  1. Did you delete the training pk4 first? If the only thing listed in the New Missions screen is the Training Mission, but you're getting St. Lucia, then something is quite wrong with your installation. I'd delete the entire fms folder and run tdm_update again.
  2. Hi there, maybe somebody is able to help me. DM just won't start on my computer. I updated the driver for my graphic card, reinstalled DM and tried to solve the problem with RadeonPro (as the log kept on mentioning OpenGL I thought to give it a try). And in the forum I did not find any thread that seems to fit to my problem. Thanks a lot in advance! This is my configuration: Intel Core2 CPU 6600 @2,40Ghz 2,45Ghz, 3 GB RAM WinXP Home Edition installed and using a ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series as graphic card. And this is what the log keeps on telling me, when I try to launch DM.   3. Evening Atm I have a bunch of shortcuts for my various mission in my quicklanch and a main shortcut on my desktop. The mission shortcuts are as follows - E:\Darkmod\TheDarkMod.exe +set com_allowConsole 1 +set r_fullscreen 0 +set fs_currentfm campaign I would like to force the short on my desk(which i use to play a mission rather than test it) to full screen and use a specified resolution (1680*1050),I can force to full screen but not at the correct res. So my question is can I edit the shortcut to suit or perhaps run a custome config file..?

Okay, I just found out what the problem was: Right after the installation of Windows I changed the readability to 150% (at highest resolution it was pretty hard to read anything at the standard setting). Since I changed so many settings after that (common when you set up a new pc) I didn't think of that anymore. Eventually I got back to that setting by accident and tried out the standard settings just to be sure. Suddenly the title screen of TDM was okay. When changing it to 150% at the very beginning I didn't realize it could affect anything beside the readables. Thanks anyways. At least I got my cfg file with your help
  5. Hi there! I bought a new PC (my old one was from 2001, so there's a lot of new stuff for me now ^^) and just installed TDM, but after starting it the title screen won't show properly. The upper left part of it takes up the whole screen, leaving only the first letters of some of the menu entries on the far right side. I guess this is a resolution problem, but I can't fix it. I already checked the graphic card drivers, tried other Windows resolution (can't change them ingame because I can't see the options menu) and tested various compability modes. The title screen stayed the same. Anyone got an idea what I'm doing wrong? Some system informations: Windows 7 Home 64bit AMD 8x4000 Graphic card: Radeon HD 3000 Connected to TV with HDMI-cable Resolution is set at 1920x1080
  6. The really awesome feature in Linux is that you can move windows by holding Alt and clicking anywhere on them. This comes in handy if part of the window is not on the screen and you need to move it quickly. I use it constantly.
  7. Here's a condump after a quicksave, then the quickload surprisingly/fortunately didn't crash, but the seeds came back black/cubes, so I did another condump, then the same quickload crashed. Before trying to contact folks, since it seems to involve both the SEED system and save/load, does this point more toward one or the other? Warning, LONG logfile within spoiler tags:

  9. From http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=SEED_-_Known_bugs#v1.03_bugs This happens under TDM 2.0 sadly. I have no problems with SEEDs that use models. However a SEED that had func_static sources exhibits that exact behavior. It crashes using quickload, load saved game, or when the game tries to load the statistics at the end of mission. You can reload TDM and access the same once per session however. The objects also don't show up properly post save if you reload TDM, they show up as black cubes instead.
  10. Okay, so I couldn't run the game in fullscreen mode: it would just reset the r_fullscreen to 0 every time it loaded. Turns out it was an arg on a file inside the package: contents/MacOS/Doom 3 automatically sets r_fullscreen to 0, which is annoying if you want to play the game in full screen. Looks stable otherwise. I'll go test some missions now.
  11. I already tried running the game on single-screen only and it didn't change a thing. Even deleted the config-file completely and ran the game at whopping 640x480 with all settings off and nothing changed. EDIT: My hard-drive is a reqular one. It's quite fast though.
  12. Problem: Framerate dips down to 5fps at certain locations. Which in themselves are rather random by elements present in them. Possibly linked problem: Loading the map at launching the game always takes about 5 minutes, this happens after the loading bar completes. Cpu is just about 15%. Examples: Requiem starts lagging after entering to the central part of town, where the church is located. It ends after descending down. It starts again right after you pick the third stone disk. (i guess you can pick these out of order, this is the one i got first) Both in town and after picking up the disc, the map is populated by lots of AI. So maybe it's related to that. I've also had this in Alberic's curse in the wide beginning part, i did not go further. Now what makes this weird is that when i played requiem and the performance got bad again. I Noticed that the problem goes completely away for about 15-20 seconds if i press esc to enter the menu and stay in there for a while. A Short taps of the menu do nothing, but about a minute in there and the problem is gone for the brief time. I have tried messing around with graphical settings with no luck. All from resolution to v-sync to other quality options. I did try resetting the Darkmod.cfg by restoring the old one. I have also tried to change as many compression and image settings there as i have the knowledge to. I play with 3 screens in eyefinity normally, but i also tried just a single screen. My windows installation isn't very old. Just a 1-2 months. Drivers installed were the latest ones. My computer specs are following: Amd 8 core 4ghz, 4gb ram, Radeon HD6850. Windows 7. So you wouldn't think that it's a problem with my computer since i don't have any temperature issues and i run other games just fine. Here's to show this in action.   14. Maybe the problem will just go away for me too, or maybe it only happens with certain levels. Either way it isn't a big deal. Also, when I checked my screenshots, I was surprised to see that they were the same brightness, even though the screen was bright when I took some and dark when I took others Seriously, I really would like for someone to teach me how to post pictures in the forums.   15. I noticed the following problem when I started playing The Siege Shop, but it may have occurred earlier, and I just wasn't paying attention. Whenever I leave TDM then launch it again, my gamma and/or brightness (hard to tell exactly) increases. My gamma setting remains at 0.8 and my brightness setting remains at 0.5, yet everything is much brighter. If I adjust the settings without resetting them, there is no change in the actual brightness of the screen. So in order to have the gamma and brightness settings that I want I must reset them, then adjust them every time I launch TDM. Does anyone know how I can fix this so I don't have to adjust my gamma/brightness settings every time I play? I have screen shots that I would like to post, but I don't know how to post pictures in the forums. Would someone please teach me how to post pics in the forums whether you need them to understand my dilemma or not. Thank you
  16. I am just going to go ahead and assume this is user error rather than and actual driver error. I mean AMD pulled of a lot of crap ( ), but I doubt they failed so hard that usb devices are disabled when a secondary screen is plugged. So, use windowskey+P to cycle through different desktop extension modes. Set it to "Computer only" and adjust your settings on your computer monitor afterwards the way you want to.
  17. Indeed. When this happens to me, I do the following. I swing my mouse around until I see the pointer (if the computer is trying to do a spanned desktop and I can't see the first half). Then I right-click and select change resolution/properties. Then, if the window doesn't appear (it went to the other monitor), I press alt+space, then down arrow, and then enter to select "move". This allows you to move the properties window around, even though you can't see it. Then I tap the right/left (usually right) arrow key until it comes on screen. Proceed as usual from there.
  18. So let me get this straight. You connect the cable from the DVI Out on your GPU to the HDMI In on your TV-set using a converter? After which you get a lovely picture (?) on your set and your computer reverts to just the wallpaper. What do you mean by lovely picture on your set, is it just the wallpaper there as well or do you see your regular screen there? It sounds like a problem with assigning the primary and secondary screens. Right click on your desktop and pick "Screen Resolution..." You should find options for multiple screens there.
  19. Inspired by a thread on a here a little while ago I bought a cable to connect my dvi socket on the computer to the hdmi one ( marked to dvi on my Samsung 42" set ) . Unfortunately , I get a lovely picture on the set but no way I can use the keyboard. As soon as I plug the lead into the set my computer reverts to just the wallpaper screen with no way I can use the computer keyboard and mouse. I therefore can't even go to control panel to adjust settings etc. The graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 4300/500 series. Can anyone please give me a clue to what adjustments i have to make to get started / point out where i'm going wrong.Thank you !

  22. Yeah. This is good advice and thus it did the trick. If you've been playing for a while (since the "beginning in my case) you will know this by the way things have developed; the earlier missions were not so complex and huge-epic as manymost lately. So back then we'd get a slight delay after the "loading progress" bar filt and blipped-away. Then other, bigger FMs came and took a bit longer... and on... and now it does become the kind of thing that really might put a lot of newcomers to ~panic~. I hope that the team will look at making the loading screen more truthful about the progress. And maybe even best of best to allow some of it to happen with briefing or somesuch happening on the stage? In the meantime this known known about the expected delays should be bespoken and advised about aloud. It should be mentioned in the docs and down at the docks... and maybe even right next to each "loading progress" bar.
  23. I find the light gem too large, especially on my massive monitor. Also when it's bright I loose definitiions in the blacks making it harder to see in dark areas. Any way to shrink it? I made a mod for Deadly Shadows that shrank the HUD and moved elements to the very edges of the screen so it wasn't so "in-your-face", I'd like to do the same with The Dark Mod, including the tips pop-up box - this needs to be smaller too.
  24. Including the training mission, most of them just return to the objectives screen after the loading bar is full or just hang on the load screen. St Lucia on the other hand says to press "Attack" to start, which is Left Mouse button but nothing happens. Tried pressing all the keys and nothing happens. So far this is just fancy front end where nothing happens.   25. I tried making a thumb-drive upgrade to 1.08 to 2.00 for a friend this evening and encountered this problem again too. Going to Win 7 compatibility did not help. I was able to start the mod using the following steps: 1) Delete Darkmod.cfg 2) Delete gamex86.dll 3) Double click TheDarkMod.exe 4) Black screen is shown 5) hit Alt + Enter to go into Windows mode Now I had a nice little 640x480 TDM which I could scale to higher resolutions. You can shortcut this process by changing: seta r_fullscreen "1" to seta r_fullscreen "0" in Darkmod.cfg and see if it renders.
