Listen, I'm not mad, scripters. Well, maybe just a little upset, but mostly bewildered.
I'm reading all these script files, and their indentation, and I'm just picturing some sort of frat party going on, where everybody is plastered, and is sometimes just making out while sitting on the spacebar.
I mean you have heard of indentation, right? ...like properly nested indentation?
...because the first time I looked at one of your script files, I was like "Oh! So this is a sort of indentation based nesting, that looks very complex now, but which I'm just going to have to learn.".
...but no. Apparently this is obfuscation that makes every script look like "ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn".
Why?
Just why?

Just some examples to help you understand why you're experiencing pushback and building up that reputation, and sure not coming across as polite:
Quote"I mean you have heard of indentation, right? ...like properly nested indentation?"
"Look, if it's too much for you, I understand. You're not stupid or anything like that. On the contrary, I assumed you could do it because you were smart. ...but editing an engine is hard for most people - I get it. "
"You didn't "find" it. It's literally the first hit when you search for "export DDS"."
"I am Springheel, king of the forum, and I have the source files, and I know everything, and I can provide you with the perfect godly DDS."
"Instead of mere ghost stories to scare children with, can you tell me some examples of what to watch out for, as I continue to test the limitations of this editor?"
"I'm starting to doubt that any of you even have Dark Radiant installed on your computers at this point. ...or maybe this has turned into some sort of a joke at my expense - don't know, don't care. Fine: Don't send me files. Turns out I didn't need them anyway."
That's why I say it could be helpful to compare what kinds of remarks you make compared to most other people posting feedback. We're open to everyone, but social interactions work by similar rules everywhere.

The problem is that virtually all your critique is wrapped in insults and comes off as arrogant and rude. It's an approach that won't get you anywhere, neither in an online community nor in real life, regardless of what your skill level or the validity of your points may be.
If you have difficulties gauging the tone of your writing, you could look at examples of critique in the "Things that could be improved" or "Wishlist for DarkRadiant" threads or the bugtracker, where the majority of people manage to convey feedback constructively.
If on the other hand your aim is to get on as many ignore lists as possible... it's certainly working.

I've tried to update to 2.10 from 2.09 with the TDM updater but fails to update saying my installation is up to date, first time this has happened in many years of using the updater. So I guess I need to install a fresh new version which is unfortunate because of all the in game settings which will be lost with a new installation. There is a keybinds config file which I'll backup but don't know which files to back up for other in game settings

The final solution for low-end GPUs:
r_skibSubviews 1 r_skipInteractions 1 r_shadows 0 r_ambientMinLevel 0.6
tdm_lg_interleave 0If you don't get 60 fps after this then either your CPU is really slow or it's a map bug
EDIT. tdm_lg_interleave is probably not required since r_skibSubviews supersedes it.

I should be able to beta test some missions. Built a new 5700G + GTX 970 system.

Always a mission that needs testing these days.

Feels like a month since I've touched DR, real life is so busy... If you're waiting on my next FM, I feel you, sometimes it feels I'm waiting on myself too...

I wish we had more of small bite-size FMs. I realized I don't have time to play grand multihour missions anymore... But nice 0.5-1h (1h max!) missions would fit perfectly to my evening schedule.

It's so difficult and frustrating to create nice looking city sections!!!

I've been thinking for a while that the TDM community could use a thread where mapping wisdom is compiled into one place. It could contain this thread for example: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/17657-level-design-lessons-from-thief-the-dark-project/

Nothing like the crackle of a fireplace, a grandfather clock ticking somewhere in the room and the sounds of the night coming through the window for getting some ambience going.

Even though the description says not to use it, will replacing a coinpurse on an AI with "atdm:prop_empty" mess anything up? the game seems to be fine so far but the description for the prop_empty was vocal about not using it.

That moment when your thief starts climbing around like a sailor in the rigging of your 1:50 scale model ship.

Voted remain, but see the unwashed masses were swayed by the lyers, usurpers and snakes.

You need to commit to common trade rules for a common trade union to function. See TTIP: if the US can sell gene-modified crops in Europe while the EU can't, then EU farmers get disadvantaged by the deal because of the difference in regulations. Also, boosting ex-USSR countries via infrastructure investments is a good thing because it expands the EU market.

Brexit battle bus of Johnson claims UK sends £350m a week to EU, but in reality UK had 'renegotiated' that to 2/3rds under Thatcher, and benefits handsomely from EU funds to support British research, agriculture etc. so net cost is £120m pr. week. Talk about lies, by the presumptive future PM at that.
