Any chance of implementing the Doom 3 GUI/computer interfaces stuff with the street signs, so you could theoretically fit in any name with little work without having to touch the actual texture? Or at least that's how I for some reason assume the signs in Doom 3 were made, I could be way off..

Springheel: if you could do a signpost like in St. Lucia but with a gui surface then with a suitable gui and entity the mapper need only type in xdata. I think for short text it can be typed directly into the entity property but I forget the syntax. So a mapper need only create a signpost entity then type in say xdata_contents High street.

I was planning on making a gui version as well for those that need specific names, but it's not ideal; the text will look artificially flat and crisp and won't show up at all under fast ambient.

Ok, I've added a model with a few skins and a gui overlay (I'm not great with readables so I'm not quite sure how to use it). The textures can also be used on regular brushes for added variety.

 

The models are under decorative/signs, and the textures are under darkmod/decals/signs

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
