Any way to stop Darkradiant from causing this?

I built this railing on grid size 1, all vertex points align to grid, all textures line up and are to same scale.

When I go into Darkmod and DMAP, I get this weirdness with texture stretching:

There's weird triangulation going on also:

That's what I did, but now when I just went into DR, it's all back to what it was before.

Okay fixed it, and now the textures are correct. However now the triangulation issues are back. Now all sides of the railing look like the second screenshot.

I guess Doom3's engine just can't handle optimizing faces at such a small scale. Oh well, will scrap the railing.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

You could always make a custom material def with the "discrete" keyword in the material def to prevent Doom 3 from messing with the triangulation.

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

The scale might be less of a problem than if it's generating thin 'sliver' triangles.

Bottom right is what you get when all the brush- and patchwork belongs to the same entity; top right is how it looks normally in the game, with ugly spark lines. Bottom left is the manually optimised version seen in DR in the top left, where the selected bits are their own func_static.

Okay I scraped the railing and started over, much nicer design now. However, I'm still getting horrible results.

Here's it in DarkRadiant showing the separate groups:

There's 2 patch groups, the cross shaped circles are actually 2 separate groups. And the smaller arches near the bottom are separate groups.

The geometry is part of it's own group.

In game it looks like this:

I got the westernmost section to look like that (the one on the right is unchanged, for comparison), but I had to reduce the patch detail in order to do it.

AMD GPU, by the way.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
