Just finished playing this morning, this was awesome, in an old skewl way - would love to make a TDM homage to it...

I'm using the CD with TG, T2 and T3 on it. Darkloader doesn't like it. I can't get TG FMs to work

  3. i hate to start a new topic about this, as its kinda petty, but i couldn't find it anywhere. (yes i searched in more than one rephrasing.) the movement speeds are immersion breaking for me and i want to change them. creep is good, but i feel that walking should have a bit more glide to it and running feels like I'm trying to run in waist deep water with clown shoes on while banging a tambourine over my head. if its gonna produce that much noise while running i expect to be moving at more than a "brisk trot". i know its not that big of a deal so I'm not whining for a patch just because because i don't like it, i just wanna know if there is a command line variable i could tweak to personal preference? p.s. now that i think about it I'm kinda surprised that the fatigue bar from Doom3 isn't implemented for running, climbing, and lifting things. (i.e. when you pick up a item the fatigue bar drops at a rate variable to the mass of the box, or if you spend too long hanging on a rope or a vine ladder you will get tired and fall off.) but you guys are fucking pro! so you probably have your reasons for not implementing it.
  4. I miss the brown borders dividing up the sub forums. This great big block of grey looks ugly.

  7. Hello!

I saw on TDM forums that you are a very talented level designer. Could you lend your talents for The Sly Project? (http://tsp.comlu.com)

We have no level designers yet and the project was announced almost a year ago. Please join us! I'm looking forward to your answer friend.

    Best wishes: Oszkár Winkler

  8. Hello!

You mentioned on TDM forums that you are a skilled modeler. Could you lend your talents for The Sly Project? (http://tsp.comlu.com) There are only a few models we need.

If you are interested, please e-mail me: woszkar@gmail.com

    Thank you! :)

  9. [update] Spoke to Marcus @AMD UK on the phone and as it turns out a number of complaints have been made against "Spyre". My AMD forum account has been unbarred and my Ip address unblocked!!! Bought a new gfx card for xmas, been having issues with mainly the driver So I though a good place to look for support and polity vent etc - or so I thought My second post got flamed by some smart arse fanboy and then promptly locked, to which I reported the posted asking why it had been locked.. and then my account on there got deleted and my Ip blocked (untill the isp dhcp refreshed etc) so I cant login even with a different account name. I have emailed AMD directly about this as I did nothing wrong according the t&c's and I got no warning Pm or email from the forum mods. Now I've been over at the nVidia forums a long while back when I had the 8800GTX when I was equally frustrated when posting about the driver issue with thief etc, but at no point did a thread get locked or worse my account deleted. I don't have loyalty to AMD or nVidia but depending on the answer I get from AMD next week this card maybe going back and AMD will be added to the list of manufactures I will never buy anything from again. So whats the moral of this story, well take your pick.. [update] found cached copies of 1 of my posts Cached AMD frum link Cached AMD forum link2
  10. when i do a search, it give me some results, I click on a result and exspect to get taken to the post it specifies - but no..... I get taken to the first post of the bloody thread it is in..ggrrr
  11. http://www.metamotion.com/mb_page_assets/3d_paths.html You can create a path from nothing, or you can automatically create one based on the keyframes of whatever body part. SOOO useful, for getting limbs swinging realistically. It was complicating things so much adding all those extra key frames to emulate curved movement. I'll add this to the wiki.
  12. why are they so slow this evening..??
  13. The forums have been upgraded, please see this thread: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/9845-forums-upgraded-to-ipb-3-0-3
  14. Now that the search animation is relative to the origin bone, I have a problem with foot slipping, that I've been trying to sort out for 3 hours... The foot makes contact with the ground. You put a key frame on it. You want it to stay there while the body moves forward. So when the hips move forward (taking the foot with it, since it's a child) you move it back where it made contact with the ground, and put a key frame on it. So it should stay on the ground in the same spot whilst the body moves forward, right? Fucking NO. It does some weird arse slide forward and backward again between the two points, still starting and finishing in the same spot, but with a wierd slip forward and backwards in between... Adding "correctional" key frames to keep it still, winds up with you pretty much putting a key frame on every frame, and yet it still seems to wobble unsteadily, and this is a brutal, hacky, messy solution, that will be a nightmare to edit if I ever want to change the animation. Opening the FCurves window to see if the bezier curves are causing some problems doesn't seem to help. I've set those keyframes to be flat (no curves for the movement, for translation and rotation) and they still do it! There has got to be an easy solution to get feet to stop slipping. I've been reading about some arcane solution involving override clips or something, that I can't quite understand yet... surely there's some easy way to say "between these two keyframes, keep the foot HERE no matter what"? I'm going to post on CG Talk... *edit* http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php...472#post4141472 I also posted links to example anims there.
  15. Just returned from a 7 day holiday, opened up this forum, had at least 4 pages of "new content". Made it past page 2 (to about June 03), and then had to take care of a few things here. When I came back, the forum had logged me out (timeout?), and when you log out, it forgets all "new content". So you log in, and it says "there is nothing new for you". Great, now I never know what I missed between May 30th and June 03.... grrrrrrrrr With email, you would still have all unread messages *sigh* Is there a way to change this behaviour? It has annoyed me in the past, but not as much as this time.. Edit: It's even worse, there is "no new content", but when I go f.i. into the "off topic" sub-forum, it still shows me threads as unread that I definitely already did read an hour ago. So I can't even just look at all the "unread" threads. Oh boy...
  16. Is it possible to have to mouse sensitivity decreased when carrying an object? The heavier the object the more it is decreased. I think this would go some way into giving the object a sense of weight as more effort is required to adjust your view. This could also be used to enhance believability of swimming etc. Also, I really would like the ability to have a free look modifier whilst maintaining movement in a particular direction. Operation Flashpoint/Armed Assault do this with the ALT key if you know that game.
  17. Announcement: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?showtopic=8900 Please post any comments, bug notices, etc in this thread. If you have any issues with the new forums, please try to refresh/remove your Internet browser cache. Thanks ~m2
  18. I'm sorry if starting another topic is against the rules, this just seemed like a completely different thing. My question: how much attention are you guys going to pay to movement control? After discovering this forum I decided to replay at least one mission of t2 (having chosen my favourite about the Angelwatch- mostly because of my love towards the Thieve's Highway) and I must say that things were VERY frustrating. An obvious thing would be to implement a separate key for grabbing ledges and ropes (it's mantling? I'm not sure), because Garret would often try to jump instead of mantling, causing unnecessary noise (after dropping back on the floor) or death (having fallen down the ledge). My other request would be more control over jumping- for example holding space, then holding a direction button and then releasing space should make the PC perform a jump in the given direction (so that we can jump from a standing position). Honestly, the Flashback game seemed to allow better control ;P This is all just suggestions, but if it's easily implemented, I'd be very grateful.
  19. I've just completed the upgrade from IPB 2.2.x to 2.3.6, the newest official release of IPB. This was done to stay ahead on the IPB version 3 that is currently in the beta stages. Please post any comments, bug notices, etc in this thread. PS: If you have any issues with the new forums, please try to refresh/remove your Internet browser cache. Thanks, ~m2
  20. I was curious about how the blackjack will be implemented. In TDS you cant KO someone with a sword out while you can still do it in T2 if he doesnt see you. In other words how difficult is it to KO someone? The second question is about Garrett's body movement, I recently reinstalled TDS and replayed a couple of missions-only to discover one of the things that seemed to annoy me before, your movement seems rather sluggish and disconnected to the game world, how's it working out so far in D3?
  21. Alright, sorry for starting a new thread, but the old one was getting kind of clogged and off-topic. I have a different question now, this time about movement options. I'm going call into attention the game Metal Gear Solid 2 (blaphsemy!) for a moment. Now, I didn't love the Metal Gear games--in fact, I never finished them--but one of the they had a few neat bells and whistles that I enjoyed a lot. For one, you could crawl, enabling the player to hide in small spaces, like under tables or other low objects. I also liked the fact that you could "tap" on a wall to get a guard's attention, although they did tend to forget about you rather quickly after that. The ability to hang over ledges was kind of neat, too, if not particularly realistic. So, are you considering implementing any of these features into your finished product? Or, maybe a better question, might any of these even be possible using the D3 engine? I hope you guys (that is, "the team") doesn't mind that I'm pumping you for information--I'm just really excited about this mod and eager to see how it turns out.
  22. The dark mod has come along way. with dark radiant released and many Thief FM makers out there along with the hype about this mod in the thief community maybe You guys should add in some new parts of the forums. For editor Discusion, and just general mapping. along with coding and stuff. so there is help here for the mappers that are at work learning and using the D3 editor. just a thought it would be a good move to create a really good base of DM editors for the release. it would help us solve the problems we are having and get better as we talk about it and learn the editor. also maybe a FM concepts forum to. to talk about ideas for good maps and for ppl to req mappers and coders for DM projects... i think its the right move. it would also bring a lot of new people interested in the mod's comunity on a daily bases. maybe we can steel some of the fm makers from the first two thiefs haha. hopefully. theres alot of amazing FM's out there for the first 2.
