What version of ATI Catalyst are you running?

 

Sorry, I had posted this info already, in my first 'having trouble' post, but that was in the Alchemist thread, not here...

I'm running 10.3. The most recent is 10.8, but I'd heard a lot of grumbling about several of the more recent being 'not as good', so I've been holding off.

Upgrade your drivers, my man. Try stepping up to 10.7 or 10.8. My HD 4850 is using the most recent drivers without any problems, but I recall 10.5 not liking one particular non-power-of-two texture on a model, and would crash to desktop.

Indeed, this is a very potent truth.

 

The Thief community is a wonderful one to be a part of, even if I've been little more than a forum lurker over on TTLG for all my years there. As the TDM community is, in many ways, a descendant of that one (as well as an ascendant, I suppose), I'm not surprised to find this place to also be fantastic.

 

I hope TDM 1.03 brings a fix for the problems I have, but even if it doesn't... I'm very grateful for all the help I've been given here.

I've been working on some stuff which better detects problems in textures and such, which has identified about 10 other 'critical' dds files which could be causing crashing. About another 15 which are used for UI stuff, but those dont seem to cause crashing.

I hope to get the updated/cropped/resized versions into 1.03 soon as I have some time to make the adjustments and test them. This takes a bit of time as some of the textures are non-square(or of an aspect ratio which does not scale to power-of-two dimensions) which means I need to try and replicate the offset to match existing use cases... which can be tough with my gfx card dying every few minutes due to a non TDM/doom3/anything related bug

 

So worst comes to worst the problems ~should~ be fixed even if the drivers/hardware cant be
