Eventhough we should first focus on the mansion theme, these pictures may be a good inspiration for our city. (this time I scanned the pictures -> they have a much better quality)

The pretty high buildings remind me of T1/2. T3 city buildings were rather low in comparison (that's why the city felt more like a village than a city to me) :

I must say i like the good old german style more than the victorian...

If the Thief-citys look like these pics... then i only want to play city-Fm´s...

They're cool. kind've look like a Bavarian-style town we have here nearby. I'll have to try and dig up some pics of that town to see if anything would work. Regardinig German style versus Victorian, i dunno, it's kind've a toss-up but I think I prefer Victorian. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like T2 was more Victorian-themed than German? T3 had a more German flavor to it to me. Maybe that's why I'm not as hip on the German style for DM.

IMO the newer/best? FM´s went towards german style...

Cosas Gati, Calendra´s Legacy...

Maybe we should ask at TTLG, which style is most wanted by the FM authors?

And take a look at 1 of the best CG Artists IMO from Germany...

Yes, definitely some great work. The marketplace didn't really inspire me much, though -- too much activity for me. I don't really like the "city/market" type levels in Thief, especially not in T3. I'm fine with just mansions, houses, churches, courtyards and castles for some reason ;)

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Trying to be productive on my down-time before Capcom releases Akuma and my son is constantly on my PC playing Street Fighter...

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.
