I can't find any topic where this new feature is being described or discussed so allow me to create this one.

I tested Auto-Search Bodies and I like it a lot, to the point that it may very well become my default someday. We all know how hard is to make that purse, key, scroll... highlight,  so this is, in my opinion, a welcome addition to the game. Thanks to those involved!

My only concern is that if a body has more than one item you grab them all in one go, preventing me from knowing I just acquired more items than the one showing in the HUD. If a feature is not to be trusted then I don't see the point in this exercise and I would like to know why the current approach was considered superior over one-frob = one-item.

Regards!

We had this concern too.
There was even a setting where you loot one item at a time (per frob).

As far as I remember, we did not find any simple way to show info about multiple items.
The suggestions either would cause issues with other GUI elements (e.g. subtitles), or need some major development specifically for this detail.

Another issue I have with auto search is that when knocking out someone I often have to quickly move the body, but a quick shoulder body is not possible because first the auto-frob happens. I expected the auto-search would not be a seperate frob, but part of the shoulder action. I guess I have to get used to double-click for shouldering anyway.

Is there a way to make multiple sounds while getting multiple items? That would be enough to make the player check the inventory. Also auto-search could be the final reason to accept the current implementation ;): short-frob shoulder body, long-frob auto-search body and grabbing it for movement.

I think yes, although I think it's better to play different sound.

I don't understand how it helps though... opening inv grid and trying to see what is new?

Exactly. Snatcher fears to overlook a key or a scroll when also getting loot. As these all make different pickup sounds this should fix the issue! And I don't remember seeing anything else on a body than those three item classes either...

There is always something else in some mission which you can miss, which don't fit your classification.
Mere fact that the sounds has two beeps should be enough to warn that several items were picked up.

Could the inventory grid show the last picked up item(s) in a separate section of last picked up on top?

In the list it would show the last item(s) added through either auto-search or multi-loot or just one item pick-up.

What beep would that be? A new one or something that is used already? I think right now you get different sounds...

I think it can show different color somewhere based on how much time ago you got the item.
This could be useful even in general, not only for multiloot.

I've toyed with the idea of having an in-game lootlist that is added to every time you pick up an item of loot. It would show the loot type and value and the location you found it. You could browse it and potentially save it to a text file. Something like this could easily include picking up keys etc.

I posted about it before, but I think the default tdm logo video looks outdated. For a (i.m.o.) better looking version, you can download the pk4 attached to this post and plonk it in your tdm root folder. Every mission that starts with the tdm logo then starts with the better looking one. Try for example mission COS1 Pearls and Swine.

I finished DOOM - The Dark Ages the other day. It is a decent shooter, but not as great as its predecessors, especially because of the soundtrack.
