Have I been hacked or is the site being rebuilt or hacked?
  2. I've noticed a few others with this issue and I'm wondering if there is anything that can be done about it? When I right click on either the shortcut or the DarkRadiant.exe, the options to disable the Desktop Composition is greyed out. I've actually gone into the registry to disable this on Dark Radiant, but the commands are ignored in there as well. From what I've read on the net, this means something is hard coded into Dark Radiant to prevent it from being run with those settings. The settings work great on other programs, so I'm not sure what is going on. Might be worth mentioning that all the options are available on the tdmlauncher exe. Is it possible for us to hard code DR to run without Windows Themes? Don't know if it's something that can be fixed but i just wanted to put it out there. I'm now running everything on my new laptop. Windows 7, 4gigs ram, and dedicated Nvidia graphics with 512megs of ram.
  3. I haven't been around too much recently, but when I do look into the forums every so often, I am always amazed how much progress is being made on the mod. Great work people!

  4. Hey everyone, Just recently TDM has been crashing on start up, the fault module relates to gamex86.dll. I took a peek at the FAQ and I am on patch 1.3.1.1304, tried disabling av but the issue persists. Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks guys.
  5. Tested 28 missions so far: 9 are missing little or nothing; only 7 crash on load. Progress.

You might get a little more console logging from a Dmap. I'd try it on house of theo.

  8. Hi my game crash on map loading with error: malloc failure for 134217736 my cfg is work: image_usePrecompressedTextures "1" image_useNormalCompression "2" image_useAllFormats "1" image_useCompression "1" image_preload "1" - My 1.08 not crash on all maps - I use ATI Radeon HD 4850 Any ideas? 9. This is a bug that occurs on current (29 Jan 2013, rev. 5694) SVN code. Proposed solutions are in this post. It's probably related to: 0002811: Font loading does not fall back to English http://bugs.angua.at/view.php?id=2811 Reproduction: After changing language to polish and restarting TDM, the following happens: SetupFonts() in idDeviceContext::Init() can't find fonts for polish language. It does not fall back to loading english fonts. Lack of ANY fonts loaded causes a crash while loading GUI (in idDeviceContext::SetFontByScale() exactly). I've attached the stack trace. I have three solutions for this problem: 1. I've attaches a patch (I18N.cpp.patch.txt). However: - it uses a hard coded value "fonts/english", - it requires #str_04127 to be translated properly for all languages with their own fonts - this is actually an advantage, IMHO. 2. I've also attached an alternative patch (DeviceContext.cpp.patch.txt) that solves this problem. It also uses a hard coded value "fonts/english", and is not as good as the first one. 3. Third solution is to require for translation of #str_04127 to be present in all languages that do not have their own fonts. Translations such as Polish have to be fixed. I actually think that the first solution is the best one, because it's the most bullet-proof (no risk of crashes, ever). (I wanted to edit the original issue, but I don't have permission.) stacktrace.txt DeviceContext.cpp.patch.txt I18N.cpp.patch.txt

I never got into BSD, though I've installed it once or twice. This is another reason to check it out.

The BSD's arn't for everyone, but within their goals, simple code and mailing lists lies a lot of goodness and simplicity. I love the underdogs. Anyhoo work will be Linux friendly too. Portability is a cornerstone for good code.

(We can leave the thread for journalism corruption, but just on this...) Then the issue in academia is money flowing to the more corruptable fields like science & engineering with the big corporate grants & revolving door with staff. The humanities might not get that, but OTOH they are getting pressured to "justify their existence" financially. I could probably agree it's rife in almost any human field though, as long as there are incentives there will be corruption.

Or then we have the "uncorruptable" critical academics, but then they're basing their work on Derrida or Marx and are so detached from reality they throw their credibility out the window. It's good to be critically detached, not so good to be derailed from reality. My position in law sometimes is something like a critical realism, but it's practically an orphan position. (You want to protect victims *and* think science works??? Wha...?)

Who is uncorruptable anyways? I cannot convince even myself that I would be uncorruptable in every situation. And I perceive myself to be situated in the more-reliable-than-50%-of-the-general-population side in the gaussian distribution curve of corruption. Problematic, yes?

  10. For the last 1-2 weeks the forums have been really slow and unresponsive for me, when I type a post half the time it just sits there etc.. is anyone else having the same issues..?
  11. Does anybody else have this problem? In the (European) evenings the forum is unbearable slow. The server is delivering about 8Kbyte/s, sometimes less and usually stops midwhere during loading the page. Sometimes you can't even get the index page, sometimes you can log in, but then only get half of the overview etc. In the mornings everything is snappy.
  12. Hi, I bought Steam Doom 3 yesterday and the only change I did in D3 was changing the resolution to 1920x1200, which an be done in D3s config file. I downloaded TDM then, put the stuff in Doom 3\darkmod\ and ran the updater. A few files got updated. Then I started "c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Doom 3\darkmod\tdmlauncher.exe" and the result is this: In the background I can see the TDM wallpaper additionally. And thats it. Crash, bang, exit. What can I do? I wanted to play this mod soooo badly. My system is a Core i7 3.4 - 8 GB Ram - Win7x64 - GTX570 - HD is an SSD. TIA Michael
  13. I hadn't turned off my desktop PC in months, but finally the other day I decided to give it a rest. Now I turned it on but I get nothing on the monitor, not even boot up junk, as if the monitor cable was unplugged. So I check the cable, it's fine. I try plugging in my other monitor, nothing shows up. I try connecting to the DVI output on the vid card instead of the VGA output, no dice. So I tried forcing the computer to turn off (holding power button for four seconds) and turning it back on to "jump-start" the monitor connection, no help. This is when I noticed that I don't hear lots of hard drive grinding (which I normally expect to hear, with everything like Windows loading up). But anyway I figure I'll try the vid card, so I pull it and dust it off (it's pretty clean already), re-insert it, turn everything on again, no help. (and again, no hard drive activity). With my limited PC knowledge I try to think it through - I figure if the hard drive was dead the monitor would still show SOMETHING, so maybe the vid card is bad and the PC insists on having a good vid card in place before it will load anything, thus explaining the lack of hard drive activity. So I try a different vid card I have, no help at all. I also noticed no lights on my keyboard though! Usually the keyboard "Lock" lights flash when starting up the computer, right? But no, nothing. So I try plugging in a PS2 keyboard and restarting, nothing. So I try the USB keyboard again but in a different USB port, nothing. All of this leads me to the terrible conclusion that it must be a whole bad motherboard, causing multiple failures in everything - no hard drive activity, no video signal, no keyboard, nothing. Am I crazy, or am I unfortunately right? The thing is, all the lights in the PC case are working right (such as a red light on the motherboard, a light in the ethernet port, etc), the vid card fan spins, the case fans spin, the USB ports give power (optical mouse red laser lights up when plug in). the computer sounds like it's on and running, so everything SEEMS fine. But those things that seem fine are mostly power related, so I figure the motherboard could still be bad and it's just the power supply making all the stuff run. Any ideas or help? Thanks! (I'm working on my laptop right now, I don't use my desktop for much so it's actually not such a big deal for it to be out of commission right now)
  14. I've upgraded IPB to the latest stable version, and since this was a major upgrade (from 2.3.6) I also had to re-do the forum style. Most of the new stuff is in place, but I bet that the logo will be changed. One of the many new features in version 3 is rating of posts and also a "report spammer" ability which will make it easier to single out spam bots and ban then at sight. Hopefully this will stop some of the spam threads we've seen recently. Make sure to empty your browser cache if you're experiencing any problems. And please report any errors etc in this thread. Cheers, ~m2
  15. Hey guys, my TDM crashes on Startup. It says "runtime error" and points to DooM3.exe. I already read the threads with the same issue here in the forum and read FAQ. I already googeled. I have Win32 XP. Doom 3 ist the right Version, I also checked with the console. Doom3 runs normal. I freshly installed DIII from CD, patched, then dled TDM. Oh...I read I should have an DarkMod.exe? I only have the tdmlauncher, and I dont know how to get the tdm.exe. Path to tdmlauncher is E:\Games\DoomIII\darkmod\tdmlauncher.exe Darkmod directory is E:\Games\DoomIII\darkmod\ Darkmod directory after normalisation is E:\Games\DoomIII\darkmod Trying default value for engine executable: E:\Games\DoomIII\DOOM3.exe Found engine executable in E:\Games\DoomIII\DOOM3.exe Engine path after normalisation is E:\Games\DoomIII\DOOM3.exe Could not find 'currentfm.txt' file in E:/Games/DoomIII/darkmod/currentfm.txt Current FM is: Using the following argument vector: #0: +set #1: fs_game #2: darkmod Starting process E:\Games\DoomIII\DOOM3.exe +set fs_game darkmod Closing logfile. Btw...there is no currentfm.exe. It only shows it in the log because I created the file to see if it will work then. Thanks for helping...
  16. Hey guys, I searched the forums but couldn't find a post already addressing this fix for the "wrong api dll version" crash you get when trying to run doom 3 with the wrong patch. So if it's old news (which assuredly it is) then my bad, destroy my post. So I patched doom by running the correct patch, the pak files updated, but I still kept getting the wrong api version crash. I ended up looking at my version through the .exes properties and noticed it was still 1.3.01 (or whatever it was) so I did a quick search and found a working Doom 3 1.3.1 crack, and replaced the exe with it, and it fixed it. So perhaps now people searching through countless search engines will be able to find this fix.. can anyone tell me why my .exe wasn't updated from the patcher?
