  1. Oh man, what a day to be banned from the PC by my wife. NHAT has been re-released...

hey now, for all we know nbohr might have been neglecting the kid, housework and such to test tdm :-P

  2. TDM v2.03 testers needed. Especially those players who spam quick-save!

Recommend a mission with a lot of particle FX? I recall a bunch in Alberic's Curse

    2. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

"Let Sleeping Thieves Lie" is an amazing showcase of the new particle behavior. As is "William Steele 3: Cleighmoor"

    3. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

Alberic's is great too but it already looked so good that the impact of the change isn't as great. If you want a "before\after" Let Sleeping Thieves Lie really does it.

  3. Not that TDM was really in the running but it's quite odd to see that 4chan has totally gamed Moddb's MOTY with Euro Truck Simulator 2. We need a channer on our side...

  4. Really dreading Xmas. Kids already have too many toys to comfortably walk around the house, now the wife has filled half her craft room with more. I feel like I'm trapped in a Shel Silverstein book and our roof will pop off from toy overflow...

I imagine that your garnish of a stranger's lawn was only marginally the fault of the Irish Cream. The last time I got that drunk was years ago in university, when we played Wizard Sticks. Wizard Sticks is a game where you all come to the party in wizarding attire and drink any alcohol that comes in a can. When you finish a can, you sellotape the top of it onto the bottom of your next one and, before long, you have a multi-branded wizard stick!

I'm too much of a wuss to drink that much. The last time I came close, I passed out in a bath-tub and was awoken by strangers speculating whether I had died or not. I'm probably the only one who was amused by that. I never thought of myself as a Belushi-esq "party till you die" type of person given my strong nerd inclinations.

Ironically enough, my endlessly nerdy inclination has had me drunk more than my socialite side has. Nerdy drinking games during movie marathons are to blame.

  5. Hoping to do some coding this evening. Must resist urge to update my SVN and try out new things...

That's always the first thing I do every time I go on my computer; update svn lol.

      nbohr1more

Yep, that was a bust. Will try again tonight :)

  6. Good news: I can compile my own TDM. Bad news: My elegant bind solution is not working (newstage data isn't persisted this far) Good news: I have an excuse to make my own architecture Bad News: I'll probably waste a few days trying to make the elegant one work somehow because I'm stubborn...

There's a fine line between stubborn and foolish. Someone with a time-machine, please post an update to tell me where I am on the spectrum... :)

  7. Got a real GPU now (sorta, GT 730) Pretty big performance boost.

384 core. I see that it out-performs a Geforce 8800 in 3DMark which boggles my mind given that it's has a 64-bit memory interface. Must have a comparatively large cache unless they've really improved efficiency that much...

      Bikerdude

Niiiiiceeee!!!!!, no you can plan the mod the way its ment to be played.

  8. Hmm, the Interaction Table gets sent to a VBO and looks very much like what you do with a Forward+ renderer sending the light index to a G-Buffer...

  9. Testing... my thread posts aren't working...

Yup, although PMs are still down. But we're on the upstreak :)

  10. How's that beta going Goldwell?

    1. Goldwell

      Goldwell

It's all going well, the only problem I have is that the mission is a bit too short. So I might be doing some more building which will delay the release some more.

    2. 161803398874989

      161803398874989

It's only short if you go in, complete the main objective, and get out. It's definitely worth it to explore the mission in detail!

  11. So serpentine left LATC loading in the mod after all? Gonna see if my intel GPU works with the latest drivers..

      nbohr1more

      LATC is 3Dc in OpenGL.

    4. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

Nope, my Drivers only support RGTC :( I'll try to copy support for that into Image_load.cpp when I get a chance.

  12. Turned off image downsizing to see if it was causing a graphic glitch. Forgot to turn it back on and (surprisingly) PD2 loaded without crashing. I was not prepared for the visual boost. It's a crime to play this without full texture\bump quality.

      SteveL

nboh1more, could you retry the water shader again without downsizing please? You just made me think of a reason why it might have worked on my mum's old intel laptop but now yours. One of my depth lineraization formulas assumes the texture is larger than screen space. Whoops. Although by rights soft particles shouldn't have worked either... or maybe you got no fadeout at all of the particles!

    3. SteveL

      SteveL

      *nbohr1more

      *but not yours

      *linearization

    4. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

I will retry but soft particles work just fine :)

  13. Now that I'm tinkering with render code, the cost of MS compilers is really hitting home. :( Time to get Linux back on my PC...

The big issue is DoomEdit and Dmap as I recall. The former is not too much of a problem while the latter is a bit tricky. I think there's a non-mfc DMAP project though...

    3. SteveL

      SteveL

I'm going to have to put that on the ever-lengthening list of stuff I'd *like* to get to. I've done a few full step-throughs of dmap while researching some bsp errors in the summer.I mean full -- 8 hours solid F11-ing for a test map with 7 brushes -- and I don't remember any weird library dependencies. One to look at.

    4. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

yeah, one day at a time... and try to stick to stuff you like working on so you don't lose enthusiasm...

  14. Just played a little "Lockdown". Man that mission has way more nooks and crannies than I remembered.

One of the best TDM missions imho. God, if someone could make a successor.

I believe GDG is working on a sequel and I will probably have to perf. that as well :-D

  15. Heh, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars had a STUFF system... http://wiki.splashdamage.com/index.php/STUFF_System Does this look familiar Tels? :)

At least they didn't name it "SPORE" :-D

  16. If we help Biker with his driver performance problems he'll stop trying to optimize his upcoming mission... Talk about conflict of interest :)

  19. That new AI panel in DR 1.8.1 is fantastic! Also nice and stable toggling between light modes

  20. OK, I see Moddb did the favor of mirroring our project to IndieDB: http://www.indiedb.com/mods/the-dark-mod less confusion now...
