Crash when restarting engine in 2.06

Hey Everyone,

 

I can't figure out whats going on but sometimes when I reloadEngine the game crashes. Its often enough to be annoying. I think it has to do with anytime I reload after I changing values to the renderer or reload textures/ models, but I can't be sure.

 

Anyone else have this? Suggestions?

2.06 x64. Multicore / uncapped/ soft shadows on. Windows 10.

Try to set multi core off for starters.

Yes, Multi-Core and r_useFBO (for Soft Shadows) are likely culprits.

 

We have a bug report open about the latter.

I can confirm this, I don't have multi-core on and I am pretty sure I don't have FBO on either because of the warp glass issue. Still get crashes on reloadEngine every time.

 

Yeah I am getting in even after turning off multi-core and FBO. Its a bummer.

Yep its related. r_skipRender stills creates a crash for me.

 

As Judith mentioned this is a high priority bug as we are constantly reloading images and the engine itself when adding new files or changing stuff.

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
