  1. Evening Can one of you modeling guys tell me how to import .ASE models into 3DS max please? Saturnine (yes, that legend...) has offered to redo the caves in my Cathedral mission. many thanks.
  2. Been banging my head against the wall on this, Im trying to edit the D3 cave model that I used in St Albans Cathedral. What I have learned today - how to remove and merge vertices. how to extrude a bunch of selected vertices. Whats whats doing my head in is - moving the model around and zooming in and out is complete unintuative compared to DR. How the hell to a texture paint the cave model, I would like to be able to apply the texture in the same way as you can apply colour via vertext painting.

  4. I'm wondering if anyone ever checks new posts in the Fan Missions Forums? I've posted 4 questions asking for help for 4 different missions that I can't finish because I"m stuck, and I don't get any help. I posted a question this morning so I don't expect an answer right away for that one. Its frustrating because I would like to finish them. I've read through the posts for each mission and I'm not getting anything from them. If there's someone who could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks I guess I'm spoiled from the TTLG forums.

Hi all, me again Now that I've learned how to take screenies on DM (thanks to Aluminumhaste) I wanted to post one that I took but I got an error saying that the image ext that I used was not allowed in these forums, It was .jpg so I changed it to .png and I got the same error again. They're on Photobucket.
  6. Does anyone know a freeware model conversion tool to convert ase to obj? I couldn't find one.

      Can't get the latter to run (msvcp110.dll missing). I've tried installing MSVC++ redistributable, but already have the newest version of the 2010 package.

       

      Any suggestions?

      The newest redist may not be the one you need, later sp's don't cover some earlier stuff etc. Guess I could make a new build sometime.

  7. Hello everyone. I've just made some changes to the ASE exporter, and here are some results. All of this was created in DR using the script to export. Here is the script used: ase_export_blend.py.txt The tunnels were textured with the following material shader: textures/blendtest2 { { blend diffusemap map textures/darkmod/nature/grass/short_dry_grass_dark VertexColor } { blend diffusemap map textures/darkmod/stone/natural/lanrock1_d inverseVertexColor } } The shader for the other texture looks similar. You may note that this shader only uses the diffusemap. This is due to testing purposes. Bump and specular can be added. Once you start the script, there is a field were you can type in a number between 0 and 1. This tells the script at which height relatively to the overall height of the thing to export the blend should appear. 0 is at the bottom, 1 is at the top, 0.5 would mean in the middle etc... The first texture (using VertexColor) is drawn below that line, while the other one (inverseVertexColor) is drawn above. The broadness of the blending area basically depends on tesselation when using patches. I'll add a way to modify that later on.

  11. Afternoon After making my monster bed, I noticed the size of the .ASE model file was close to 3mb. So far I have the following - Cons: 1. if I changed a bunch of FS models in a given map would this then increase the load times, is this a moot point..? Pros: 1. is an .ASE model less performance and/or resource heavy in game, as in will it help to reduce in-game scene poly levels thus lowering the draw call count..? Misc: If the above are true would players put up with slightly longer load times in exchange for better

  14. Could someone that uses blender have a look at the clipmodel for models/darkmod/decorative/vases/pot_large.ase? When I drop the vase on its side, it sinks into the floor so far that I can see the floor inside the pot. I assume the clipmodel just needs to be made wider, but I can't open it to check. The clipmodel is here: "models/darkmod/misc/clipmodels/pot_large_cm.ase" If someone could adjust it that would be great.
  15. Evening Helping ERH with his mission and Ive just finished making a custome curved top door for him. The problem I have is when I export the finished F_S as an ASE file and then add the new ASE model, I cant move/change the location of the origin. Any ideas..

      I've been considering reinstalling TDS for a wile now... I've still got my original CDs. Have these guys fixed the bug where you get stuck floating? Last time I played TDS, that happened and I was unable to get out of it, so I ragequit.

      You can surpass that bug by drawing your bow, performing a shot, and draw your blackjack when the bow is tensioned, to abort the bow shot. I'm hoping it's fixed in the Gold patch too though. Alongside the thing where you move sideways, when peeking left or right.

      Build TDM mission in DR.

       

      Export as portions as ASE

       

      Edit in Blender and export in TDS compatible format

       

      Import into T3ED

       

      Edit

       

      Release TDS mission...

       

      (or just stick with TDM)
