Binding to the player's head

Is there a way to bind something to the player's head?

I'm trying to place a patch in front of the player's eyes, and when I bind it to the player, it pays no attention to the player's view angle.

Short of repositioning the patch every frame, I wondered if there was another way to guarantee that it stays in the view regardless of where the player looks.

Thanks.

The joints on the player are the same as other AI. "Head" would be the first one I'd try,

I just tried this:

$Object.bindToJoint($player1,"Head",1);

Object doesn't follow the eyes if I Iooked up or down, so I guess it doesn't pitch or roll with the player's POV.

And turning shows there's a lag as Object takes extra time to follow the movement. Exactly like having a heavy object in the grabber.

I guess I'll skip the binding method and reposition it each frame.

I did. I even capped the cylinder at both ends. Since the object is a set of patches, it collects the light as you move around. Different parts of the cylinder would light up as you neared a torch, and it didn't look right. Plus, there was a lag in the cylinder movement when you turned, much like the lag you experience when carrying heavy objects. You're very aware that something's wrapped around you.

The solution had to be a single flat patch that extends beyond the edges of the view, and which is not bound to the player, but is repositioned in front of the player's eyes each frame, based on where he's looking. It also slightly changes its lighting as you near lit torches, but it's momentary and doesn't look bad. The color of the patch is the same as the ambient light in the area and the color of the potion bottle, so it all makes sense. (At least to me.)

      Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

      I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

      briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
      What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
      I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

      Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.
