1. A good reason to include in TDM as well.
  2. these are two rooms out of my first D3 map. the only reason why im learning this editor is so i can make TDM maps. these rooms arent finished. i have to add doors, better lighting and monitor screens. this is a small securit room ive been working on... pic 1 pic 2 this is a garage ive put a few hours in to.. pic 1 pic 2 What do you think so far?
  3. Welcome! You did a good job on the RemixB version - I especialy like how you handle distortion. Good mixing, too. Only the fuzzy sounds on center pan that start around 0:38 nag me a bit, because they contrast a bit offensive with the rest (they fit in nicely later, when there's going on more in the upper band). Maybe try a stereo split on those? Btw, I'm one of those who supports Thief-beats in TDM. Some nice ideas in undead.. although I'm a bit unsure about the Rhodes-like sound (0:12). The piano hit had me jumping though! Superbly placed. Keep them coming, good good stuff!
  4. *pulling the old thread out of the tomb* As you certainly noticed I wasn't very active the last week(s), I'm very sorry of this, but I've got several problems - a) my 'old' workflow (uvw-mapping the objects in blender and then convert them to lwo) doesn't work properly anymore and I've absolutely no clue why - faces are screwed up, colours don't fit anymore etc. b ) second thing is RL - the next three weeks are going to be really stressfull, so I won't have much time to work for TDM, which is of course a very untimely, since the milestone is approaching. anyway I'll probably work on some brush textures in my very limited freetime and hope, that I'll be completely "back" after the next three weeks.
  5. Yeah. That's about the only reason why I think TDM should have a big part on the TTLG forum.
  6. I like that image Renz but with vines it will end up looking like the gear from T2X. And should you have the face of a God anywhere? I don't know what the Hammer symbol is in TDM mind.
  7. Well, it made sense that he was a Keeper when I didn't know TDM wasn't including Keepers! The hammer necklace looked a bit like a cross, and the other things? Like no hammers I've seen, but, this is not the real world! Basically, it made sense it the time!
  8. How about in-game lore that teaches you the movements for glyph spells, then you have a key "write glyph" and then you use the mouse to sketch it in the air... Would be groovy. Don't know whether TDM would have to code for it specifically, or whether the FM writers could cover it... Also, there would probably need to be something to prevent people from just posting the glyphs on the 'net... But I think learning by reading it, and then actually having to do the action (as opposed to <key> does spell <x>) is really groovy.
  9. This means, no more nudging in TDM.
  10. So could tdm..it's Team Deathmatch. I've been naming all my files darkmod_blah to avoid conflicts.
  11. I was only musing/poking fun at the fact that some think that their preferences should be mandatory, while their anti-preferences should be made optional, but that same consideration is not extended to others. Random patrol routes are very do-able, (and quite cool) in T3. They should definitely be a feature in TDM.
  12. D3 can do the shadow of the player model without the need of placing the actual model. And there are also mirrors in D3 which we certainly will have in TDM maps as well, so the player can see himself even if it is not fully animated in all situations. And of course there can be in-game cutscenes as well where you can see the model.
  13. Last time I looked at Thief there were no bullets to shoot with. Similarily in TDM there are also no bullets to shoot with. Does that answer your question?
  14. I use Linux, but currently I use only Windows for development. As Linux is my primary desktop I'm also interested in running TDM on Linux, so you can be sure that this will be ported. Which distribution do you use? At the moment we have not an urgent need for Linux testing, as we want to get one platform stable, but later on we sure can use some testers with different distributions. I have gentoo installed.
  15. That design could work. But instead of numbers I would rather have Oddity's spikes. Numbers look to much technical for such a theme. It's ok for Doom 3, but it doesn't really fit into the TDM universe IMO.
  16. If you don't want to do your own code additions, then not. The idea of the mod is to provide a fulyz functional seperate code base so that you can create AND play FM missions based on the TDM universe. You don't even need to download the SDK, because when we open the source, the code is so intermingled with the SDK codebase that we can not seperate it, even though I would prefer this for various reasons. Since the SDK provides not API but the actual classes that are used for Doom 3 gameplay, there is no way how this can cleanly be seperated without a lot of overhead (and not even then).
  17. The light configuration is more up to what your machine can handle. Each light adds on renderpass. Having more than two lights on a single surface means n*light renderpasses. So you can easily determine how far you can go with current technology. You are not limited by TDM or Doom 3 design but by what your hardware can handle.
  18. I'm thinking of doing alittle of both, but I'm not as 1337 as you folks, so it'll probably just be Thief Style.. I read a post awhile back about the PDA interface in Doom 3 somehow being supplanted into TDM. I think it would be interesting to have the briefing movie available through the PDA (of course, not as a PDA). Don't know. I definitely think it will work as a kind of progress journal per mission...but I'm sure you guys have already thought of that. Thanks for the replies. Hylix.
  19. It's a great day for all of us who have wanted and waited for this. It is out and ready for DL right now. But I want to be the first to say keep up with the mission. TDM will still be great guys, and we still want it. Site redesign is at an inopportune moment (perhaps) but don't let the fevour surrounding T3Ed drown out your dreams. Subjective Effect
  20. I'm not saying I agree with the sentiment, nor am I downplaying or underestimating any of TDM's prowess as professionals. Underneath all of the adoration and praise that the T3 devs get from TTLGers is the marked sense of dissapointment that a franchise that was so loved and supported is met with a mediocre reply (namely T3). A game that is only still remembered because of it's PC fanbase, is given to the console gamers in such a way that even the console gamers turn a nose up. I mean really...how stupid does Eidos and Ion really think X-Boxer's are? But in the end, T3 is the only other "official' continuation to the story, and just like the Matrix Trilogy, die hard fans are willing to swallow anything handed to them as long as it has farmiliar names on it. People still defend last Matrix movie, even though it was so obviously sub par at best. Just like the Wachowski Brothers, Eidos and Ion manged to fuck up an unfuckupable franchise. All I guess I'm saying is not to take it so personally. Alot of people over there have made thief thier lives, even if just on a subconcious level. It must hurt to realize that a game can end up sucking just as much as real life does. Hylix.
  21. Im realy glad to here you are continuing TDM. This mod is built on a vastly superior engine (imho) the unreal 2.x engine is good but not a patch on doom3. That you have a full sdk to work with, and the tools to add more to the mod to allow for truly inovative and original gamplay to this thief like setting is great. While I am happy the tds editor has been realsed I am still looking forward whole heartedly to the Dark Mod.
  22. Personally I'm not really interested in making a Thief campaign. So if the team decides to switch to T3Ed then it's their choice. Currently I can't see this happening though. Our primary goal was not to create a campaign anyway, so that has not changed that much, even though we focus on a campaign already for other reasons. I prefer to make a game of my own instead of just creating maps and therefore I don't really care that much for the Thief licence. Especially as it is limited anyway. TDM is our own world, which is inspired by the Thief universe but not a verbatim copy of it, so we have any freedom with it and are not dependent on any licence. And it still has to remain to be seen how much freedom the T3 editor allows. With D3 we know our limitations already, which are pretty slim. Which means that it makes more sense to wait a little until we really know what can and what can not be done with it. But that will take a few weeks at the least, IMO.
  23. Thanks Ishtvan, good thinking. I had forgotten about that concern and I don't recall if it was followed up or not (the missing target_tip entity, apparently removed from TDM).
  24. But, do you mean that the mapper would look in explorer, or load up another map, to see what model to select? I'd just hammer through them brute force, myself. But the name descriptions you mention would certainly help there. Renz: That's another mighty fine point (re: the textures). Surely, or at least we should hope, tons of TDM modding will happen. Like numerous others here, I'm half-German too (by parentage, not place of residence) so I just like things in neat little packages. Just. Like. So. ...Okay, so I'm anal-retentive. I think I may have just made a racist remark.
  25. Screw Eidos! Thank you to all of the wounderfull TDM moders out there, with the Doom 3 tools at your hand you can create a better Thief DS version! I look forward to your work. PS: You would all rock if you make a MP version, but one thing at a time. We're all waiting.
