  2. i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...

tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

i wanna try my luck with ddrescue, Unfortunately my external 3.5" hdd/ssd docking hasn't arrived yet.

as a former sysadmin, the funny thing is that I used to remind my coworkers about migration and backup, but now i am careless about my own personal data.

it's time to reiterate 321 backup rule

Remember when the SSDs recently arrived, we were all talking about how they're expensive and pointless due to the low storage?

Well, not all of course, but most of us were, I sure remember that.
I was more a "give it time" guy, prudent as hell, the moment I got my first SSD I thought it was good, but not really a big deal...Because it was just a puny 120GB Kingston SSD and I even put it on my old SATA2 instead of SATA3, no need to mention that despite having a badass CPU, the 2600k, it's still 2014 tech!

But man, I just went further generations, got me an M2 Gen 4 SSD, a complete new PC too of course...And I don't ever regret buying it.

You should do like me and put your Thief, Thief 2, Thief 3 and The Dark Mod into your M2. Gen 4 SSD if you ever get the chance to buy one, it's a guilty pleasure I have no shame with considering that any average SSD will be fine enough for all these games.

-SNAP- somehow the forum double posted the same message, I think we are in The Twilight Zone of the Internet.

  4. well i am habitual to using iptables to a certain extent. The simplicity of BSD's packet filter is fascinating. I begin to muse on the possibility of rolling my own x86 router and the pros&cons of it
  5. just droppin a random video here creatively made video :
  6. yeah the empty room took me by surprise at the end of the game(i managed to turn off the music tho). so who was jamming to the music? i managed to hop into the window of the empty room by stacking a crate. My attempt to do the long jump from the starting apartment didn't fare well...
  7. i am using TDM 2.12 beta 5 running on windows 10...
  8. Greetings. i want to report a possible bug in reynald's laboratory location. It's a bug where you can go through wall
  9. Think of the book as a surface that can be pierced by arrows and is very flexible to be carried over anywhere. Orient the book to upright with the front side/back side of the book and the tail of the rope arrow facing you, jump normally like jumping into a rope arrow while continuously pressing the key W (move forward) and space together on the keyboard.
  10. my random videos about ... umm.... TDM quirks
  11. i don't see pierced tin lantern anywhere in TDM. I think it can coexist with current TDM's theme. This type of lantern don't amplify light but it casts beautiful lighting patterns
  12. Does this 2.12 bring much more graphic overhead for low-end GPU ?
  13. i am looking to play this FM and can't wait to try it next week. It looks like a good FM with a vast & open ended area to explore. I am getting swamped by TBP this very time
  14. After taking a gaming break for 1 week, i decided to get back into playing games yesterday especially stealth game like TDM. Coincidentally, this new fan mission appeared in the online mission archive when i was clicking "download mission" button, so I decided to download & try playing it. I like this manor/estate fan mission so far. i like the starting point of this FM where you have to venture silently into small-scale spider-infested forest. On a related note, i have sporadic spider phobia and again this mission helped me to desensitize myself to spider. I usually find the entry point to the manor disguised as a wall with loose bricks or covered with tall green grass but i have to find stone walled key for this one
  15. A feature to push rating data to thiefguild.com website might be a great idea but apparently thiefguild doesn't have any sort of API . On that note we need to find a way to supply the authentication to thiefguild, make the server acknowledge the supplied authentication data, open/store the session and then send the rating data via POST request. The hardest part is duplicate submission check and preventing accidental multiple POST request
  16. i use invidious and newpipe on android so i don't have to endure with the uptick of creeping ads on youtube.
  17. Requiem FM by Moonbo somehow reminds me of Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi : Today i enjoy listening to these musics :
  18. it would takes age to crack the password especially if it has a complex combination of special characters, numbers and letters. Monster GPUs don't help you much in the process.
  19. i highly recommend you to use a software called DDU, i used it from time to time . Sometimes the standard uninstaller fails to remove the driver off your PC
  20. is there a way to reset frobable item to its original/default position after you drop the item? *edit : without having to rotate the item I imagined a FM where the guards are acquainted of the change of item position. This added a layer of challenge to player besides the existing challenge of forced ghosting
