The top one already looks real fine. :) I'm not sure if we really should release such shots because it might give the impression that we are much farther ahead then we are. On the other hand, that might not be so bad either. :)

 Well, if we decide to release them a little later...we can say that they are concept shots and that AI are not yet ingame, but everything else they see is working.

I was thinking of getting some more characters game ready anyway, then we won't have to lie)

Not looking forward to it though, this part is all tedious hard work and no fun. Reducing polygons... *yawns*.... Uvmapping..... *stretches*.... rigging and weighting....*lapses into a coma*

I just cut the middle polys away. IT uses less and looks the same anyway.

I'm not so sure about having the metal handles just pasted on as part of the texture though. It'd be better to have them as separate little boxes with alpha maps.

thx so much oddity - it took me hours and hours and I couldn't get rid of this error. guess it took YOU just five minutes

Ack, before any shots involving something like that city or any other area I've made go out, please give me time to make them look better at least (model use, proper textures, finalized lighting). These were built as test areas (I wish I'd known to spruce it up for the christmas video) and as such don't look too great.

No worries, I'm just playing around for our inspiration. :)

I come up with this radical new design for the lightgem/compass combo. It's keeps a coherent style for the HUD, since everyone is happy with the classic gem, I did this in the same style.

There is only need for a North pointer on a compass, everything else is extranious.

Hmm, I like it. Nice and consistent, making the design of the rest of the HUD easier. I also like that the 'wireframe' design hides less of the screen.

Could you tilt the model a little more, so that the point takes up less space when it comes around the bottom? That would allow us to put it closer to the bottom of the screen, and the north spike is long enough that we should be able to see it above the gem even at a greater angle.

Excellent. Excellent work! I'd already decided I'd be playing with the compass in inventory, but this baby might make me change my mind. :)

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.
