Oh, boy. The last version was completely useless, because the jar was empty.

 

So, here is TDMMissionDbCheck v0.5.

The missions are now analyzed in alphabetical order as requested and size-differences less then ~0.5 MB compared to the 'nominal size' are now properly ignored.

 

 

@Taaaki, can you tell if the WebUI now allows to enter proper version Strings? (e.g. '1.01' instead of a simple '1')

This would help making future updates on any mission work much better for the players.

It doesn't at the moment. I'm working on the some other aspects of the server at the moment, but I'll start planning the mission manager improvements when I get some time after that.

The two Localization download links for 'Home Again' pointing to taaaki's server are both wrong and totally invalid.

The first would be pointing to the L10N files for 'In the North' (In case it was hosted on that server, then people would get the l10n for a totally different mission! But luckily, it isn't.)

and the second one doesn't look ok, either. At any rate it is dead.

 

They should be eliminated and replaced with this:

There are also a bunch of outdated versions lingering around.

Some of them occupying the regular fms/missions folder, some residing in the TDM2testmissions folder.

Just to be clear about these: the mission DB for these missions does not need any corrections, since the DB is pointing to the latest versions already (except for the few I stated in my previous post).

But in order to avoid future confusion, the old versions should be scrapped or moved.

Hmmm... for Thomas Porter - Lich Queens Demise, now there is a link in the 'Localization Pack' section, which did not exist this morning.

Actually it is just the updated version of the mission (without any changes or additions), and therefor just an additional download.

It should be removed, since it provides nothing which isn't included in the mission itself anyway.

2 new minor issues:

 

Lockner Manor needs an update, which was updated on august 3 to version 1.6.

For 'Special Delivery' someone must have added l10N files not too long ago.

But they are binary identical to the actual mission and serve no purpose except for producing additional downloads and

supersede any potential future updates to the mission itself that might happen.

I wonder what was the reason to add them in the first place...

best would be to delete them entirely from the mirrors.

Hmmm.... or replace them with entirely empty pk4's. Like that it would be guaranteed that they could not do any harm in the future in case players had that l10n on their disk already and a update to the mission comes in, because the blank pk4 would then overwrite the outdated l10n.

Just a thought.

Not only that, but I noticed, that the updater in general doesn´t seem to work anymore for existing missions: e.g. NHAT, Siege Shop (now version 4!), Mandrasola, Lord Dufford, Sam Hain, Fauchard - just to name a few - all got updated in the last six months and I didn´t receive any hints in the New Mission-Menu of the updater. I only noticed, because I deleted and compared all older missions an redownloaded every mission again together with the new update to TDM 2.03. I really wouldn´t like to do that every time a new TDM version gets released. But instead the updater should always inform, if anyone uploads an updated mission or changes anything regarding the mission files. All in all what use has an update of a mission, if nobody noticed and never plays it?

The download window has been showing me which missions are updated to new versions just fine. Several missions have been renamed recently, but that didn't count as a new version.
