Quick Question About Bodies

We've already done it, but unless you're piling the bodies up in huge heaps, I doubt it'll make much difference to framerates.

It does mean the ragdolls have to be pretty good though, since in doom you only get a beief glimse of them before they disappear, while in thing game you get to toss them around in different positions.

Ragdolls are not realistic. You have to have an initial death animation which leads into the ragdoll taking over. People tend not to die instantly on missile impact and go totally limp like they just had a blackout.

What i would have loved to have seen in T3 is the body screaming when it doubles over in the way bodies aren't meant to double over.

 

Why? Dead or unconscious bodies don't scream in real life.

 

It would have been better to get the animations right as oDDity points out, rather than masking their deficiencies by sacrificing yet more realism.

Hmm, a little off-topic. There have never been any pregnant women in Thief, and the only children are in Dedx. I think without birth control you would at least have a few barmaids, and the odd noblewoman who are pregnant. And we all know how easily babies wake up, a true test for a thief to steal something in the babies room.

 

And a little morbid. If you are only allowed 1 kill in a mission, and you kill a pregnant woman, do you lose the mission 5-10 minutes after killing her?

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
